Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Missing case

It's terrifying how a week can fly without even remembering what you had for lunch last Tuesday.

It has been a while since I came to this world and my training is going smoothly under Trudy's tutoring.

I've also been going around the Evanson city enjoying delicacies in a particular tea salon frequented by the local nobles following house Evanson.

Of course, I have been going in hiding without anyone knowing my identity thanks to my glamour spells!

See, I've been practicing on using my psychic witch abilities to trick people's minds into ignoring my presence.

With that I get the chance of enjoying a peaceful daily life without having to worry about public opinion.

Said the salon owner Madam "Giselle Montes". She's a viscountess, a widow who's pretty good at business, took the tittle after her husband died leaving her with young children and she started this business.

I asked about her children's wellbeing.

Giselle called for her daughter

And she replied, Juliette is a nice girl around my age.

Ah right, Did I mention I am using my Name "Tania" from earth as an alias whenever I go out.

The fact that people are calling me Tania again is kind of making me feel like I still haven't completely lost my life...that "Tania Spark" still exist and is doing her best to survive in this cruel multiverse despite her phenomenal bad luck...

Of course, Trudy also calls me Tania instead of "My Lady" after my request to drop decorum.

I invited Juliette to sit with us and she did

We spent good time chatting for a while all three of us when a group of ladies started speaking of an odd accident.

Said one of the girls to her friends

What are they talking about? Kidnaping perhaps?

answered one of her friends suggesting maybe the girl has eloped.

Her friend made a face and strongly opposed the idea

The hell??? What are the Evanson knights doing, for a young woman to go missing with no trace like this.

I wanted to ask more, perhaps I could do something to help, but Trudy's expression was screaming "Stay Low!!"

Juliette - as if she was the one with mental powers; said Juliette tightened a grip

I didn't need use my psychic abilities to know what Juliette is feeling right now; It showed all over her face.

I gave a look to Trudy who was still opposing the idea of meddling and then I said

Juliette looked gloomy for a moment and said in an almost unheard whisper

The three of us went silent for a moment, I didn't know what to do or even say.

Juliette's mother called from behind the counter

Juliette stood up and gave us a ghost of a smile

I said giving her a smile.

Juliette turned round and just before she was feets away I said

She smiled back at me and simply nodded before walking through the back door.

At that moment...If I knew the missing case wouldn't end only in one girl, I would have meddled in.

~Three days later~ I was studying Ancient Runes in my chamber before I heard unfortunate news.

I asked Trudy who brought shocking news.

I asked Trudy closing the heavy leathery book shut

Trudy went silent...

This was a question with an obvious answer; Trudy's silence only affirmed it.

I sprang up from my seat, pushing the chair with a noisy creaking. I ran a hand through my hair and rested it on my forehead.

Trudy remained quite making me even more enraged.

She said firmly Her eyes fixed on mine

Petty mortal lives - She called the lives of those girls petty.

I turned my back and stared blankly at the horizon

She took a step closer but stopped.

I looked back at her with the corner of gleaming ember eyes

Trudy bent down and left the room closing the door behind her.

I opened the window and tried to calm down, dragging in deep breaths.

I lowered my head on the ledge

I need to talk with Duke Evanson about this...If Trudy and the coven are so against letting me meddle in then let's make the knights work a little.
