"What should I do? Should I go and talk to Hani about this matter myself?" Ji-Hoon was pacing here and there and Dong-Hoon was in a distress.
"Are you out of your mind, what will you say? Hye Hani, I liked you for five years and you do not need to marry Tae-Hoon and I will take the responsibility." he scolded him.
"Yes, I will say the exact same thing." Dong-Hoon facepalmed himself at the stupidity of the supposed smarty pants of the house.
"You have officially gone insane, she is freaking pregnant and that too with Tae-Hoon's child. Plus, she refused from this marriage as well, it is her parents and not her." Dong-Hoon was trying to make him understand the situation but Ji-Hoon had lost his emotional quotient completely and was trying to take everything in a reasonable and rational way and that reasonable way was just according to his mind and the normal reasonable thing.
"Then I will talk to her parents. I don't know anything but they don't like each other and Tae-Hoon, Big bro you know that he is a jerk. He dates every single girl, he freaking lingers around with people of loose characters. How can I accept it this easily." if Ji-Hoon's teeth were not strong they would have been crushed by now by the way he was gritting them while clenching his fists.
Dong-Hoon went to him and placed his both hands on Ji-Hoon's shoulders. "Please, think rationally. You cannot go against father's words. He said that Tae-Hoon will marry Hani then no one can change his decision. Not even Tae-Hoon himself can get himself out of this marriage. You are going to just get in trouble and in the end, nothing will happen in your favor. Please, I request you... don't do anything that will create distance among us, we brothers have been together always, I don't want to have a wall between us." then he hugged him but Ji-Hoon did not hug back.
"I will talk to mom, I don't know what will happen but I cannot stay still and do nothing. I am not joking, I really liked her for years. I don't mind being the father of her child but I will not give up this easily." he pulled himself away from Dong-Hoon.
Dong-Hoon sighed and shook his head, "Ok, you can talk to mom but please be rational, one mistake and all these years of our bonding will be in vain." he patted his shoulder and went out of Ji-Hoon's room.
...
Ji-Hoon was now in the master bedroom sitting in front of his mother having her hands into his as she waited patiently for what he was about to say, her expressions were not so good either.
"Mom, I really, really like her, and you know how..." Jung-Nan cut off his words.
"There's no one else who knows better than me that how much you like her but you need to understand my child that it is Tae-Hoon's child and he needs to take responsibility." prominent lines between her eyebrows were showing her anxiety and worry.
"Mom, please listen to what I have to say." he said with his bulging eyes and Jung-Nan nodded her head, giving him a chance to voice out what he wanted.
"I was saying that Tae-Hoon will never settle for a girl, he is going to hurt her and this marriage will eventually end like that and what will be the outcome, nothing."
"I and your father have promised her parents and we will never let anything happen to this marriage. We will try our best..." this time Ji-Hoon cut her words.
"Mom, please I am not talking about how you guys should handle both of them. I am saying that like... like... why don't I have a chance. I mean rather than arranging her with Tae-Hoon why cannot I be the one." the inside corners of his eyebrows were slanting upwards as he swallowed waiting for his mother's reply.
Jung-Nan sighed, massaging her nose bridge. "You don't understand, she is pregnant and the child belongs to Tae-Hoon. You want her to marry you and become the father of the child. But think, right now Tae-Hoon is an idiot but in the future when this child will grow up in front of him, he will not be able to resist his affection. No matter what you say right now. You marrying her and being a father figure for the child will certainly not be a good decision not for you, not for her not for anyone."
"Then what about me. You guys have always favored Tae-Hoon, he gets what he wants and gets what he does not want as well. Please mom, just this one time in my life I am asking for something, let me talk to her please." Jung-Nan sighed at his persistence and nodded her head.
"Ok, but you need to accept whatever she says and she is in a fragile state according to her parents, I hope you will be a good person as you have always been and not create a scene in someone's life."
Dong-Hoon and Jung-Nan were thinking that Ji-Hoon was really in love with the girl or else he would not have been like this but they have failed to notice that Ji-Hoon had always walked on a path in his life which he personally organized and he had made Hani a part of that path but right now his 'pretty-perfect-imagined-life' was getting a piece out of it and he could not allow it.
He certainly liked Hani and there was no doubt in it but rather than someone he liked he always had seen her as a perfect life partner for him, a life partner who would suit him the most.
