For a good few minutes or so, Jennifer struggled to make a step out of her bed, with it killing her to move her body even in the slightest. Jennifer never knew when Adrian would return, not that she was sure if he would return at all, he seems pretty worked up. Even after half an hour had passed, there was no sign of Adrian. So, Jennifer decided to take it upon herself to find something to relax her, to help her cope with the cramps.
Heavily sighing, she tried to drag herself out of bed, only to stumble down to the floor from how bad her cramps were actually getting. Jennifer winced in pain, pulling herself back up again to lean on the bedside frame for balance, preparing herself to make it downstairs. "It's killing me." She said as she gained balance but just as she was, she heard the front door being unlocked by the butler with her name being called from the bottom of the stairs, as Adrian made his way to the bedroom to find her. "Jennifer. Are you okay?" He saw her struggling to stand, coming over to help her back on the bed again.
His face softened when he saw a tear run down Jennifer's face. "Come here. Why are you crying?" He asked as Jennifer felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist. "My period cramps are worsening with how heavy they are." She only managed to say, without clenching her teeth from the agony she was feeling. "Don't worry, it's all right. I'll go get you some chocolate from the shop if you want." Jennifer hummed in reply, tucking herself back in bed sheets.
"I won't be long but do you need anything else?" "Maybe pads, I guess, Normal size." Jennifer murmured, letting her eyes relax. Adrian gave her a quick hug before hurrying out of the door, as she tried to stay laid in the same place until he got back. Jennifer reckoned Adrian wouldn't take much time, as within the space of ten minutes, he'd managed to come back with all the things she needed.
"I got you your favorite chocolates and pads. See if it's all right." Adrian simply smiled as he carried on to place the things from the bag next to her. "Oh wait, I forgot something." His eyes widened as he made his way down the stairs and back up again five minutes after, holding a warm water bottle in his hands. He sat beside her, placing it on the lower half of her stomach, as she held his hands tight in hers. "Thank you Adrian. I'm glad you're here to help me." She spoke, as Adrian bent down his head to press a kiss on her cheek. "No need to thank me." When Adrian pulled away from her face, he noticed an amused expression on Jennifer's face. She was laughing.
"What's funny about periods. A few minutes ago, you were literally writhing in pain." Jennifer let out another chuckle before she answered, "I was thinking something. Why does our every attempt of going out together end up with me in bed." Adrian was tempted to say "Because you look the best in my arms." But refrained himself, rather he said, "Maybe. We'll never know."
"How did you learn to take care of girls during their periods. As far as I know, you've never had a girlfriend. You don't even have a sister." Jennifer's list of questions was endless. Adrian smiled at how cute she was. Pretty little girl unknown to all the horrors of the world. Jennifer also had her ups and downs. Times when she was sad, broken and times when she was happy and full of life. But the face of the world Adrian had seen was far worse. Far more horrible. Far more scary. This world had made Adrian who he was today.
Jennifer's problems and troubles were at least a hundred times easier to what Adrian had faced. Snatched from the love of a family. Mother dead. Father, it was more like he had disowned him. His father's ultimate motive in life was to earn money and in that race, he had forgotten his family, his life , his loved ones. Everything. Crystal was just a gold-digger who was he'll bent on making his life miserable. Adrian knew the truth of every evil deed done by Crystal, she didn't care much to hide it from him. She knew his father won't believe him. She had him wrapped around her little finger. She was sure he would start dancing in a pink tutu if she told him to, let alone believe what his son said.
Apart from family, Adrian never met a real friend before James. He was the only friend he had. James tried to make him open up but Adrian had sought his refuge in him. He refused to socialize further. Adrian was so rich that money, vibrant parties, drinking with friends, such things held little importance in his life. He could buy the whole bar at the snap of his fingers. The only thing that was of importance to him was his mafia community that he had assembled, slowly and painfully. Carefully scrutinizing at each and every aspect of his people. Psychological and physical, both. Every person in his gang saw him with reverence in their eyes. He had saved them all from horrible things the world had done to them. His community cared for each other like a family, though by blood they were not related. Every person in their gang was a skill, a talent, the world had discarded thinking that it was of no use but Adrian had taken the time to carve the hidden diamonds.
Adrian glanced at his phone and was shocked to see the time. How did the time fly when he was next to Jennifer. "Ahh! Jennifer, do you mind if I go now. I have some important work to do." Jennifer agreed. Adrian stepped out of the house and sat in his black Porsche. He nodded to the driver and then typed a text to James saying that he was ready for the mission.
