Lea paced back and forth in circles. What was Valdemar doing to her that makes her so soft?
She could feel her face turn hot red when she pounced on the bed. Her Dad must be looking older than he really is by now.
And Lorn. How was he coping? Did he miss her? Because it is obvious that she misses him, with all the veins that's pumping out of her heart.
Suddenly, a knock was heard on the door of her room.
"Please, do come in"
Hearing her voice from behind the door, Marian entered the room just to see the beautiful Lea on her bed, head bowed and breathing like she ran for a few miles.
"Lea... " Marian called softly and Lea looked up at her.
"Marian. Oh, thank God you came" Lea said and walked upto her like a real, trained princess.
Lea could see the disturbance on the face of Marian and that yielded more worries for her.
"Is something wrong, Marian?"
Marian said nothing, but looked up at Lea.
"You said you have a message for me. Tell me and I will tell you what causes so much worries for me"
Lea frowned. Was that some kind of challenge? Or does she thinks that she can't tell her what her mother said if she didn't want to?
Lea gave in anyway and spoke out in a whispery voice:-
"Your mother said I should send her regards. It was like she knew that I was the next person to be taken. She said she knew she have been the type of aggressive mother that may have never listened to you before... She said she's sorry, and you should forgive her. She will forever have you in her heart" Lea kept the saying short and Marian said nothing.
She felt sympathy, but she didn't show it physically.
"I heard the second Princess telling one of our colleagues to get enhanced looks to get to the Prince. She really don't like you, Lea. You have to be careful"
Jen. Lea knew it was her without even being told.
"It's like you have found favour in the Prince's sight" Marian said and Lea said nothing.
She didn't want to find any favour in anyone's sight. She just wanted to know how her father is, what he is doing right now and whether he is fine with her being absent, because she knows him for that. Always sarcastic and never want to admit the fact that he misses her, but deep inside of him, he does. She always felt bad when he would ignore her after coming back from a long journey and just go into his room like she doesn't even exist. It hurts.
Lea said nothing in reply but her body started becoming hot at the saying of Marian. Find favour? Even if she didn't know the meaning of that, she still didn't want him to find favour in her.
But those were just thoughts. Thoughts that had a limit. Thoughts that were so dangerous to even think of. Thoughts that weren't the truth.
She needed a mum, so she could tell her all her problems and see if she can help her solve them. That's all she needs and all that's needed.
Marian patted her shoulder to tell her that she is still in the room, Incase she hadn't noticed.
"Thank you, Marian. I will see you by sunrise" Lea said and Marian nodded and bowed deeply and walked out of the room, leaving Lea as the only one standing and having a bad hunch in her heart.
Why did she feel anger when Marian told her that someone else was competing with her to win the heart of Valdemar? It was so unnatural.
She walked to the window of her room and stared out and sighed.
She felt the love she had always felt when she was with her father... She felt it now.
She looked down into the garden that she knew Valdemar was standing in and searched recklessly for him with her eyes. She didn't know why but she just wanted to see him.
When she caught him staring into the sky with those beautiful blue eyes of his, she sighed and couldn't help but continued staring at his eyes.
Those eyes.
They looked so familiar.
She still stared at it, trying to recollect where she have seen the eyes from but just couldn't come up with a clue.
But then, she accidentally came across his eyes and together they stared at each other. She felt her heart beat right out of her chest. She was nervous.
He still had that same expressionless kinda face that Lea regarded as stupid. She didn't know why but she enjoyed seeing him smirk and smile at her.
And like he heard her thoughts again, he slowly smiled at her and she couldn't help but return it gladly. She liked his smile.
His long black hair looked so admirable, even when the darkness surrounded him and... Well... Lea now knew that her weakness when it comes to him are his eyes, smile and hair.
I know, the hair part seems really weird but, I love seeing his hair, she thought.
Slowly, her hand slipped up on the rod that had the curtains hanged on it. She didn't want to lose control over herself and slip out through the window to fall and be with him, hoping that he caught her with those strong arms of his.
So Lea drew the curtains but Valdemar didn't miss seeing her cheeks turn pink.
He had a type of sharp eyes that seems to just be observing the last change of color on her cheek. And he liked it.
When he couldn't see her again, his eyes surveyed the rest of the windows on the row Lea just closed and he caught sight of the white haired lady staring down at him.
She wasn't prepared for marriage. She didn't want him.
She just wanted a happy life with her parents till they told her when the marriage time had come. But Jen was too strict and threatening.
When his eyes got caught in hers, she shook her head and closed the curtains. It meant something to Valdemar.
And he knew that only Jen was responsible for such thing, so he wasn't surprised.
He knew himself as a handsome young man that had a hard heart and time getting along with anyone.
But when it came to Lea.
He couldn't find a single hardness in relating with her, nor the other people close beside him.
