Chapter 6 - Chapter Four: Kairos

Kairos berry Athanasius. One of the few names I could never forget. I could remember the times where we ruled the continent of Naza as one until...

Memories I wish to erase.

"Who are you?" I feigned surprise and ignorance looking at the white haired fellow with golden eyes.

Kairos has always been the center of attraction for both genders. Not surprisingly, his cute but sharp features attracted the eyes of many and it seems his beauty is not close to diminishing by even one percent. Rather, he has added a few charm points.

"Who am I? Nefari, don't fake amnesia. But if truly you've forgotten, I could take you back to the bed. Perhaps a few passionate moments re-enacted would remind you. And that reminds me, we did it one time in a forest, hm?"

Halfway through, I knew that Kairos has not matured by a bit.

I should just leave and ignore this troublesome fellow.

I walked past Kairos, attempting to leave. Keyword- attempting.

And just when I got to his side about to pass by, he gripped my hand in his and dragged me into his embrace. And then I heard him say,

"In all honesty, Nefari... Don't you think it's quite cruel to leave me for centuries and come back unexpectedly? and when I finally meet you, you feign ignorance before trying to leave me again?"

I could not tell, maybe it was the way he said it or how much his words touched my heart but after that, I felt a huge flood of guilt overwhelm me.

"I'm sorry..." I whispered. I had acknowledged my mistake.

He sighed before pulling away from me.

"I was informed of your arrival by Astragal. Now tell me, how did it happen? we all thought that you were dead." He said, as he jumped on one of the trees and sat on it's branch. Lazily resting his back on the tree and closing his eyes in what I think was tiredness.

It was a beautiful scene.

Watching as his black and golden colored robe flutter in the wind, his lazy expression and the way the darkness further emphasized his aura of mystery. Along with the way he laid on the tree like it was a normal thing.

All was an odd but beautiful combo.

And he once was mine...

I leaned against one of the trees, somewhat copying his actions before saying,

"I did die, yes. But in my last moment, I used a mysterious divine skill that I had obtained in the celestial lake which gave me a chance to keep my soul from judgement after death. And thereby kept me 'alive' until I stumbled upon a divine relic that gave me a mortal body."

And while I talked, I couldn't stop the memories from pouring in. From the moment I fought a life and death battle in the celestial lake to obtain a divine skill to the place where I had found the divine relic and the phenomenon that I had seen 'living' as a soul.

"Call it luck or grace, I'm alive, now." I smiled at Kairos.

"So what do you plan to do now?" Said Kairos as he opened his eyes looking lazily at me.

He loves doing this. An eye contact with me. A show of challenge or domination? and I always found myself looking elsewhere whenever he does this.

"I plan to get vengeance, of course. But that is if my situation permits. Right now, I am very weak and I would like to stay away from anything or anyone linking to my previous life."

It means I want to stay away from you, Kairos.

"I see,"

I could sense the undertone of anger hidden in his voice.

I think I may have pushed a button by hinting my desire for his absence.

"So you want me to leave? alright." He said as he jumped down from the trees.

And while I watched him walk away, he suddenly paused in his steps, turned to me and said,

"Oh, Nefari? stay away from any tournament in the future. The battle you died on has yet to end."

And with that, I saw a flash of red light and he was gone.

I sighed and kept moving on.

It's not that I'm unfeeling, Kairos. I just don't know how to react. And by staying away from you, I can think of how to react.

If only he knew how much I missed my bestfriend... It's been a while, Kairos. I miss you.

Kairos P. O. V.

You're alive... You can't imagine how happy I was when heard this and how happy I still am. I slaughtered only a few people these past few days because of you, and yet you want me gone...

There is only one person who would make me think twice after making a decision. And that is you, Nefari.

Even after slaying countless enemies, I have never once thought of how gruesome spilled blood was until I saw you get a paper cut.

Memories of our time together continue to invade my mind even after the passing of many years.

Yet you can so easily decide to want to stay away from me?

It seems you're not affected by me at all. But all is well... I've been reading a lot of books on how to tame your type.

I will make you mine.

And you will have to hope on the powers sustaining Naza to hold me back.

Who would've thought the magi's sword would be in my possession?

I will destroy all obstacles.

Staring at the clock hanging by the side of my study room, I decided it was time to check on the progression of the warriors.

And so I dropped the book I was reading, titled, '10 Steps To Understand Your Woman', and I left the room heading towards the capital of Casprain.

Coming out of the forest, fortunately I did not encounter any dangerous things. Be it a phenomenon or an animal. Not that I was surprised as I was following the safe zones. Though I did find strange runic patterns engraved on large stones and trees on my way out.

I stood at the edge of the forest where I saw a road leading to wherever it was leading to. And I saw people in cars and air crafts moving along. There were also a few pedestrians walking by the side of the road.

And then I saw a signboard pointing to where I just came from.

Skyville Forest---->

Warning: Danger Zone.

Hmm? they're probably not aware that they are safe zones. Oh well.

So where should I go to now?

A guild.

Naiyah gave me a list of them that I could join and earn some money.

I brought out the list from my pocket and thought of which one to join.

CRESCENT MOON GUILD

AZURE SWORD GUILD

SHADOW GUILD... And so forth

Ehn... I'll go with the first one on the list. Can't be stressed.

Crescent moon guild, it is.

I followed the instructions on the map but I somehow managed to get lost almost every time even with Naiyah's clear description on the location. And so I found myself asking random strangers for direction before I arrived at a large building with the symbol of a half moon at the top and underneath it in Greek words meaning, 'Crescent Moon Sect'.

"It's also a sect..." I said to myself as I marveled at the beautiful building. It had a very grand, extravagant and imposing structure that would captivate a lot of people by it's decoration.

And anyways, it doesn't matter if it's a sect. Most guilds are often extensions of large sects.

I got close to the building and pushed the glass door open, entering into the building and found the stares of many watching me like a prey.

Am I... A prey to feast upon?

I hope I didn't put myself into the lions den...

Short chapter, I know but still, endure. These are all just fillers to the start of the main plot which is in chapter 6 and above. What do you think of Nefari and Kairos? likeable?

And yes, if you liked this, support me in any way you can { comments etc}. Thank you!
