"Namea! Sweetie? Can you come here for a second?"
At the sound of my mothers voice I had reluctantly woken up. I seem to have slept in late. oh well, nothing new. I sit up from my bed and stand onto the wooden floor. Slowly making my way towards the dresser for a change of clothes. I then move over to my mirror in an attempt make myself look at least a little presentable. I look at my messy dark brown hair and my tan skin.
"Ugh, I'm a mess."
I go to the stand that sits near my bed and grab a brush to fix my hair as best as possible. It's not exactly nice and straight like usual, but I can at least leave my room without looking like a wreck. After I set my brush back where I found it, I make my way out of the room. The main room of our house comes into view as I look at my mom who is sitting in on a couch, reading what looks to be a newspaper. I move towards her to try to get her attention.
"What did you need?"
She looks over to me, putting down the paper and with a smile upon seeing my face says to me
"I was going to say you should get dressed and ready, because dad is gonna come home soon with Lynn. Don't forget we're all going to the festival tonight."
I groan in frustration as I remember the festival.
"Seriously? Do I really have to go to the festival tonight? Isn't it still going to be going on tomorrow?"
My mom looks at me with a more serious face.
"Don't get that attitude with me Namea. You know your father works insane hours just to let us live in such a nice house. This couch, these clean floors and walls. All of it is because your dad works hard for it. Plus he doesn't get a free day tomorrow, today is the only chance."
I let out a sigh and look towards the window sitting in front of my mother.
"You are right, It's just today feels like it'd be so much nicer to relax inside and not do anything anyway."
My mom then grabs the paper once again and starts reading.
"I've set a bath for you to go and get washed up."
I Immediately respond to her
"W-what?! I just put these clothes on shouldn't they be fine enough?"
My mom still staring at her papers responds to me
"You also just woke up and didn't bathe last night so please just clean yourself."
I groan once more walking over to my room to grab the Purple dress mom got me to wear for the festival. I then head to the bathroom and notice the wooden tub set out for me. I get ready for my bath and begin to clean myself. After taking the bath and get my clothes on, I get out of the bathroom, and my mom is dressed up and ready to go. Once she notices me she begins to give off a look that seems as if she's about to tear up.
"You look so beautiful, come here, I'll fix up your hair for you."
"My hair is just fine, nobody is going to care what I look like going out today."
"Today is also a very important day in our history, You shouldn't disrespect our ancestors as they worked hard so that we could live like this."
Reluctantly I walk over to the dining room chair as she goes into her room and grabs a brush. She then begins to stand behind me and then brushes my hair out and styles it in a way that she thinks would look good on me.
"So, Namea. Your sister is getting older, becoming more aware of her surroundings, which means that she'll be looking at you, her older sister as a role model. I expect you to step up and become somebody she can look up to as her older sister. That means being more responsible, not waking up in the afternoons, making sure you have proper manners when speaking. I know you don't like it, but that's the way the world works nowadays. Nobody likes people who go against the flow of their natural days."
I roll my eyes and sigh
"But mom its literally as you said, I don't like those things. Plus being all proper is not like me. I want to just be me."
My mom stops working on my hair and steps in front of me.
"I understand exactly what you mean by that and honey, I feel exactly how you do. It's just that there are times where we can not be ourselves in order to improve our own lives. Do you think your dad got his job or this house by being himself all the time?"
I look down at the floor.
"I guess not."
She leaves me for a second to head into her room only to come out with a mirror and points it to me.
"Look at you, You are growing into a beautiful lady, no matter who you become I will love you."
I blush at the sound of my mothers words, then look at what my mom had done to my hair. I don't look that bad. Looking at myself I begin to feel more confident and motivated to go outside.
"Thanks, I'll try my best not to let you down."
She smiles at me and walks off to her room to put the mirror and brush back. I get up to head over to the couch to relax until father gets home to pick us up. Upon getting up I see the door open with my father who is holding my sister's hand.
"Looks like you're finally up, And you're all dressed up too!"
Lynn breaks off from dad and runs over to me.
"Look at what dad got me!"
I look at her and at a better glance, she is wearing a really nice red dress I've never seen her wear before. Her hair has also been done, so father must have taken her out to get prepped. I kneel down to get to Lynn's level and give her a smile.
"You look so pretty! I'm sure that even Queen Theresia can't rival your beauty."
Lynn gave me a huge smile and looked back at our father.
"When are we going to go to the festival, I want to see the fireworks!"
My dad then looked over at Lynn
"When your mother is ready we'll get along and leave for the festival so be ready."
On queue my mother walks out of her room in a white and gold dress.
"Welcome back honey."
My mom then walks over to my dad and she gives him a kiss on the cheek.
They then both look over at me and Lynn.
"Are you both ready?"
Father says to us as me and Lynn look at each other and with synergy we both exclaim,
"Yes!"
My father then grabbed my mom's hand and pointed us to the door as he walks out with mother. Me and Lynn promptly follow right behind them as we head out into town to celebrate the yearly revolution festival. The walk took us about five minutes to get to the main area, the sound of people grew louder and louder as the crowds became more dense. As we saw all these crazy stands and delicious food Me and Lynn couldn't keep still. Our dad warned us to stick together as we don't want to get lost in such a huge crowd.
"Hey dad can you carry both me and Lynn on your back? That way we won't get lost. You're strong right?"
He laughs and looks over at me and grabs both Lynn and I, lifting us up onto his shoulders. My sister and I look at each other as we begin to move again through the festival area. Hours pass as we spend time at food stands, minigame booths, and street performers all around. It is almost time where everyone gathers at the town center to light the fireworks, after the ruler of the town Willem Vavillion gives a speech to the townspeople. The streets began to light up as the sky began to get darker and darker. Suddenly, I heard a huge group of people cheering and surrounding an Elven man who seems to be dancing with fire. He span so fast that it looked as if he was going to hurt himself but moved in a way that nothing came out of it.
"Look at him daddy! He's spinning fire! Its so cool!"
Lynn points over at the dancing man as our father looks over at him.
"Indeed he is, that man is very talented. Maybe someday you'll both be able to bring fire at your will like that if you try hard enough."
The thought of being able to do something like that fills me with excitement. Another hour and a half passes as we spend more time seeing the interesting things this festival brings us. Eventually it was time for the speech and then the fireworks, the event everyone had been waiting for. Father kept us on his back as we made our way to the town center. So many people gathered around. A spherical stage was placed at the center where everyone gathered around. I saw a man in what seemed to be a very expensive suit. He cleared his throat and raised his hand, After this everyone in the area began to quiet down to listen, this man is Willem Vavillion.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, three hundred years ago the people of Edraeon were ruled under a Tyrannical man by the name of Otomo Morsk. In this rule he crushed anyone who ever dared to criticize him. He separated people who came from different lands, declared war on people who wanted to fight back against such oppression. As a matter of fact, the land that we stand on today was ravaged by said war. That was until on this day, Cyphus Angelos who led a band of mercenaries hired by Otomo to protect him; had stabbed Otomo in the back and took Edraeon into a era of peace and freedom. The glorious line of Cyphus still lives today with King Sepharin. We celebrate on this day to commemorate Cyphus's honorable actions that set this country free from such a evil person."
The crowd then claps, cheers, celebrating the anniversary of the war ending.
"Now without further ado we shall get to what everyone is waiting for."
Once Willem finished his speech he had clapped his hands. After a few seconds a firework was shot out into the air, and as it had exploded, a loud unknown sound separate from the firework explosion had erupted. Right then and there, I heard many people screaming; looking over at the source of the screams I had seen people collapsing to the ground along with those who had seemed to touch the collapsed people. My mind started getting woozy as I heard more and more screams, and the continued booms of the fireworks that Illuminated the sky. Suddenly I felt a strong pain in my body as I scream in response to the pain, Lynn right after me had screamed along with me. My father had collapsed to the ground dropping us in the process. The impact of the fall had dazed me for a few seconds, after I regain my senses I noticed that my father hadn't gotten up, upon a further look, it had seemed that a lightning-like energy was being emitted out of the bodies of Lynn's and mine. This energy, from the looks of it had been harming my father. I try to get up from the ground to check on Lynn to see if she was alright, instantly noticing the color of my skin had changed to blue, my hair as well had changed to violet purple. Seeing these changes, all I could do was just lay there frozen in terror as I had no idea what was going on. People began running off and dispersing, as others who had been electrocuted were on the ground too pained to get up, trampled by a panicked crowd, or avoided in fear of getting hurt. There were others just like Lynn and I from the looks of it. Their skin color had changed to very weird colors. Red, green, purple and more. The shock of the scene became too stressful for me to take in and eventually I began to lose consciousness. Everything was dark, not a sound could be heard anymore from my ears.
"Where am I? What am I?"
"Oh right, That was five years ago huh. Ever since then nothing has ever been the same. Ever since then my father believed that I was some devilish curse that was brought upon Otomo himself."
Eventually my thoughts began to fade as I hear a muffled voice in the distance. I try to open my eyes as my vision started as a blur, I see the sky, I see, a person? They are hovering over me. Their voice began to get clearer and clearer.
"Hello???? Are you in there? Wake up."
