"Ma, I think I got it!" Laken grinned in excitement.
Ula watched him carefully during the cool afternoon, as a swirl of darkness was slowly rotating around his hand. When did he teach him that, she couldn't recall, as the darkness dissipated.
"Did I do it?" Laken asked her, as he waddled towards her.
"Yeah, but where did you learn that?" she bent down to look at him. "I don't remember showing you that?"
"Pa did it one time!" Laken grinned joyfully.
"Really?" she sighed, a bit disappointed.
"Yeah, so cool!" Laken laughed with joy, as he tried it again.
She had been trying to teach him basic things with his powers to no avail for days, and then it turns out that he was doing something even she hadn't tried until recently. And from Jamal? That couldn't be right, as she never saw him do that before. Could he be creating something new, or even stronger than what even Jamal had?
"Mama, is something wrong?" she could hear her son asking her.
"No, everything is going to be fine. I think you've done enough for the day," she replied calmly to him, as he dissipated the creation again in disappointment.
She'll have to watch him carefully and tell Jamal whenever he came back. Days or weeks, she assumed, as she lead him back into the house. Hopefully, Jamal found what is was looking for, or at least came back home safely, she wished, as she closed the door behind him to care for Laken.
