Chapter 35 - Double winged eagles

"Very well then, we could use proper rest. Old man, I believe you have a transmission orb, could you lend it to me?"

Old man?

The old man instantly got offended. His face slightly changed but still had a smile.

"I'll send it to your room later." He replied.

Nero nodded and went upstairs to his room. An assistant of the old man also showed Amaya to her room.

"Here is a new change of clothes and your bath is ready. Your food will be brought immediately." The assistant said respectfully. She might be in a tavern now but Amaya was still a Princess of their kingdom. Amaya nodded and the assistant left the room. Amaya quickly had a bath and when she came out her food was already on the table.

Meanwhile, Nero was still immersed in his bath, meditating as usual. The water was steaming hot and the steam covered the bathroom. Walking out of the bathroom, Nero ate his food and assumed his usual meditation; this of course lasted throughout the night.

About five thousand kilometers northeast of the mortal village, the lights in the Capital city also known as the State Master's city shined so bright like it was still daytime. At the top of a mountain range, a mansion spread forth for many miles. It wasn't only one mountain but dozens of them! This is the State Master's villa. A connection of many mountains linked together by a strong formation creating a barrier seeming impenetrable.

At the center of these dozen mountains, the biggest mansion of them all towers high like it wanted to pierce the heavens. This is the State Master's mansion, the personal residence of the State Master. In a relatively large library, an old man was flipping through the pages of a thick book while taking occasional glances at a scroll by his side. Suddenly, the doors to the library were abruptly flung open and a young man in decent armor came running in.

"Great Elder! We have news about the Princess!" The young man said while gasping for air.

The old man felt a bit irritated when the young man barged in, but hearing this news, his interest was piqued.

In one sentence each word stressed, the old man asked, "Where is she?"

...

Time passed slowly and like this four days had passed since Nero and Amaya returned to the village. Nero had been cultivating during this time; he ordered beforehand not to be disturbed. Whereas Amaya had been the center of attraction. Everyone wanted to meet her, and she being nice received them all.

The tavern was crowded with more people than usual; everyone wanted to take even the tiniest glimpse at the beautiful Princess. Amaya was sitting at a table while being served a meal. A group of lovely young women surrounded her making sure that she didn't lack anything. An entertainer stood at the center of the tavern while making funny gestures. Amaya charmingly chuckled captivating the hearts of the men in the tavern. They all enjoyed seeing Amaya laugh hence they urged the entertainer to do more acts.

Everything was going smoothly until the little boy flung open the doors of the tavern running in like a depraved maniac.

Eagles!..." He shouted and paused trying to catch his breath.

"You rascal! Are trying to give this old man a heart attack? What is it? Speak quickly!" The old man who owned the tavern scolded.

The little boy didn't mind the scolding of the old man but instead sat on the floor; it was like the more he tried to breathe, the more he lost his breath.

After a few more minutes he finally spoke up.

" The Double winged eagles of the Capital City are flying towards the gates of the village!"

Hearing the little boy say this, everyone sucked in a cold breath.

The Capital City Double winged eagles?

What are they here for?

Realizing a vital point no one needed to ask again as they thought of something. They all shifted their gazes to Amaya. Those eagles had obviously come for her; this was to be expected. Amaya was after all the Princess of the Gandor Kingdom who was abducted by the Black Dragon squad during a grand event at the Capital city. After returning to this village of mortals, Nero requested a transmission orb which was used by Amaya to communicate her whereabouts to the military powers of the Capital city hence the carriages.

Everyone suddenly had a sullen expression like they had swallowed something bitter. The Princess had to return to her place while they would continue to live in the isolated world. The truth was that the people of the village were happy that the dignified Princess of their kingdom lived with them even though it was for a short period. These people were after all seen as wastrels and social rejects of the ruling martial world. To have such a character live amongst them filled their hearts with warmth.

Amaya didn't mind the fact that she lived amongst them. She was a Princess and also a strong martial artist at that, these people simply had no qualifications whatsoever to see her face. However, she had put aside the title and mingled with them. Amaya could guess what everyone was thinking, but she couldn't do anything about it. Ever since she was abducted she had always wished to return home and this wasn't the place. Without hesitating any longer, she simply stood up and went upstairs to her room without uttering a word.

The tavern was still dead silent from the news and now seeing Amaya leave made them feel even more bitter. No one was in the mood to eat or drink anything. The entertainer got down from the table with a gloomy expression and found himself a seat; this was simply no time to be merry. After a while, the old man suddenly called out to one of his assistants.

"Go fetch the Master and tell him what is happening."
