Chapter 21 - Chapter 21- Go to school

Adrian looked at Jennifer. "So, now what are you going to do?" Adrian was seriously concerned. Jennifer had been crying a lot, she was ill. "Now, I am going to get up in the morning and go to school." Jennifer replied. This was the least expected answer for Adrian. "Damn! She is a strong girl." He thought. "Do you plan on telling your parents?"

"Of course! Well, not the full story obviously, but I'll tell them we broke up." "But they would want to know why it happened!" Adrian wanted to solve everything for Jennifer but it seemed like she had already planned everything. This is who she was! Kind, capable and mostly good.

"I'll just tell them, I'm not in a position to talk about that currently." "Wow! Seems like you have got everything planned out." James said while entering with a plate of food. Adrian helped Jennifer sit up, then he took the plate of food from James and tried to feed her, but Jennifer took the plate and started eating the food herself. Adrian and James watched her in silence. Jennifer finished her food and kept the plate on the bedside table. She yawned. "You need to sleep. We shall get going then." James said. Adrian expected that Jennifer would stop them, but to his surprise, Jennifer replied "Sure, good night." Reluctantly, Adrian left with James.

Jennifer's parents came shortly after. As decided previously, Jennifer told her parents that she broke up with Winston. Before any of them could react, Jennifer made this very clear that her break-up with Winston or her love life should be the last thing to be discussed under the roof of their house. However, when Jennifer's mother started panicking and insisting to tell her everything in detail, Jennifer simply said that she and Winston were not compatible anymore, so they decided to break up.

After that, she got up from the dining table where they were having their dinner and went inside her room. She locked her door. She dragged a chair and came to sit near the window. The night sky was on full display, beautiful and tranquil. The only sound that could be heard was of a nightingale, singing a song at a distance. Jennifer was listening to her melody and she couldn't notice when sleep took over her.

Next morning, the alarm clock rang as usual. Jennifer was sound asleep and didn't hear it. After about twenty minutes, Jennifer's mother entered the room and saw Jennifer was sleeping next to the window. She shook her awake. "Good morning Jennifer! Wake up. You are late for school. The alarm clock rang about twenty minutes ago. Jennifer stirred around in her seat. "Mom, five minutes please. I'll wake up." Jennifer said groggily. "Never thought I'd see the day when you sleep through your alarm." Her mom said. Jennifer usually woke up when her alarm rang. So this was really unusual. Jennifer's mother tried multiple times, but Jennifer didn't get up. Finally, she gave up.

Sometime later, Jennifer woke up. She looked up at the clock. "OH MY GOD! I'm going to be late for school." She shouted. Jennifer hurriedly took a bath and ran downstairs. "Mom, I'll skip breakfast today." She said while running to the door. " Wait! I already told the maid to pack your breakfast for you. Eat it in the bus." Jennifer's mother said while handing over a lunch box to her. Jennifer fake smiled. Her true smile was washed away by her tears yesterday, But for her parents, She decided to act strong.

"Jennifer, Are you sure you want to go to school today. I mean, after the breakup, You can make an exception for today." Jennifer's father spoke from behind. "No dad. I have decided to lead a normal life." Jennifer spoke. These words were only half true. Actually, she had decided to act like she led a normal life. "Bye mom. Bye dad. I'll be late now." Jennifer shouted as she ran all the way to the bus stop. To her dismay, the bus left.

"Now, how on earth am I going to reach school?" Jennifer let out of frustrated sigh. "I guess, I should go back home. I can't do anything now." Jennifer turned around to walk home when a voice interrupted her. "Aren't you going to school today?" It belonged to James. Jennifer turned around and said, " I missed my bus." "Hop on." James motion Jennifer to get into the car.

Jennifer decided that since her day was already going so bad, It can't go any worse. So a ride wouldn't hurt her. She opened the door and stepped inside but was greeted by her snores coming from a sleeping Adrian. The driver and James were in the front. "He's still sleeping?" Jennifer asked. To her, it was really awkward. She never slept in the bus. "Yes. He had a tough night." James replied. Jennifer contemplated whether she should wake him up but decided otherwise. "He's already had a tough night. I shouldn't disturb him." She thought. Jennifer admired his perfect face. His jaw is clenched, jawline sharp as knife, and his tongue poked out from his lips that was slightly parted. His head rolled from side to side with the motion of the car. Jennifer watched him while having her breakfast. It was an adorable sight. "He's so cute and sexy at the same time. Wow!" She thought to herself. Jennifer didn't even realize when they reached school.

She placed a hand at Adrian's shoulder lightly and shook him. "Hmm…" Adrian just hummed in sleep. "Adrian, wake up, we have reached school." James spoke from the seat next to the driver. Once again, Jennifer shook Adrian but this time the intensity was higher than last time. Adrian's eyes opened as a blurry image of Jennifer came into his view. At first, he thought he was dreaming. "Jennifer?" he said but when Jennifer replied "Yes?" his doubt vanished. He's sat up straight in a hurry. James knocked on their window and motioned them to come outside. Jennifer and Adrian obeyed.
