Chapter 2 - 2

Bram listed to the sad howls and felt a twinge of pain. This was not fair to the Wolfbloods who just wanted to be left alone. He didn't know they existed till a month earlier, when a DDA agent came and explained the situation. Though he didn't feel it was right he agreed. The humans knew nothing of the furry four legged shifters and were afraid. It was obvious to him that the Wolfbloods just wanted to remain as they were. His job was to observe them for the next six months. In that time if he sees no hostility not that he ever thought it would happen. Then they can go home and back to their lives. That was till Iris placed her hand in his. A serge of electricity swept threw his body. 'We found her.' His dragon said with enthusiasm. Oh bloody fantastic his mate was one of the wolves taken from home. I can't think of this now. He thought before clearing his throat. "We will talk at home." He said to not only his dragon but Iris as well. That brings his thoughts full circle to the female in the basket. His little wolf the thought made him happy. Iris was watching him the entire way. The way the sun made his scales shimmer. It was like looking running water. To her it was beautiful a part of her wanted to run her hand along his hide. 'I bet if you ask he would let you.' Rain said in my mind. Oh grate my wolf is stirred she thought before the howls of her pack reached her. Tears threatening her eyes before she howls in response with the others. A cub came to Iris and hugs her. She relaxed holding the small boy. "It will be alright cub this will always be our home. We may be leaving it for a time but we will return." Iris said gently calming the young boy. It took a bit but they arrived on Stonefire and as expected the dragon shifters we watching them. 'This is normal not many know of us. I think you should let it go and focus on Luke's manual labor.' Rain her wolf rang out in her head Iris nods to herself before looking at the boy in question. "Once we are settled I will find a job for you boy." She growled making him lower his head in submission. Luke had dusty sand colored hair pail skin blue eyes. He is fourteen and lean build. His parents were killed by hunters when he was ten. The boy still hasn't moved on from it to be honest no one has. His mother and father were like litter mates to Iris. She vowed to keep him not only in line but also safe. Iris was brought out of her thoughts by Bram. "Come Iris we need to hamer out some details. You don't need to worry lass, your pack will be well looked after in the mean time." He said holding out his hand to her again. 'He won't hurt us Iris go with him.' Rain said calmly bloody wolf. "I take your eyes flashing to gold and back, your wolf is speaking with you. It's similar our dragons." The dragon man was trying to make her feel at ease. She however knew none of them could be trusted. Before she could protest Rain took over taking his hand. His eyes were on her curiosity filled him with every step she took. "Hello wolf." He said making Rain huff. "My name is Rain not wolf. I am sure your dragon has a name or are you just rude." His eyes flashed to slits and back. "Sorry I didn't know the wolves had names. We all just call our dragons what they are." He said trying to smooth things over. Rain nods at him before giving control back to Iris. 'He won't hurt us if he wanted too he wou- Oh no you feel that?' Iris soon fell to her knees clutching her chest. The other wolves do the same. The severing of connections was painful to any wolf. Bram's mobile rung and he answered. "Make it quick the wolves are in pain. What.....you sure.....alright I will.....thank you." Bram hung up before looking at Iris sadness in his eyes. "I am so sorry." Was the last thing she heard before the world went black.
