Chapter 15 - Levelling Up

Tyr is standing almost dumbfounded in front of the Adventure Association Building. He needs to get himself a combat class. He is still blown away by how strong Sun Spirit Spear is as an aspect. It can rival a legacy. The dirt is hard under Tyrs' feet walking towards the Merchant guild. He sends a message to each of his friends. All of them send basically the same message just worded differently.

SKY Ocean Hunter: Busy One day at most. Look at the forums on the Shifting Islands. I think we should them.

Lux: Left already, call if you need me. Heading east like agreed.

Styx: No way Hermano love this place.

Tatiana: One Giant business good luck.

Frey: Almost done, then going west with Styx.

Nineth Immortal: Trying to get information on a beast I will call when I know more. Might need your help.

Tyr is glad they have taken so well to the game. In his old life, he underestimated Odyssey, so spent his week killing monsters and levelling up only. Also back then, he was a gold farmer, so he had little freedom. The merchant's guild building is held together by threads. The three-story wooden building has a lean-to it.

Tyr steps into the building to go to the counter where a good-looking boy is standing.

The boy says, "how can I be of service today my lord?" Tyr smiles while other players may already be on a higher level. None of them is noble yet. In front of him, a greyish window with the various services offered to a Merchant player. Tyr clicks the first to register himself as an association member.

The Boy says," Sir, please complete the following quests to complete registration"

He has to do one of the three quests to complete his membership. Rushing out of the building with his three shadows on his heel. Tyr makes his way to the mercenary guild. Unlike in a kingdom run city where he could get a proper job like a warrior, he has to settle for this odd job gladiator. Tyr only wants the Weapons Master Trait from it. Unlike 'proper' classes with the gladiator gets a flat bonus to all weapons damage by five per cent. The only problem is that he will have to hunt for skill, techniques and forms on his own.

The spear and shield from the Trial are gone. Alongside the wonderful light armour suit. Tyr takes this chance to go to the local bakery close to the Weapon shop. He has a ticket that will give a basic assortment of items. Most players got the weapon of their choice via this method. Tyr walks into the puggy lady. Who is holding a tray of freshly baked bread?

She says, "Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't see you there." the player who just bumped into him did not hurt Tyr at all.

Tyr says, " No worries, miss?" Stopping her from dropping everything on the floor. The brown-eyed plumped face human girl. She stares at him, lost in his dreamy eyes. She pats herself down. Plums of flour fill the air.

She says, "Call me Medium Bunz." Tyr has to hold back his outburst. He loves people who have quirky names like this. 'Medium Bunz' is an employee of the shop that much is clear to him. Her pin tells him she is a pure professional. He is disappointed by that, but many players are purely professional. It is, the best method to get a steady income. This is because Cantos Industries pays lifestyles to play the professions and develop new recipes. They keep the designs but the company gets the research notes.

This seemingly mundane thing is how Cantos makes most of its money. As a pointer in many industries, it uses the various methods players develop in-game to test and develop new products.

Tyr says, "Medium Bunz, nice to meet you. I'm Tyr a Merchant, is your boss in?" He needs to make five deliveries to five different villages. Medium Bunz shakes her head.

She says, " But I can handle small quests. I'm guessing you are on your merchant missions." Tyr nods at the girl, who keeps eyeing him up and down.

Tyr says, "How did you guess?" She points to her tray next to a small wooden box.

Medium Bunz says, " I have to make fifty boxes today alone. If only I could make more than bread." Tyr smiles at the clever girl. That she guessed his purpose means she knows he is amiable to take on the side requests. Like NPC's lifestyle, players seek constant improvement in their products so they can make a request and the system will generate side quests.

Tyr says, "Indeed, customers always want a variety of products. However, all the other bakeries sell plain bread only." Medium Bunz smiles at Tyr, who has taken her bait.

Medium Bunz, " If you could supply me with these items, I could make a variety of goods for you to deliver. At least that is why the profits would be higher." Tyr nods, he is going to hunt first to raise his level and get enough money to buy a simple wagon and horse. That way he can do all his merchant mission in one go. Five deliveries, finding a mine and helping a village. Are simple bread and butter missions for a merchant.

Tyr says, "We could do a short-term partnership for six weeks, maybe." Her flour caked hand rubs her chin.

Medium Bunz says, " I can't do exclusivity deal with you, but a simple partnership should be no problem."

Tyr says, " That should be fine, however, I do hope to get the first claim of your product of the day." Medium Bunz eyes flash for a moment. She didn't think that word would be out already.

Medium Bunz says, " If you can afford it, I will sell it to you." Tyr nods at the moment he can't but wonder what kind of product she made. He should at least be able to make twice as much compared to selling plain bread.

Tyr then says, let's sign a contract." She nods and hands him her list. Tyr's diplomacy skill activates a mini-game only he can see. The window reads 'Your first Contract'. Inside the mini-game is simply he has to fill in his name and Medium Bunz's. The contract extends and it automatically puts several clauses in. Tyr removes any penalties on her but leaves one that says if he cannot deliver, he has to give the next shipment for free. Once he finishes the contract, it appears in his hand.

Medium Bunz takes a step back. She has never had someone cast a spell in a shop. Even the battle hunger freaks only fight outside the city. She grabs a hold of a random spatula that's on the counter. Tyr opens his hand as the contract unfurls itself.

Medium Bunz says, "Sorry, I thought you were trying to intimidate me like that other Merchant player." Tyrs' ears burn.

Tyr says, "what other merchant player." Medium Bunz describes the man. Using her hands to show how fat the man is and her body mimics how he walks around.

Medium Bunz says, "Let's add each other as friends if he comes back. I will give a piece of my Bunz haha!" She laughs out loud interlaced with a few snorts. Tyr also laughs. He waves goodbye at her. She stands by the door, admiring his fine ass walk away. Whilst he walks to the blacksmith's shop.

As Tyr feared, players are planning to raid the Shifting Islands as soon as it appears. Leaving him little time to get herbs. He needs a quick injection of silvers. At this point, only NPC's will have enough silver. The Shifting Island is important to him and SKY Ocean Hunter. they still have to get to level ten first and get him the Water Goddesses special cleric class before they raid the island.

The shop is filled wall to wall with common weapons. The vendor is a shrivelled NPC called Kito. Tyr looks at his name. It feels odd to him, like the name doesn't belong to a person Lugiria. The continent of Lugiria has names that mostly start with vowels sounds. It's not to say that NPC is evil, but he is odd.

Tyr hands over his ticket, the NPC didn't respond well to his greeting even with his increased charm. Tyr doesn't take it personally after all, he could just e having a bad day or something. Kito's wrinkled hands drop a box with Common boots, Common Pants, Common Sword, Common Spear. He has many more slots to fill but with a basic armour rating of ten. He should be able to get what he needs from monster drops.

Tyr thanks the odd man, heading north toward the level five area. Even as a level one, he is confident in his ability plus. He will get more experience in defeating higher levelled monsters.
