"These bastards are in trouble" Shin said. He looked at his men, pinned down and under fire. 'I'm going to end this shit right now.' Shin had applied the principles of his martial arts in the field this year, in ways that he had never imagined. His body and mind we're equally the weapons he wielded, his masters has tried to teach this, but it wasn't clear until his life was truly on the line. The constant battles had changed him.
The adrenaline was pumping and yet, despite that surge of energy and strength, he was calmer than ever. He breathed deeply. Then again. The sounds of the fight seemed to drift away, even the pounding of his heart got quieter as he slipped further into his mindful trance. Shin had learned the calmer he was, the sharper his mind and visual acuity became. He didn't want to say he had superhuman vision, but since that fight in the school yard, forever ago, he was amazed how things seemed to slow down if he was calm enough.
