Chereads / Alchemic Revolution / Chapter 7 - Chapter Five: Adventurer

Chapter 7 - Chapter Five: Adventurer

I moved over to the receptionist. She had red hair and blue eyes with green colored skin and pointy ears. Her most prominent features. Probably a mix of the elvian and mermaid race.

"Hello! I'm Trixie, welcome to the crescent moon guild, how may I help you?" Asked the woman with a smile I could tell was beaming with years of practice.

"Hi. I am Nefari, and I would like to register as an adventurer in this guild." I said.

"You would have to fit in the requirements first." She replied as she was arranging some things.

"And they are?" I asked.

"Be at least, a level three in your profession and have not been in more than two guilds before."

Level three? such high requirement. And I've never been in any guilds before so I pass that requirement.

"Well... Miss, it's been a while since I last checked my level and I've not been a member of any guild." I said.

"No problem," She said as she stood up from her chair. "Wait here while I get the crystal orb to check your level." And with that she left, passing through the door by her right.

I sat down on one of the chairs waiting for her and soon enough, I saw her come back with her perfect smile still in place.

"Here it is," She said dropping the small transparent ball with a flat bottom on the table.

"All you have to do is place your hand on the ball and say this chant, 'matrium'."

I placed my hand on the ball and did as instructed.

"Matrium."

And the ball lit up in a bright blue color.

"Congratulations! You've passed the requirements. You're a level three...?"

"Mage." I replied. Being a magician has always been my passion and talent. And although I could've also chosen warrior or array master which I was skilled in, I wanted a change in this lifetime.

"Good! so I will hand you your badge in twenty-four hours but fill in this form first. Then I can give you an access card to accept missions here, in the guild."

And she handed the form over to me. I took a pen on the table and began filling the form.

Most definitely, I did not give them all the information about myself. That would be plain stupid. And, I'm not even sure about some. My body type- I haven't checked everything concerning my body.

I gave the form back to Trixie- the receptionist.

"Great! so... Take this card and keep it with you. Losing it will make you pay a hefty price. This card is for whenever you want to take your mission rewards. Right now, you're an F-class Adventurer. Complete more missions and collect rewards to improve your rank. Which will give you more access to the guild's training room."

She gave me a transparent card with my name, profession and rank written on it in black color.

And she pointed over to a blackboard by the end of the hall.

"Over there is the mission board. Pick any mission by dipping your thumb in the paint beside the board. And placing your thumbprint on the space underneath the quest. And after doing so, your time limit will be activated and until you complete the mission and bring proof, then you would get your reward. Note; after the time limit is over and you have yet to complete the quest, your thumbprint would erase from the board, giving space to other occupants."

And I nodded and moved to the direction of the board.

Maybe I should take on some little quests to pass time and keep myself active.

I arrived near the big rectangular blackboard and there I saw lots of missions and different rewards, written on paper and pinned on the board.

And at the top of the board, I saw a special note attached, titled, 'How To Level-Up'.

Okay... Now I have a basic understanding of how this works.

Then looking at the missions, I decide to pick three which I think would suit me best. And after deciding, I dipped my thumb in the purple powdered paint and placed it on the three quests I chose. And almost instantly, I saw the time limits get activated.

*SKYVILLE FOREST, SEVEN-STAR PLANT. TIME LIMIT: 1 WEEK, 58 SECONDS. 35POINTS

*GRIMBSBY VILLAGE, HORN OF A CARRIBEAN BEAST (GRADE SIX). TIME LIMIT: 2 WEEKS, 57 SECONDS. 45POINTS

*SPIRIT DUST. TIME LIMIT: 2 WEEKS, 56 SECONDS.

And I left the guild, glad that most of the people staring at me had diverted their attention to something else.

****

I had arrived at Mr. Martel's house during sunrise, spending the night moving around the bustling city watching the interactions of people and... Animals. A few little spirit beasts entertained me as I watched them fight for food. Playing around with their little tricks they probably thought was powerful.

I saw Iris outside, chasing after a butterfly and doing what seems to be her form of persuasion. Stretching her short hands outwards and saying,

"You better come here, butterfly! or I will burn you! five seconds, I'm telling you, five seconds!"

It was a weird scene for the rebellious chipmunk as she was revealing her intention to catch a butterfly. Or burn it.

I cleared my throat to alert her of my presence.

And she turned to me in shock.

"What did you see?" She asked as if prepared to wage war against a level three demon.

"Nothing." I replied wisely for I was filled with wisdom.

"Good. Is there something you want?" She asked.

"Yes. Help me inform your grandfather that he should expect seeing me in a week's time."

"And where are you going?" Asked Mr. Martel as he came out from the building with a large hammer hanged on his back.

"Guild missions." I replied.

"Oh... If possible, how may I contact you?"

And I thought about it, "That shouldn't be a problem... I'll send you messages through my mental link."

"And what if you're far away?" He asked.

"I can manage." I replied with a comforting smile.

"Alright." He agreed with a sigh.

"But come in and prepare first before you embark on your mission."

And that, I agreed to. It won't be bad to take a break and prepare, wouldn't it?

*

After cleaning up and having breakfast with the Martel's, I bid Astragal goodbye as I carried my bag, packed with clothes and a few canned foods by Naiyah. And I used the beast tracking map to look for my target. That was given to me by Mr. Martel.

With this map, I could be protected from a few low-leveled beasts and it would be relatively easier to find a Carribean beast for my quest.

Then after, using my sensors to locate the fairy dust and explore Skyville forest to dfnd the seven-star plant. I know the plant attributes so it wouldn't be too bad to look for the plant in this large forest.

__________

I spent a week to find Grimbsby village and hunt the Carribean beast, bringing it to the guild to get my points. As I didn't have a use for the body, I sold it off for twenty points- far less than the value of the horn. The horn of a Carribean beast was where its power lied at.

And I did see its might... Having a weak body and dealing with a grade six beast was no laughing matter. I got stabbed by its horn with only my strong genes keeping me alive to finish the battle.

Days later, I found the seven-star plant deep in the swamp of the forest surrounded by evolved demonic plants. A pain in the ass, that was. Fighting off the roots with my bare hands. What I've been using since!

To rip the Carribean beast apart, just like the legendary samson, and now, to uproot a bunch of cannibalistic plants from their strog roots. Not any one of the missions was fun.

I got the plant, gloriously bathed in mud as I went back to the guild to get my rewards.

I had to ignore the laughter of some assholes- laughing assholes, hmm... Why did I think of the image?

Anyways, I dropped the plant on Trixie's desk watching the red haired female smile at my misfortune.

Curses be unto thee. Unmannered creatures.

"Seven-star plant?" She sked.

"Yes." I placed the multi-colored plant on the table.

"Give me your card. I'll register it right away."

Said Trixie as she took my card which was stained with mud, wiped it off with a napkin on her table and went in to the door at the left. As usual.

And a few seconds later, she was back with my card.

"Here," She returned the card.

"Thanks."

I was about to leave when I remembered to tell her,

"Trixie, deactivate my task to get the spirit dust."

"Sure." She replied, not looking at me as she buried her head in her computer, typing.

I need rest. My body needs rest. I can't afford to spend energy on a task I may die halfway through due to exhaustion.

There has been no chance for me to rest during my mission. I was constantly on edge, afraid of any sudden attack. And that saved me a lot of times. Truly as Astragal said, demons roam across almost every place I step into! I believe the same could go for the Kingdom and continent. It was almost like a common occurrence, now.

I brought out my card and saw 'E' written in the space for rank. That means... I've gotten at least a hundred points if not more. Great! I could convert it to money and use it to upgrade myself.

I swiped the card up with my finger as instructed by Trixie and a small holographic image appeared above the card and showed me my details.

MISSION TAKEN COMPLETED REMOVED FAILED

3 2 1 0

RANK POINTS

E 100

MONEY TRANSACTION: 5 PTS. FOR 10 COPPER

SWIPE LEFT TO RIGHT FOR YES, RIGHT TO LEFT TO HIDE INFORMATION, AND UP-DOWN TO CONCEAL GENERAL INFORMATION.

Good... I thought.

I swiped my hand down on the card and the image dispersed.

And I shoved the card back into my mud stained pockets. I was disgustingly beautiful.

And as I went back into skyville forest from the guild, the aroma of food coming from Mr. Martel's house almost made me drool from the mouth-watering effect.

"Ah..." I breathed out.

"Food is life... Mana is just a sustaining equipment." I was wrong, though. But at this moment, I felt I was right.

And I moved closer to the building.

**********

A/N: Anyone wondered...What if the food was finished? And laughing assholes. Nefari didn't think of that... I did. But halfway through the image, I dispelled it. And now I'm sure I made someone think of it, too.

Sorry for the late update, I have a few chapters already written down but author-san is too lazy to type. I did give warnings...

I'm tiredddd. I want to hire someone to type for me for free. sigh
