Blue Banners emblazoned with white lightning sigil flew high in the western city of Patali that day. Strings with bunting flags leapt roof to roof, swaying in the cool spring air. The city folks woke up early to cleanse and decorate their courtyards with rainbow colors of rangoli. Once their homes were all slick and shiny, they put on their best clothes and sandals to walk out into the streets and lined the sidewalks even before the sun had fully risen. They busily scrambled for the best view to Prince Indra's royal procession that was to be held later that day. And for many, the pinnacle of the festivities would be catching a glimpse of the Ashwamedh stallion galloping by later that day.
