Synopsis
Kaie Yami has been an assassin all her life. Merciless, cold, and slightly sadistic. During one of her missions, she suddenly died, and found herself laying in a soft comfortable bed. Kaie Yami had reincarnated as Lucille Feyrer, the lead in a popular novel. She was supposedly the nicest person anyone could come across...a complete opposite of Kaie. In the novel, Lucille was supposed to tolerate people being unfair and biased to her, as she was very naive. In the end, the male lead, the prince would save her and take her as his wife. Like a classic novel, the prince would come in the save the lady. However, Kaie had no intention of sitting tight and follow the novel. In the sequel of the series, the prince was actually quite corrupted and killed off Lucille later. Kaie is determined to change her fate and find the perfect man for herself.

Chapter 1 - Reincarnating

Kaie Yami stared up at nothingness. It was completely black and there wasn't a single light or person around her. She felt like she was floating around in nothingness.

She reached out a hand as far as she could. "I guess I'm dead...A fitting end for myself I suppose." Kaie closed her eyes, prepared for whatever to come next, but nothing happened.

She frowned. 'Shouldn't something happen in the afterlife? Or do I have to sit here forever in oblivion?' Kaie opened her eyes once more, but light blinded her.

A warmth was surrounding her, and she felt like she was sleeping on a bed. Kaie blinked a few times to adjust her eyes to the light and sat up quickly. 'What is this...?' She wasn't dreaming. She was literally on a bed, covered with fluffy pillows and a pink blanket.

The room she was in was fancy and filled with stuffed animals and jewelry. Kaie almost lost it at the sight of so much pink. She shuddered. 'I don't get how some people can stand bright colors!'

Someone knocked on the door to her room and walked in. "Lady Lucille, your bath is ready." It was a maid carrying a pink towel.

Kaie pointed at herself. "Lucille? Me? Am I still in the afterlife?"

The maid tilted her head and looked at her. "Lady Lucille? Are you feeling alright? Would you like to sleep some more?"

A laughter escaped Kaie's lips. "You must be joking. Enough with the teasing afterlife. I know that I read this book series during one of my missions, but you shouldn't play with me like this."

The maid had an anxious expression on her face. She dropped the towel she was holding and laid Kaie back onto the bed. "Lady Lucille. Please rest for a little longer. You may be hallucinating right now."

Kaie's smile slowly turned into a frown. 'Surely this isn't real? There's no way I'm in this book series that I read a little while ago.'

The maid hurried out of the room, leaving Kaie by herself. She got off the pink bed and headed to the small desk that was next to her. There was a small mirror on it. Looking into it, she could see someone with black hair and light blue eyes.

Kaie took a deep breath and calmed herself down. 'Okay, I need to think about what I remember about Lucille in the novel.'

Lucille Feyrer was a daughter of a duke. Her father was Duke Elgis Feyrer, also known as the king's right hand man. Lucille was often called the nicest person every existed. She forgave everything and was often very naive. People often took advantage of her because of that.

Naturally, Lucille married the son of the current king, Prince Altair Verlice. He started off treating her kindly, but his true intentions came to the light later. He accused Lucille in a staged poisoning and killed her so that he could be with another noble's daughter.

Kaie rummaged her brain for all the information she had. 'I think that should summarize the novel up...I better act like Lucille for now or they might notice something is wrong. However, all this pink is making me sick!'

She really wanted to throw up from all the bright colors that were around her. As an assassin, Kaie preferred the color black in any circumstance to not stand out. However, there wasn't a single black piece of clothing in this room.

A knock of her door sounded, and the maid walked in again, this time accompanied by a man. Kaie glanced at the maid from the top to bottom. 'If I'm correct, this is Lucille's personal maid, Colette.'

The man had a pair of spectacles on his nose and his light brown hair sparkled as he bowed. "Pleasure to be in your presence, Lady Lucille."

Kaie decided to test her acting skills. She gave him a tight, fake smile and said, "No worries. What would you like for me to do?"

Colette moved over to Kaie. "Lady Lucille, I asked Doctor Salas to come because you were saying things on the bed."

Kaie gave Colette a smile, too. "Thank you for your concern, Colette. I merely had a bad dream, it's alright now." She gave her a small pat on the head.

Doctor Salas bowed once more. "If you say so, Lady Lucille. I shall be taking my leave now." He left the room quickly, leaving Colette and Kaie alone in the room.

Picking up the towel she dropped earlier, Colette held a hand to the door. "Lady Lucille, shall I take you to your bath now?"

Kaie stood up, no longer lost in her thoughts. She gave Colette another smile. "Of course."

She exited her room to see a fancy white hallway, layered with a clean carpet. 'It really is different to imagine it and to see it come to life for real...' Kaie walked down the hallway as Colette led her to a room. You could smell a slight sweetness floating in from it.

Kaie realllyyy wanted to vomit now. The sweet smell was clogging up her nose, and making her head a bit foggy. She asked Colette, "Would you mind changing the bath scent?"

Colette's eyes widened. "Lady Lucille, do you not like this bath scent anymore? It was your favorite when you were younger, but if milady's tastes have changed, I'll change it at once."

The maid ran into the room, steam leaking through. It was a large room, with a lake-like bath. There were floating flowers and some bubbles. The sweet smell slowly faded away, with only a lingering scent left. Kaie took off the dress she was in, and slipped into the water.

Colette ran to her and grabbed her arm. "Milady! Be careful, you might slip!"

Kaie sighed as she gently pulled Colette's arm off. 'It's so tiring being nice, I have to keep watching my actions!' She gave her nod. "Thank you for your concern, Colette. You may leave now, I can get out the bath myself."

The maid bowed and headed out of the room, finally leaving Kaie all to herself.
