We clear the room for Tobi to be able to work, drawing a magical circle around her. She left to go get the whistle from her room, the link between her and her great grandmother. I hope this works out for us and Nana gets better. We cannot afford to lose her; we've all gone through a lot already.
She comes back wearing the whistle on her neck like a pendant and steps into the circle. The whistle looks like it was crafted ages ago. It actually was. I place candles on each point of the triangle inside the circle and step out. She instructed me to keep them unlit. Taking a deep breath, she blows the whistle four times and starts chanting.
"Mo pe e, iya. Gẹgẹ bi o ti ṣe ileri, wa si mi. Ọrọ rẹ ni ide rẹ, mu ọrọ rẹ ṣẹ fun mi." I call upon you, mother. Just as you promised, come to me. Your word is your bond, fulfill your word to me.
My breath is sucked in, in anticipation and anxiety but nothing happens.
