Dear diary, Today is my first day as a teacher. Well much like a substitute teacher at Wisconsin high school. My parents are going to flip once I tell them the good news. As for my sister... She knew about the news before anyone else. She always does. Back to high school again huh! (sigh)I took a deep breath and headed to meet the principal.
Mr.Mertin Mé gave me the files alongside a peek of my check after my month's stay at his school. Luck was the only thing I needed. Honestly, I couldn't believe that I get a chance to teach students. Not to mention that I am only in my second year of training to be a teacher. Quiet young, I know but this was an opportunity I couldn't leave behind. Well according to him they were "Monsters".I was shaken once hearing this coming from the principal himself.
Oh! well, how bad can it be?
The statement he said got a bit into my head. I couldn't stop myself from thinking about it. The word 'monsters itself echoed in my head like a broken record. Let me just clear my head and drink my confidence boost.
'S-sorry I bumped into a person. Wow, Sebring Day (my name by the way)First day and you are already as clumsy as a newborn deer trying to walk. My papered files together with his flew with the wind. I chase after them not realizing such a mess I caused. Again I hit his forehead with my elbow. Poor guy must have wished that he never bumped into me. I pushed everything on my way. All that mattered was retrieving the papered files. At long last, I catch up to them.
In the awkward moment in chasing runaway papers, he had followed behind me. I knelt to collect them yet offering my apologies. This was embarrassing. The only thing on my mind was to finish collecting his and my stuff and get to running.
' S-sorry I repeated me while handing him his papers."No worry"I hear him say. Oh wow, I was fluttered. I rose and stood upright. No denying that I felt as though I was staring at an angel. I froze in time as I watched him walk away. Anyways I needed to get to my first prep. I turned the other way- back to minding my own business. That is if I were to ever find the class I was in.
Finally, I find it. Class 1ad? I think that is about right. I open the door only to be met by monsters being monsters. They turned their class into a club. How was I ever to survive this class? At least I know that he wasn't lying. I was warned. So if anyone was to be blamed for this choice was me and only me alone. Gosh! I still can't the angel I met out of my head.
Suddenly a paper airplane comes crashing into my face. "Hey...guys this must be the new teacher and we were supposed to have a free lesson today" a school jock dressed in a college jacket shouted out. Everything fell into silence. I was a fool to think that it'll remain like this.
I introduce myself adding that it was my first day. Also begging for them to take it easy on me. Completely dorky. I was sure that I was done for. "Don't worry miss S, we'll be nice ...right guys" Another student assures me from across the room. Maybe not that bad as I thought. I smile and take a sit immediately starting the lesson. Only in the middle of the lesson did realize that I was glued to the chair.
All of them laughed historically. Real original¿ Funny¿ At least they got some entertainment from it. The rest of the lesson consisted of them humiliating me. After the end of the class, I waited for help while soaring through my papers. Believe me, some of them were not mine at all. I check again only to find a name written on the papers. Renée Rouse. It could be the angel I met earlier.
Since some of my papers were missing too. This could only mean...(eek) Destiny.
