I stood with the glaze over my eyes and all I could hear was the wail of what seemed to be thousands of warriors having some mounted on horses in a raging war with uprising smoke due to the catastrophic collision of good and evil.
"He's down". I heard a feminine voice say and soon enough, I turned towards the direction of the voice only to feel a hand beneath my arms sitting me up straight.
"What happened?" I asked finally regaining my sight realizing how awful and agitated Angelica looked. She shivered while looking at me before I spotted a tear drop from her right eye which had a blue glow
"Your chest, you're bleeding, you're massively bleeding". She continued still sounding dismayed, only then did I notice that a spear had been thrusted into my cardiac region as I sat quietly on the floor. I stretched my right hand towards the spear but I felt so much pain, I couldn't do without the pain, it was so intense and severe that I felt I couldn't survive. My breath steadied as I bled through my heart and spat out blood still trying to focus my eyesight on her.
"It's over Davis, we've lost, but I can't afford to lose you this way, I can't afford to see you die this way". She added nodding her head, this time she
"I'm going to be OK", I said giving her a bit of hope which I knew wasn't going to negate the fact that I wouldn't make it, "It's not the end, I promise you, we don't have to fight hard, we fight smart".
"Please don't leave me, don't leave us" she whispered sniffing in the mucus which ran down her nose. And before I could say a word, I layed down helplessly on her arms. I could still hear her voice as she cried, I felt pain but confused if it was due to the hurt or her emotions for me. The sounds of destructive forces in collision couldn't be with-held as she uttered.
"You're not, it's not going to be fine. Its plain Davis, it's over, there's no hope".
"How do you mean?" I asked
"Look around, just take a look if you can".
Using up my last strength, I turned round sighting lots of dead bodies below the high plains of where I layed, and right before my very eyes, I saw the unthinkable. There was exchange of powers from both sides having some hover above the ground, others gaining dominance over natural forces using it to their advantage as the war settled in full force. Lightning flashes shown very bright and the undaunting sound of thunder like the roar of the seven seas streamed in the fear and erriness which lead to her words of defeat. High above the sky stood a lady in dark apparel which went down her toes with the air flapping against her scarf.
"This is just the beginning", she stated in a very sinister tune, "the end is yet to come, but we will fight to the very end".
The atmosphere was polluted with explosions and chants which sounded like incantations made me wonder what it meant, yet in all of these, I layed helpless in the arms of Angelica watching her stare in fright as though all hope was lost, but I couldn't do without believing that it wasn't ever.
"And as for you" continued the lady in a sinister aura pointing her long dark nails towards my path having my attention, "Consider yourself lucky that you have to die slowly. It's high time the world realizes that nothing is greater than mischief, pain and destruction. I'm so merciful, but in my mercies lay your doom".
Clenching her fist, she rose higher into the sky and balls of lightning flashed all around her knuckles.
"Nooooooo!!". Screamed Angelica as we both watched her heading towards our path about to strike my whole being. This was it, the end of the beginning, my whole life I've tried to succeed, I've tried to be a good leader, a leader with a legacy unfathomable of supernatural cause, yet I layed in my fears, choked in my tears drenched in my misery of failure. Her concern kept me warm, but our failure kept me cold, yet there was nothing I could do to set us free from the wrath of the she devil.
Deep down my being I was electrocuted to my last breath, the whole wave was so strong that Angelica flew at once to a far distance. I screamed and groaned in pain achieving nothing but death, my eyes closed slowly in tears and my spirit was laid bare in me.
"It's over", I heard a voice say right beside me "Let it be that the rest live and I die in shame of my deceit".
This was meant to be my mess, my consequence for not believing, and my fate as a loser, but everything became sour realizing that Howard took the death punch for me. He laid down with a hole pierced in his stomach, there was no way he was going to survive. None of this was an illusion, everything was real though I wished I could have taken my place to die, yet a guardian took my place, and now my fate will be changed.
I saw the look of disappointment in her eyes as though disgraced by the misfortune, and as if it wasn't enough, she summoned more lightning bolts in order to erase me from the land of the living. But to my amazement, I saw the dragon's blue flame pass through her body and she screamed out loud in pain averting the lightning flashes to her face in fear before vanishing into a portal alongside the rest of her accomplice.
I turned left wards only to see Angelica's whole body morph back into her normal self, she was ruled by her animal spirit and her whole eyes glowed blue together with her hair.
I was abashed by the whole situation, I cried and prayed for death but it seemed like death was evitable in my cause. Angelica stood in tears and I saw seven other people rising up from the floor defeated and terrified. I couldn't believe that it was the end, I believed that the end couldn't be to our disgrace, the end was meant to be our victory.
"Davis!!, Lyon Davis!!!" I heard a voice call from a mile away echoing through and through. "Davis wake up!!". The voice continued. I felt a very cold fluid splash on my face and I rose up from the bed terrified but grateful for being alive and bewildered to find myself on Angelica's bed. This and all I saw poised out to one question, what really happened?
