Rada paused for a moment and raised his head to hear where the howling was coming from.
"Oh no... Please tell me you're kidding!" he was incredulous.
Shivers ran down his spine again, "I need to get out of here!"
Without wasting any more time, he took off running. He had no idea where he was going, the only sure thing was that he had to get out of there.
He didn't know if it was his instinct or simple fear telling him that, but he knew something dangerous was about to happen.
In his rush, he could hear quick footsteps getting closer and closer to him, they were numerous.
"A pack of wolves..."
He immediately thought it wasn't a coincidence, the pup he found was indeed a wolf pup.
"Damn, they want Kiba?"
Little Kiba had been awake ever since he heard the howl, he seemed shaken up as well.
"Damn what do I do? Should I stop and return him?" as he ran without looking back, trying to opt for the best option.
A pack of wolves was no joke, especially for an unarmed person with darkness approaching.
Hearing him speak, little Kiba shook his head, as if telling him he didn't want to go to them.
Rada didn't notice Kiba's reaction to his words; he was intent on running and finding a solution. He didn't even stop to take a breath, even though his legs were shaking.
He had never faced such a situation in his life.
"Courage they are like dogs, only a little wilder."
He tried to make himself brave, characteristically he was not a particularly fearful type. He always tried to act rationally, even in the most difficult situations and for better or worse he managed to get by.
After just a few minutes that he stopped, he could distinctly hear the bushes moving in front of him. The noise was quite deafening, it was as if whoever was approaching was making noise on purpose to be noticed.
As the footsteps slowed, shadows could be seen. Behind the shadows, lights became vivid, they were the eyes of the beasts in front of him.
But something was wrong, "Is this a nightmare...?".
He was paralyzed with fear, a bath of sweat. What he was facing was yes, a pack of wolves, but wolves like this had never been seen before.
At least two meters tall, if not more, strong as bulls, fangs as sharp as razors. Their fur gave a shiny feeling, as soon as the little bit of light that there was rested on it, it was as if every single hair was made of steel. With every step, their paws destroyed everything they touched, leaving a clear imprint of their passage.
The wolves, if they could call themselves that, approached Rada.
Some of them growled in the darkness of the forest, to intimidate their victim, after a few meters from him, they stopped and made room for another wolf coming from the rear.
"The pack leader," he thought.
Rada was as tense as a violin string.
This wolf that came forward was visibly taller and bigger than the others, he was at least ten feet tall and his eyes were as red as blood. The mere sight of him was enough to make his victims faint with fear.
Although he was scared out of his wits, Rada only took a few steps backwards to keep the distance between them. All he was trying to do was not get surrounded. He knew well that despite the danger in front of him, he still had a chance to escape if he didn't get surrounded.
The big wolf watched Rada for a few minutes, there was arrogance in his eyes, as if he knew he was in control of the situation.
He was taunting his victim, for he would have no chance of surviving his fangs.
After that, his eyes fell on the bag, exactly where Kiba was. At the sight of the pup, the big wolf's eyes lit up, his whole body radiating like a strange aura.
Rada opened her eyes wide at the sight of that scene, he could clearly see this flaming aura covering the big wolf's body.
The whole scenery around them grew brighter, but an oppressive and frighteningly alarming kind of brightness. An apocalyptic scene presented itself before the boy.
"Where the hell did I end up!"
Without realizing it, Rada had finally asked the right question.
Although still in shock, he realized what the big wolf wanted.
But he was surprised that the pup didn't want to go to him, he was at the bottom of his bag shaking, but with anger. Rada began to sweat conspicuously, he had guessed the pack's intentions, they wanted to kill the pup.
After taking a few more steps back, he heard a clear, large voice that said, "Kill the human and take the puppy, its useless little life still has a use!".
BOOM!
Another explosion inside Rada's brain.
He really had no idea what was happening but he had no time to be shocked.
The wolf pack advanced towards him.
Escape!
That was the only thought at that moment. He ran away with all the strength in his body without even looking back.
He held the bag tightly, the cub's life depended on him too. Their fate would be forever sealed if the pack caught up with them.
In her wild run, Rada turned her back on a large tree.
Suddenly, he heard a huge roar and turned for a moment, her eyes widening.
He saw the big tree that was being sliced in two by the fangs of the big wolf and made a further sprint forward. It was only a few feet away from him, he could clearly feel its frenzy, it was excited by the hunt.
He lunged with another attack, this time he gave a forward paw and hit him in the back leaving a huge wound, but the impact was not such that the boy lost his balance fortunately.
"Aaaargh!"
Rada's scream echoed through the forest, but he didn't think about stopping at all, that would really be the end of it.
He tried to speed up as much as he could even though the pain in his back was excruciating. He pushed himself beyond his limits, his brain was completely turned to the thought of having to escape from that situation, nothing else.
