Chapter 20 - Filling the gaps

Third P.O.V

It wasn't until another two hours that a delivery truck finally decided to grace "Tackles" with its presence.

Carson being exceptionally hangry glared daggers at the poor, pale and frail delivery man who had extraordinary strength for his size. After signing the papers and settling the beans bag in the storeroom the pair finally left the cafe after carefully locking it behind them. The sun had started setting on its horizon making Carson well aware of how exhausting his day had been.

"Bengie, what would you like to be paid with?" -Adelaide spoke as she walked in front of him.

"How about your life?"

"Oh! what if I said it's all yours?" -Adelaide turned around to face Carson and smiled mischievously. Watching her made Carson smile. He loved it when they played along with each other.

"If that's the case then, how about we" -Carson trailed off as he looked at their surroundings.

"We?" -Adelaide halted her steps as she waited for Carson.

"We race to see who pays the bill?" -Carson suggested

"How about we don't?" -Adelaide replied while flashing an annoyed smile at Carson.

"But your life's mine, I can use it as I like." -He smirked like a villain and moved forward.

"Eh, well then here's a suggestion. How about we fill your famished stomach and then we go cycling? Running doesn't seem fun."

"I shouldn't be letting you strike a deal with me but, that sounds tempting."

"Then grab it." -Adelaide whispered as she went to Carson caught his hand and directed him to the eatery not too far from where they stood.

With their stomachs full and minds off of the playful scenario, Adelaide and Carson made their way to the coast and simultaneously rented two bicycles online. As they were nearing the coast they found the rental shop and picked up their bicycles. Putting on their safety gear as per Carson's wishes they hopped onto their respective cycles and started off slowly and soon started racing.

The subtle air slowly picked its pace and gushed on the two's face and bodies as they slowly and gradually picked their pace while peddling faster. The smiles naturally came onto their lips as they enjoyed every moment that passed by.

"Wasn't it a wonderful suggestion?" -Adelaide spoke as she huffed in air and got off of her bicycle.

"It sure was." -Carson replied catching his breath. "Don't you think you took this a little too far?"

"Oh how so?" -Adelaide replied with a smirk, very well knowing what he meant.

"Why did you speed up so much?!" -He replied as he parked his cycle by the tree and took a seat by it.

"Eh? Didn't you want a race?"

Adelaide received no answer from him which made her inwardly do her victory stance.

"Your stamina sure has gotten worse." -Adelaide teased.

"None of your concern." -He pouted and looked away.

Giggling, Adelaide went and sat beside him. Sitting beside each other, they spent time together in silence and enjoyed the nature surrounding them.

"Maybe we should do this more often." -Carson spoke and Adelaide hummed in response.
