James remained quiet. He had half-expected it to happen. Although, he was more inclined to the idea that Adrian would stay and Winston, to end up with a broken nose. "He really changes when it comes to her." James thought. When in a fight, James is usually the one to pull out first. The one to think logically but when the scene includes Jennifer, all the tables turn. Finally, Adrian released the last bit of information. "When got home, she changed and then I went out to get her food. I heard whimpers while filling a glass of water. I got there, and saw her crying, hugging her soft toy. We need to teach him a lesson."
James could easily make out the grief on his eyes turning into burning rage, the pain into loathing hate as he placed a hand on his shoulder. "Just as the things between me and her were getting close and nice. Just as I was about to think she would begin to like my company. Just as I was hoping to see her in my arms as MINE. This Kurt turns up and now we get back to zero." James could feel sincerity in each word Adrian said and obviously, if everything was going to crash at a war between the emotional and mental state of two teenagers, he was going to be on Adrian's side. "So, what are you planning to do?" James asked. Adrian's mouth curved up in a triumphant smile. "Since, you have agreed to help me, half of the war is already in my pocket. Now help me finish the rest by hurting him where it hurts the most."
"Care to explain, what that would be?" James could already smell the revenge in the air. "Kurt Smith and his family are the owners of multiple casinos, of course illegal. I did my research work. It is their biggest source of income, which is again, black money. So, we are going to burn it down." Adrian finished his sentence with a smirk. His voice was casual as if they were planning to buy ice-cream in a hot summer picnic. "Maybe yes." James joined him. " You know, I always love a bit of fire play." They both were ready. This had to happen. Kurt needed to be taught a lesson about who he was messing with.
"Ah! I forgot. I left in a hurry. I should probably apologize to Jennifer for my rude behavior in the morning." Adrian jumped at the sudden realization. James burst into laughter. "What?" Adrian asked him. "I just can't believe you are the same person who was plotting to burn a casino down. Which for your information is a legally punishable crime. But you get so soft when it comes to her."
"I should apologise for my rude behavior."
James mocked Adrian's tone. Adrian scowled at him. "Nevertheless, A coffee would do it." James winked. A coffee date with Jennifer was a nice idea! Adrian texted Jennifer saying that he was sorry for his behavior in the morning and would like to invite her to drink coffee with her as a token of apology. On the other hand, Jennifer had the same idea because she wanted to thank Adrian for what he had done for her at the party. She was about to text him for the same but Adrian's text came just in time. So, Jennifer happily agreed.
Jennifer reached her room and started getting ready. She picked out a cropped embellished denim jacket, with high waist corduroys and laced leather heeled ankle boots. She did her hairstyle and picked up her purse. By the time she got downstairs, she spotted Adrian in a white turtleneck, dark denim and a gray tweed overcoat and his famous smirk that he was probably born with.
"You look stunning." Adrian complemented her. "So do you." Jennifer said as she linked her arm with Adrian's and walked out of house. When they pulled up in the parking lot, Jennifer could see the cheerful and brilliant lighting of the shop as they both walked across the vast parking lot, their hands still linked with each other. There were tables outside the shop each with a brown vintage style umbrella. This particular coffee shop is not a cafe, it's a coffee shop literally. They sold the finest coffee from all over the world. It also had a book corner in the left hand side of the shop where one could buy books. They made very good coffee as well.
This place is an ideal place for students and employees to release stress. As they both made their way through the transparent glass door, a blanket of warm air hit them and the rich aroma of coffee which was delectable. The noise the customers made was immense which reminded Jennifer of how popular a place this is. Ivory-colored granite and antique dark-brown leather adorned the reception. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered the perfect view of ugly, beautiful, fake, real, raw world outside, in all its glory. They made my way to the coffee bar at the end of the shop made of reclaimed wood. A barista stood before them. He welcomed them with a charming smile. Adrian got a cup of Americano and Jennifer ordered a cappuccino and paid for it in the next counter. The aged wooden floor creaked beneath them as they walked towards the table.
They made themselves comfortable on a bulky wooden chair. When Jennifer was about take the first sip of her cup of coffee the looks of the cup caught her eye. It had a very rich vintage look itself. The cup was in white and the details were in bronze. The fresh hot coffee warmed her palms as she took the first sip. The invigorating smoky taste was heavenly. "This is a lovely place." Jennifer said as she searched for the start point of a conversation.
"Yeah! It is." Adrian said. " Why did you choose this place?" Jennifer took a sip of the cappuccino. It warmed her insides and made her feel relaxed. "It belonged to my mother. Before her death. Of course!" Adrian swallowed down the upcoming grief with coffee. What are you doing? Stupid!!! Why did you choose the place? Why are you telling her about this. Adrian mentally face- palmed himself.
