In the far south lied a group of researchers who somewhat were to able to give a reason behind this catastrophe. They mentioned that the break in space and time through the white holes which was at that time [Before the fall] topic of scientific research had now been verified and was declared as the most plausible explanation for this catastrophe.
The radiations that were coming out of the white hole caused genetical changes in some of the humans and granted some with extraordinary abilities while some suffered terminal diseases, and some remained unaffected.
The ones who gained abilities came to be known as the Retaliators.
As Rein stood before the seven, two little children who appeared to be unaware of the situation came rushing in jolly spirits without a care in the world.
"Get back you two!" one of the men exclaimed.
"I told you not to not to cross the inside border of the village," shouted another.
The two kids were struck with fear as one of them mumbled," but the elder told us to play outside."
With a weak voice the other kid said," they... they are treating mom and... and she was shouting. We were scared, so we came here."
On hearing this one of the men said in a worried voice," looks like her condition is worsening again."
The topic of discussion seemed to have shifted from Rein to the ill woman.
Taking note of the situation Rein said in rather deep but still childish voice," I can treat her if you let me. The only thing I ask in return is a place to stay for a few days."
"Why would we trust you." one of the men shouted.
"With the condition of the world as it is right now, your options are limited" Rein replied.
With no reply at hand the man grunts and grits his teeth.
At this point one of the ten elders of the village who came after looking for the two children, had overheard the conversation and with the limited resources available he agreed to the aid the stranger was offering but with one condition that they would confiscate his weapons to allow him entrance in the village.
Rein agreed to the condition and lifting his sword in a swift manner he put it down vertically in the soil which on contact with the soil went half its length in.
Now all that he had was a bag inside his shrug hanging from his waist, which he refused to hand over saying that it was something precious which cannot let go of.
The elder considered his reason and allowed him, to enter the village.
