Chapter 30 - The world of Aurora

Due to my mistake I mistook chapter 30 for 29. What you see now is the real chapter 30, sorry for the inconvenience.

If you haven't read it yet, go back to chapter 29.

Byakuro.

-------------------------------------

Afternoon at the library.

"Big brother welcome! Oh... are you okay?"

After welcoming him to the library, Cody was startled, upon seeing big brother's pale face.

"Despite the master's barrier, I really feared I would die..."

Rada showed up at the library looking like an old rag. The knowledge that he would have to continue for the next few months made him even paler.

(What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but first you have to survive...)

A chill ran down his spine at the thought of what lay ahead. After a few minutes, Cody sat Rada down and brought him some tea.

"It will help you relax big brother."

After taking a deep breath Rada drank the tea and said, "Mmm, delicious.... Wait a minute!"

He noticed something.

"I feel energy going through my whole body, it's a nice feeling..."

He closed his eyes, his whole being seemed at peace with the world, all the fatigue of the hellish morning seemed just a memory.

"Eheh, this is a special tea, the Elder prepared it for you. This particular tea - explained the little boy - regenerates the body and spirit, it was prepared with special ingredients, not everyone can afford to drink it!"

Of all people, Rada was certainly enjoying special treatment from the Elder, if the other members of the village had known, they would certainly have turned purple with anger and envy.

The little boy, too, could not help but be slightly envious, but his thoughts were immediately taken over by the boy's funny expression. Cody also had special gifts, as well as the same open-mindedness he received from the old man.

It's no coincidence that he kept him close to him, even though he was a student in name only.

"Really amazing, does he have a name?" the curious side of Rada didn't let this wonder slip away before his eyes. He wanted to know more, on this occasion he had a chance to find out more about this world and he didn't let the opportunity pass him by in the slightest.

"Elysion" replied Cody.

"Elysion? What a peculiar name..." replied Rada with a thoughtful look.

In his world there was no such thing.

"It's named after the leaves of Elysion, a very ancient and rare to find tree" Cody didn't lack for details in his explanation.

"You seem to know a lot about kids!" he said ruffling his hair playfully.

"Of course I do! After all, I've read every book in this library!" Cody turned away protesting. But inside, he was very happy to have this relationship with him, they really did seem like brothers.

Rada looked around, the house didn't really seem to be big from the outside, but instead, inside it was very spacious.

It had room to hold all the strange items that the Elder seemed to bring back from his travels, mostly books.

"Could this be some kind of magic that affects space? Possible?"

He began to speculate in his mind.

He put those thoughts aside though, he would surely ask the old master for elucidation on the matter, but there was no rush.

His attention returned to Cody.

"Very impressive, I rely on your care prof!"

With excitement he prepared to begin his study session.

(Prof?)

Between himself, Cody couldn't help but wonder what the word Rada said meant, but he ignored it soon after.

Between explanations on various study topics, Cody found himself dwelling on Rada's first problem, which was that he could neither read nor write.

"Big brother, how is that possible? You're so smart, and yet, you can't read or write."

He found it hard to believe the baffling truth about big brother, who in turn could only chuckle in embarrassment at the little boy's incredulous look.

(What do you want me to say, that I'm from another world and I don't understand a thing about what's written in these books?) complained Rada inwardly.

"Eheheh, in my country they don't give much importance to study, although I had a great thirst for knowledge, I found myself in this situation despite myself."

He came up with an excuse on the spur of the moment, he knew of the flaws in his story, but in his heart he hoped for the child's naivety.

"Oh, big brother you must have really lived in the boonies...but don't worry I'm here now, I'll teach you everything I know in no time!"

With a twinge of pity for him, Cody determinedly and enthusiastically decided to teach him everything he knew.

"I'm in good hands then!" Rada breathed a sigh of relief.

Thanks to Cody's naivety, he could solve this problem.

The language of this new world did not seem particularly difficult, however, it was a bit strange to the eyes. He found similarities with the Anglo-Saxon and Latin of his own world, which was somewhat bizarre, but it helped him grasp the basics right away.

Time seemed to run slow in studying, but it flowed inexorably, it was about to enter the second half of the afternoon already.

"Cody, I have a few more questions to ask."

Rada interrupted his handwriting exercises and turned to the young boy.

"Tell me about this world, how is it broken down? What is it called? I mean you understand, right?" he asked.

He tried to be discreet in asking, so as not to raise doubts, but the curiosity was too strong.

"This world? Let's see..." Cody took a book from the bookcase and showed its contents.

"This is the world of Aurora, this is the continent of men and we are within the Kingdom of Uhr, one of the three great Kingdoms of our continent" with his slender finger, Cody pointed one by one, all the most important places.

"This is our village in the north of the kingdom, here in the center is the capital, Uhr-Delia, famous throughout the continent for its wealth and military power. Much further west, there is the Kingdom of Ghram, despite their society is matriarchal type has nothing to envy to the Kingdom of Uhr. Finally to the south is the Union of Ohristan, famous for its academies and scholars famous throughout the continent."

"Wait a minute, the Union of Ohristan? What's that about?" Rada was particularly intrigued by the latter.

From Cody's explanations, the latter country was clearly a democratic one, where there was no monarchy of any kind in place.

In fact, there was a council of elders at the top of their government, who made decisions by vote. A very unusual thing for the type of era in this world, he was pleasantly surprised by this.

After Cody's explanation, Rada took a closer look at the map of the world and saw that there were territories that were completely undescribed.

"And these territories, who do they belong to?" he asked more and more intrigued, inside he had been making assumptions anyway.

Looking at the spot Rada was pointing at, Cody took a long breath before answering in a serious tone.

"Those are the territories of the Demon Clan and the Beast Dwellings."

(As I imagined, this world of Aurora is getting more and more interesting!) thought Rada with eyes shining with anticipation.
