"I'm not a witch , completely . I'm a Witch , as well as a Morkoth . I can hypnotise people . "
I puckered my eyebrows in confusion and asked , " But aren't Morkoths aquatic ? You can't leave a water body , right ?"
She agreed with me . "Yes . But as I said , my mom's a Witch and dad's a Mirkoth . They had met quite dramatically , before she discovered that she was supernatural . Once dad found out that she too was supernatural , both got married and mom used her magic to let him walk on earth too . It made me a hybrid and I could walk around as well . "
I understood . Morkoths were also known to be so very beautiful that people couldn't move . Those humans who had gotten a glimpse of those creatures would have to give up their most precious memory in exchange , at a specific place , if any of the Morkoths accept their request .
Beth was really beautiful indeed but she was way too awkward for any of us to feel free to compliment her . She had long lashes and clear chocolate skin . She was the perfect ideal height for anyone , not too long nor short . Her hands were slim and she was a slender woman . Her eyes were electric blue and full of life , unlike her personality .
"So... Nothing happens to a supernatural person if they look at you ?" I asked her with curiosity .
She hesitated a little bit before saying , " They do , actually . I just cast a spell on myself , self reflecting . "
"What do you mean by that ?"
"Your memories would've gone even if you resisted . So I cast a spell that made my memories vanish instead of you guys."
So that was why her memory had gone . She was having a hard time giving away sweet memories on behalf of all of us . But she had gotten her memory back , and also , wasn't Ben a human ? He was definitely one . I pushed Beth to clarify my doubts . Her story wasn't done yet .
"Well , Ben doesn't know that I'm a Mirkoth so he wouldn't be affected . Also when my memories were gone , you had a lot going on . You were mostly away and it was only Jaden and me here . He made sure that I was okay and went around the house . It must have been a little tempting for him because Morkoths have normal human blood in their veins . Only our brains function differently . He wanted blood so he kept away from me and made me feel safe most of the times ."
I tilted my head slightly in confusion and asked , "Most of the time ? So there were times when you felt vulnerable in the house with dad here and you never thought to tell us ? I would've found another way for you to be taken care of !"
She probably didn't trust me . That's what I told myself until she started speaking again . The sky was slowly gaining it's bright colours and we could see around more clearly than before . I wanted her to finish before anyone else woke up and made her awkwardly silent again .
"Don't think that it's because of Jaden . It was none of his fault , really ! "
I stopped spacing out and gestured my head forward , telling her to continue . "You see , it was only one night . He was awfully worried about you and was pacing about . I told him that he should rest and that I could take care of myself just fine . He was really stressed so he went back to his room . Everything was fine until I heard the front door open . At first I thought that you had come back and I would finally see him calm again but I heard a different male voice . It was Nate . He introduced himself to me and offered to give me my memories back . He was the head of Morkoths , apparently . Nobody had ever seen him among our kind . He was the first among us to find a way to walk on earth . We talked and he gave me my memories back . "
She stopped talking , hesitating to talk again . I could bet on anything that she was keeping the most important part .
"Oh come on ! Just tell it to me already !" I was excited all right , but I never expected what came out of her mouth the next second .
"I gave him control over my soul." She looked down .
Silence . I didn't respond . She didn't ask me to respond either .
A few minutes after , the others started waking up . "Oh my ! Beth and Rene being awake before us is a miracle ." Dry laughs from all of them followed after .
Should I tell them ? Beth didn't look like she wanted to betray us . But I had no way of identifying when she would be in control of Nate himself . He was a Mirkoth , that I knew now . But when he was active among us ? I needed to find a way .
I smiled at Beth reassuringly when I caught her staring at me anxiously . Cora's husband had barged in to get her , mad . It was a common thing now because her husband couldn't stand watching Nathaniel beside her . Marge trusted Nath so we only had to deal with one problem . Cora's husband , Jake was hot tempered .
I imagined Jake's reaction if he found out that his wife was a Witch and a majority of her friends were supernatural too .
Marge and Nath cooked breakfast while Ben and I arranged the tables . Dad and Kate were nowhere to be found . They had slipped out while we were in between the hustle and bustle from the kitchen .
I had let everyone know that Beth needed some rest and led her to the guest room. If we were discussing something important , I didn't want Nate to know anything . I didn't know if I would've been the only one to see her active in her dreams or if others would've also seen it if they were awake . Was it another power of a Berthim or was it something that a Morkoth had ?
