I awoke to the smell of bacon and eggs. Glancing over at my clock I had to suppress a groan. 6:45 in the morning. Really? I sigh heavily and drag myself out of bed going straight to the bathroom, knowing there is no way I'm going to go back to sleep now. Catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror I huff. I really don't look good in the morning. My hair is all frizzy,my eyes are droopy and red. A single knock raps on my door. "My lady? Are you awake yet?" My maids are here. Somehow they always appear when I need them or when I'm out of bed. it's kind of freaky. "Yes. I'm awake you can come in. I'm in the bathroom." I hear the click of a door knob and light footsteps. Soon my maids round the corner as I suppress a yawn.
"Shall I draw you a bath my lady?" Marie asks. I nod tiredly. "I don't understand how you guys are always up before me. Do you guys sleep at all? Or are you vampires who need no sleep?" Amber giggles. "We sleep my lady we are accustomed to waking up early. And no we are not vampires. How could we be if we can walk in the sunlight?" I shrug. "It could still be true. Depending on what legends you read some vampires can walk in the daylight." Lily smiles warmly. "Touçhe my lady." While I'm in the bath Amber, Marie and Lily prepare my outfit for the day. The dress is a soft powder blue with a tasteful plunging neckline that shows just a bit of my chest. It reaches to the floor covering my feet completely,hugging my hips and arms. The sleeves have extra fabric at the top of the hands that has a loop to go over my middle finger. Amber brings me a pair of pale pink heels that are about two or three inches tall. While she helps me with the intricate straps on the shoes Lily wraps a long rope belt around my waist a pink that matches the shoes. Marie helps me pick out jewelry to match. We end up going with a darker blue gem for the necklace and earrings,to pop against the pale colors.
My hair is quickly swept back into an elegant,simple half up-do and nude make up is placed on my eyes,cheeks,and lips. This all takes about an hour or so. "You look beautiful your highness." I smile warmly at Lily. "Thank you. I suppose I will go to visit with my mother for lemonade and see if my father is available today." My three maids bow and open the door for me shutting it behind themselves following me down the hall. I knock softly on my mother's door. "Come in." I enter and nod my head at my maids signaling they can leave. "Hello mother." I say shutting the door softly. "Hello dear. You look wonderful. I was worried it wouldn't fit." "It's beautiful mother." I walk to her the dress swishing around my legs,the soft fabric a gentle caress. I sit and watch my mother intently. She is staring out her window looking down at the courtyard watching as a couple of servant boys pick on a servant girl. "Boys are all the same being rude to the girl they like." She says with a small smile. "I wouldn't know mother. All the boys seemed to avoid me." I say teasingly. Her smile fades. "Mother are you all right?" She seems to startle from whatever trance she is in. "Yes dear there is just a lot on my mind. Let's call for some lemonade and cakes." I nod and we sit eating and drinking happily. We talk for over an hour.
"Oh dear. Forgive me darling but I must go meet with someone now. I enjoyed this very much." I stand with her and smile. "Yes I did as well." I go to leave when she speaks again. "Come and meet me in the lounge in a few hours there is something that your father and I wish to speak to you about. " Her face is set in it's usual kind warm time but there is an undertone of worry. "Ok. Is everything all right?" She just nods. And when she makes no sign of saying something else I leave,wondering just what my parents need to speak to me about. I turn a corner on my way to see my father and run into three certain princes. I walk up to them easily. "Hey guys. Why are you all hanging in the hall like creepers? Is there a maid in the castle who has taken your fancy?" I say devilishly.
They all look a bit shocked at my accusation. "Wouldn't you like to know? Even if we did I wouldn't tell you. Don't you remember what happened the last time I told you that?" Max says. I giggle remembering. "Hey it's not my fault that she turned out to be a complete bore. Your the one who liked her I just pushed it along." Max crosses his arms defiantly. "You pushed her into an ice bucket." Ian is barely suppressing a laugh and a small smile raises and Dex's lips. So small you would have to be close to see it. "Hey she was boring and clumsy. But that's the past. So come on." "No way." I groan. "Ugh fine. Be that way it's not like your exactly a ladies man." Now Ian doesn't hold his laugh back at all and I smirk triumphantly. I had planned on going to see my father but instead ended up with the princes. By the time I had looked at a clock hours had passed. "As much as I am enjoying this I'm afraid I have to leave my parents want to speak with me."
Max grins. "Get into some trouble your highness?" I roll my eyes. "You wish." I say and leave. I meet my parents in the lounge as myother had told me to but we aren't the only ones there. There is a man talking with my father. A handsome man. Not much older then me. Maybe the same age. Dark brown hair almost black,soft gray eyes,full lips,a strong set jaw and a great build from what I can tell beneath his clothes. Which are much different then our kingdoms. More regal and formal. And less colorful. "Hello." My parents and the man look at me. My mother and father smile and the man just strares at me. "My beautiful girl allow me to introduce Jace. Future king of our neighboring country Plaidin." My father says. Sunddenly a knot forms in my stomach. I have a sinking feeling about this meeting.
