Chapter 13 - Chapter thirteen|My Didi

Conway PV

Gosh I  love this weather. What I call a perfect storm must be definitely brewing. Not that I'm complaining though.

I walk into the living room and my steps come to a halt. Jordan has his Lego pieces all over the place. He's listening to music on his headphones while he builds a car?

Dang! If Alroy were here to see this mess. He'd literally freak out. He has OCD so he hates untidiness.

As my eyes continue roaming around the room, they land on her. Her brows are knitted together in concentration as she carefully hands the bunny over to Sara-Deen. She handles it with care like it's some sort of a baby.

"Just don't touch her head and ears, she doesn't like that.", her small voice instructs Sara-Deen.

I see that my presence remains unnoticed and I take the time to take in her appearance. She has on, cream white overalls, paired with a white shirt underneath, with black and white Adidas slides.

Her curly hair is worn into two cute, bushy ponytails. It is parted in the middle and is wrapped up into two high afro ponytails. She's cute and she doesn't even know it.

'Cute! Really now?'

My subconscious questions. And that's all it takes to pull me out of my train of ridiculous thoughts.

"Uh...what are you doing here?" I say folding my arms to my chest.

Her head shoots up to my direction and her eyes widen a little. I watch her as she openly gawks at me. Her eyes shamelessly roam my body and I smirk in satisfaction.

"Ahem!", I clear my throat and that finally catches her attention, startling her even.

"Oh! Um...I...uh brought this back from the other day." She takes a plastic bag on floor and gives it to me.

I take the bag and see her awkwardly stand, shifting her weight from one foot to the other.

Does she have a pee or something?

I look inside the bag and see my hoodie.

Man I had forgotten about it!

I think back to when she took it, how in control she was. I look straight into her eyes searching for that Diako, the one I knew from when we were kids.

My Didi.

The tough Diako who would never cry or hide from people. She loved attention, lived like a mother fucking princess.

Now? She's just a shell of who she used to be. And I'm determined to find out what changed.

Well, just to feed my curiosity.

She fidgets under my gaze like she has more to say. I take the opportunity to make her more uncomfortable.

"Is there anything else I can help you with?", I ask with a bored tone, adjusting my glasses.

"Is Jules here? I'd like to talk to the both you.", she croaks out still fidgeting.

"No mom isn't here. What did you wanna talk about?", she scratches her forehead. She seems uncomfortable in front of the prying ears of Sarah-Deen.

I know my cousin. She may seem focused on the bunny but she's definitely eavesdropping. I gesture Diako to follow me.

We go up the stairs and head to my room. She slowly walks behind me with her eyes glued to the floor. I open the door to my room and step aside.

"Come in."

I frown when I catch a glimpse of my reflection on the mirror by the hallway.

Fuck I still have my glasses on. No one was supposed to know about it.

She tardily walks in and freezes just by the door. I wanna capture her face on my camera as she takes in my room. The look on her face is priceless.

It's odd that I even took her to my room. No girl's ever entered my room accept Kachi, and that's only because she's a rebel. Not even Sara-Deen has laid a foot in my room and she's family.

I lean on the Monarch desk by the door and fold my arms to properly watch her. Her eyes sparkle as they scan the room. They land on the view provided by the balcony French doors.

"Wow!", is all she says.

"So what did you wanna talk about?", I say totally ignoring her exclamation of awe.

"Your room is super dope...like crazy cool! Look at how amazing the view is from up here! I could always hang out in here" I don't know but I do want her to hang out in here.

"That's what you wanted to talk about?", I give her my infamous bored look making her uncomfortable again.

She squirms under my gaze and she looks down at her feet, avoiding eye contact. She clears her throat, looking everywhere in the room but my face.

"I just want to apologize for my behaviour last night. It was unacceptable and I'm sorry for ruining your meal.", she says in one breath and quickly turns to leave.

Thing is she may have ruined our meal but there's something shady going on with her and I'm gonna find it out.

She doesn't make it to the door as I grab and turn her around so that she faces me. Her gaze doesn't meet mine as a tear slides down her cheek.

What the fuck? What'd I do wrong? Maybe I held her too tight? Or is this about last night?

I loosen my grip on her arm as more tears roll down her cheeks. Fuck, this why I hate girls. Now I don't know what to say or do.

"Look Diako, I'm sorry for grabbing your arm. I didn't mean to hurt you."

I watch her shake her head as she wipes off her tears. She looks up at me and smiles. It doesn't reach her eyes though.

"No it's not that. I just...I'm sorry I should go.", with that she bolts out of the room.
