"This is fairly interesting."
Lala, who had her hand wrapped in Jason's, said as they walked by some carnival games. Thanks to his father's suggestion, Jason decided to check it out. Scattered around the streets that were blocked off, games and live music were scattered about within. In the sky large balloons floated above them in shapes of various animals or globes.
"Shall we try some snack food?" Lala asked.
From looking around, none really stuck out or looked appealing in his opinion. Those that did required waiting in a decently sized line, but if Lala wants to try some he won't deny her.
"Do you have something in mind?"
"Snow cones!" Lala excitedly said.
It was probably the shortest line he had seen and within a few minutes they managed to gain two snow cones. Only within a few minutes they managed to find out why it was a short line. The entire thing was half melted and the syrup was an imitation within the real bottle.
"I don't think arctic breath can save these." Jason said as he tossed his into the trash alongside Lala.
"I have to agree, but I really wanted one too."
"Shall we make our own at home then?" Jason asked as they began checking out some games.
"Sure." Lala smiled brightly as she drew closer to him.
The two began dominating the carnival games that even rigged ones stood no chance against them. In the end, due to the amount of prizes and no real need for them. They ended up giving away most of them.
"Should we head home to eat?" Jason asked as he heard a soft growl of Lala's stomach.
Slightly embarrassed, Lala shook her head. While they managed to miss the lunch rush by playing games. There were still quite a few in line at various stands.
"Let's just find something here."
After grabbing their food and looking for a spot to sit. Lala looked up into the sky. She seems to notice a small dot in the sky flying slightly uneven while leaving behind a line of black smoke. Turning to Jason asked. "Do you see that?"
Looking to where she was pointing, he saw a man in a green armor looking suit on a silver glider. The sound of mad laughter containing immense rage could be heard as he drew in closer.
"Lala, I don't think this is part of the schedule."
"I think you're right?"
As the guilder weaved between the large balloons, they watched as it stopped at a balcony. Tossing a palm size orange ball underneath, an explosion soon commenced taking out the supports. Thus, panic soon erupted.
"Jason."
"I'm on it." Jason said as he took off his glasses and handed her his portion and glasses.
In a burst of speed faster than the naked eye can follow, Jason rushed up next to the Green Goblin and gave him a small tap knocking him off his glider. He attempted to rescue those still on the balcony before noticing a small orange ball at the feet of a few aged men.
Rushing towards them, he watched as it activated and how the men in his eyes slowly disintegrated. The skin on their bodies vanished alongside their nerves and muscles, before their very bones turned black before turning to ash that didn't remain. Only in other eyes it was all but in an instant that the men vanished.
Slightly hurt he wasn't fast enough on noticing, Jason began pulling those still on the balcony off. Until he saw the glider going haywire and aiming for the large balloons floating about. Quickly pulling the rest off the balcony, Jason appeared next to the glider.
Crumbling it into a metal ball, he was about to go deal with the Green Goblin, when he noticed a man in red and blue suit swinging in on webs. Deciding that he can take it from here, Jason changed back and appeared next to Lala replacing his glasses.
"Why didn't you finish?" Lala asked as they watched the battle between the Green Goblin and Spiderman take place.
"I figured he has it taken care of." Jason said only to make Lala frown.
"You can't leave it up to others, Jason. Look at this fight, and the damage it is causing. Granted it only a few canopies and tables, but what about next time. What if buildings or even cities are in the balance? Are you just going to hand off the responsibility when one appears who seems like they can handle it." Lala replied, barely holding her anger within.
"I'm sorry." Jason replied as he realized his mistake.
If he starts to pass the responsibility of finishing or cleaning up now, when does it end. While he was lucky this time around like Lala said. What about next time when lives he could have saved by finishing what he started, but didn't.
"I know, but how would you feel if a family had to bury their loved one because you just up and left figuring others will handle it." Lala said as they watched the Green Goblin being arrested. After Spiderman managed to beat the man into submission and bound by his webs. He took off after the police officer told him they could take it from there.
Since the attack put an end to the fair, the two of them returned home in silence. There, James greeted them, before giving Jason a similar lecture about his actions. While he was proud of him for saving others, he wasn't happy how he handled it.
"I will do better next time." Jason said to himself as he locked himself away. He began to design and dove into his hobby to cope with the men vanishing before his eyes.

A couple hours later as the news ran it reported on the attack. It made a mention that the one responsible had escaped shortly after being arrested. They had warned everyone to be on alert and should they have any tips please phone it in.
