Chapter 1 - Chapter 1- A new flight

"Jennifer, take care of yourself. Have your meals on time, study properly and keep your time-table in mind. Make sure to keep your room organized and yes! Do not forget to call me from time to time. Give me an update whenever you are free". Jennifer mom had been going with these speech for the past half an hour now. "Mom I'll take care of myself. I promise don't be too worried about me. I will call you whenever I get free. I promise. Don't stress yourself out". Jennifer answered her mom for the ninth time now.

Jennifer was a kind and polite girl who had always respected her parents , teachers and elders. She was helpful and really good in studies. In a general sense, she was the perfect daughter anybody could ask for. At least, that was what her mother told her.

Today, was a very important day in her life. She was starting her high school today. Jennifer was a great academic achiever. So, she scored top marks and got admission in her dream school- DOWNWINGTON HIGH SCHOOL.

This was the best school one could ask for. Although, Jennifer was extremely rich, her family sent her to a normal school in a bus so that she knew how to be down to earth. Jennifer had no complaints from her parents. She knew they were helping her so she gladly abided by their rules.

Jennifer hurried out of her magnificent house after a hurried breakfast of waffles and maple syrup. She was wearing her favorite shirt-a white sleeveless one. This was given to her by her mother on her thirteen birthday. It was really special to her.

"Bye mom, Love you" Jennifer said as she left the house. "Bye baby. Mom loves you too!" This was all she could hear before she ran out of the house. Although, from the voices behind she still could make out that her mother was going on with her usual 'take care' speech.

After a walk of ten minutes , Jennifer emerged at the bus stop. She was waiting patiently for the bus. Just then, she felt a hand over her shoulder. Jennifer turned, out of pure instinct and her eyes widened at the sight in front of her.

Her best friend, Abby was standing there. Abby engulfed her into a bone crushing hug. "Jennifer! I missed you." Abby was squealing. "Aw! Abby I missed you too! How was your trip? You have to tell me all about it. Jennifer said delightedly. "Sure babe! You are going to your high school, right?" Abby said. "First day" Jennifer replied proudly. Jennifer and Abby were hugging each other and bouncing by the road happily as if they were little children.

"So which high school you are going in?" Jennifer asked her bestie, quietly praying that it was the same as her's. "DOWNWINGTON HIGH SCHOOL" Abby replied. Just as Abby said those words, Jennifer let out a delighted squeak "Wow! Same as me."

"Seriously! We are going to the same high school." Abby and Jennifer squeezed each other's hands feeling that the day was a hundred times better.

Soon, the bus arrived. They both hopped on happily and found two seats empty as though waiting for them to be sat on. Within fifteen minutes, Jennifer and Abby were outside their high school's main gate.

"So, ready to take over the world?" Abby asked signaling for a high-five. But, just as Jennifer was about to reply her eyes landed on a boy dressed in a white shirt and black pants. He was wearing derbies. The sight of that boy, left Jennifer speechless.

Seeing her best friend distracted, Abby followed her line of sight to see their childhood best friend, Winston. Winston was Jennifer's boyfriend and he grew up with Abby and Jennifer. Back when they studied in middle school, Winston was also Jennifer's neighbor. As they grew up together, Jennifer caught feelings for him and started dating him about one year ago.

Just then Abby, called out to Winston "Hey buddy". Winston looked up. Just as he spotted Abby and Jennifer, he was smiling ear to ear. "Hey Jeni Hey Abby" he called out while he came rushing and engulfed Jennifer in a hug. He packed her cheek and shook hands with Abby.

"So, you are going to Downwington high school?" Abby asked hopefully. "Yeah! And I know that Jennifer is also." Winston grinned.

Just then, they heard the bell and rushed for their classes. Abby and Jennifer had calculus while Winston had history, So they said their goodbye and parted ways. On the way to their calculus class, Jennifer and Abby overheard some girls talking.

"Hey…..Do you know that my white knight is also in this school?" One said. This girl was wearing a blue sando with shorts. " Yeah! Oh god, he us so handsome. I wish he would look at me. My love Adrian". The other girl replied. Her hair were tied in two pigtails and she had multiple piercings. Jennifer ignored and walked past them. She and Abby found seats in the front row and Jennifer took out her books and started paying attention to the class.

Soon, it was lunch time , Jennifer and Abby along with Winston headed to the cafeteria. Chatting, about their first day and eating their lunch. Suddenly, Jennifer noticed the growing crowd in the opposite end of the cafeteria. Some girls were crowding around two boys. One was wearing a leather jacket, with more clean, sophisticated pieces, wearing a crisp white shirt and black derbies. The other was wearing effortlessly cool jacket, this time lending itself to a more day ready outfit with a plain basic t-shirt, tastefully distressed jeans and a pair of black hi-cut derby boots.

Some girls touched them in flirtatious way while others tried to get their attention. Jennifer made a disgusted face and kept eating, unaware that a pair of eyes where noticing every move she made.
