They all have done as I asked. They left me alone. Well my parents haven't. Everyday one of them comes to my room and stands outside my door but never enter. Like today it's the Queen. "Darling I know you arent going to answer me,but you are still my daughter. This marriage is for the good of the kingdom it's what's best for our people. I know you grew up on a world were you get to choose who you marry, but this world is different. We don't get to choose and most of the time we don't feel anything for eachother even after years together. But your father and I got lucky. Of course we despised eachother at first because we each had someone else in our hearts and we blamed the other for not being able to be with them. Over time however the more time we were forced to spend together the more we grew on eachother. Eventually we didn't have to be forced together and couldn't wait to be with eachother. That could happen for you and Jace. At least try to give him a chance." And then she's gone. The same old speech everyday but worded differently.
The only real contact I have with anyone are the servants of the palace. They are much easier to talk to than any royal. They don't come with titles or ulterior motives, they are just them. They are living in the real world and that's a nice break form all of the balls and arranged marriages my life has become. Like right now I'm in the kitchen baking a suflee with the chef. And then my day gets worse. "You know Arthur it really isn't that bad here. Honestly if I can convince the princess to marry me then we won't have to worry about working ever again. They have three times as many servants as we do in Plaidin." I can't keep my mouth shut. "So a marriage to me basically means to you that all of your responsibility would be thrown out the window? That you would have others do it for you?" The prince and Arthur stop and stare at me. Then he smirks. "Of course. What's the use in having servants of you don't make them work? They are there to serve you." I glare at him."They are still people. They still love and breathe. They aren't machines who can continuously work and you not expect them to get tired and hurt!" I exclaim. The prince just rolls his eyes. "But your royalty you were born above them. Your constant need to protect people lower then you is very annoying." He says matter of factly.
"And your continued arrogance and complete disregard for how others feel is so egotistical. You call yourself a prince but all I see is a very big ego with two legs who can't stand to do a day of work or to care for his people. That's what your supposed to do not use them just because you have a crown." My words don't seem to phase him. "But my crown is what makes me so desirable. I have a title,a castle, money, and looks. Are you telling me that none of that interests you? That you haven't fallen for me?'He says annoyingly confident. "No." His face falters at my word. "As if I could ever fall for someone like you. Someone that is so self conceited that it's sad he doesn't see just how much of a jerk he really is. Being called a prince is just a title and that can be taken away just like your castle and money. And without that I'm sure you would become helpless and not know how to survive a day in the real world because you have servants do it for you. Maybe you should try living on your own because the world doesn't revolve around you." "How dare you speak to him like that!"
Arthur bellows. "I shall speak to him how I want. You are in my kingdom on my land. Which you could be banished from any minute. And you aren't any better then your prince. You are a major womanizer. Don't think I havent noticed how you seduce the maids in this castle and discard them when you are bored. Then you go to a brothel and use those women. Honestly that habit disgusts me more. At least in the princes case he is just a prince, but you are a knight and should know better. With the way you guys are portraying your kingdom why would I ever want to marry into that? You hold no honor." I say and push past them hard the look of total disbelief written plainly on their faces. "Oh and Arthur? If I ever catch you messing with my maids again I will have the thing you cherish most taken from you." Then I leave letting the big wooden door shut them from my sight.
