Chapter 23 - Argus Bacchoio

It looked like it was just another day in the Viribius Academy. But it was already a different day from any other day.

The students and the professors were analyzing each and every single one of their moves as in front of them is one of the most highly regarded mages in the continent.

The Guardian, Argus Bacchoio, a full tenth tier magician. Highly renowned as a mage. Despite his age being over 80 years, his youthful appearance has deceived most people and topics such as using forbidden magic to be youthful is going around whenever he's there.

He always comes around like a clockwork in the Viribius academy once every five years. But for this time, its different.

He's spectating on what goes on in the academy. He's known to be the friends of the founder of the academy himself, Viribius himself.

He was the one that was passed down to inherit the school and bring it back to its glory. And that's why he's here, to announce the upcoming tournament.

The gates opened as soon as his presence was noticed by the guards.

Each step he took, it was like a ripple in a pond as the surge of mana engulfed the entire academy. All the professors felt something as they looked outside of the windows as they were teaching in their classes.

The students felt the oppressive aura, unable to move, some passing out.

A menacing, cold and dark aura with the beautiful color of brown.

The Tower Master, Ashphragora Hecarion Zexavius suddenly appeared in front of the academy. With a single wave of his hand, small red orbs of light appeared and a staff appeared. A large red orb at the very top of it began to swirl around and a bright beacon of light shot upwards.

It then stopped, as if hitting some sort of barrier and then it began to expand and expand until it engulfed the arena with a red light of his own magic. "Lion's Heart." Hecarion exclaimed.

The light surrounding the academy began to break like broken pieces of mirrors, slowly falling to the ground. As soon as the fragments comes in contact with anything, it disappears into nothingness.

The oppressive aura that Argus spread disappeared without a trace. The students felt a wave of relief as if their worries disappeared.

Lion's Heart, a 4th tier spell that cleanses the mind of someone and reverts it back to their 'normal' state. Normal mental state is different from everyone but it basically resets the negative effects that were added prior to activating Lion's Heart.

Argus' aura applied a couple of debuffs to those who weren't strong enough to withstood it and that was negated by the spell that Hecarion cast.

"You sure know how to make yourself known Argus." Hecarion smirked as he put away his staff with a wave of his hand. Disappearing into thin air.

"Well, seems like nothing really changed. I hope you can provide some excellent students this ti-" Argus looked at the top of the academy of the open rooftop. A killing intent was coming in his way.

"What was that..?" He asked himself. It was like in the color of gold. An aura that harbored such sadness and pain that he couldn't understand. He only caught a glimpse of that aura but he felt as if he was staring at the abyss itself. The power knew no limits, boundless, empty, yet completely filled at the same time. "Indescribable," He thought to himself.

He tapped his staff at the ground twice, creating a small pocket of dimension around the entire academy. His staff changed appearance and turn that into an hour glass. "Time Pocket." Freezing time in that small area. Those spectators outside of the space has its time flowing. But those inside of the pocket dimension is frozen in time.

"Flight." He flew upwards to the very top of the rooftop. "I think they already escaped. If they can emit that aura, then they won't really be stuck with such a trivial thing such as time magic." He thought to himself as most high level casters always find a way to counter time magic. But to his surprise, he saw someone there.

A golden aura surrounded their hands as they were pulling out their sword from thin air.

"A child..?" He thought to himself. "How could they pull this much power... And a golden aura..?" Curiosity, filled his mind. He reached out, to his head. He was about to cast a spell, "Mind Tran-"

"Silence." A sudden voice came out of nowhere.

"Mmm!?" Argus found himself unable to cast his own spell for being silenced. He looked to his side and saw Schaffer, visibly angry. His face was indifferent but Argus felt fear in those eyes of his.

Schaffer waved his hand and the Silence effect disappeared on Argus. "I felt a Chrono Magic activating."

"Schaffer..?" He asked. "This child."

"Avan Neidleest, his name. And you are not allowed to peek into his memories."
