"Before we start. Tell me what you know about Genshi fire element", Ray started his 'class'.
"From what I know fire is a really difficult element to control aside from other basic elements", Adam sit on the floor.
"Right. But do you know why it's harder to control?"
"Err... Isn't it because fire is dangerous and can burn basically everything", he said with doubt.
"That's only half correct because in the end it depends on individual control over the flame. If you think about fire, first thing you'll think is it's hot right? The key point of using fire is by raising the temperature. Since the total destruction will increase too", explain Ray as he wrote down on the black board that came out of nowhere. Adam nods. He write it down.
"I'll teach you how to raise your fire temperature. Then I'll teach you a technique", he just smiled when he sees Adam writing notes. Adam couldn't finish his studies since his father died. He managed to stay in school for 2 years only. He mostly does self studies in free times.
"Do you know that fire is seperated into 2 categories?", Adam shakes his head.
"This is a normal fire", he said as he used a fire ball on his right hand. Then a blue flame on his left. Adam look at the beautiful blue flame.
"When the temperature rise to a certain degree it turns blue. It's called Tyndall Effect. It's just because of the sunlight refractive through the flame", he put down the flame.
"The second flame is a zero gravity fire in a shape of a ball. But we can't used this type"
"I have a question", Adam said as he raised his hand.
"What's gravity?"
"Gravity is earth magnetic field. We can stand because there's gravity", Ray just smiled. That made him thinking about Adam situations a bit.
"Before we're gonna start. Wear this", he hands over a bracelet. Adam puts on his right wrist.
"It's for recording the temperature. Just try raising your flame temperature slowly. Use a small flame"
"Try reaching 100°C"
The number on the bracelet raised slowly. After 5 minutes he reached the temperature.
"Not bad. Other usually took time to do it. You made it look easy", he was like a rough diamond, hiding under the thick layers of earth.
Adam just grinned. His teacher rarely compliment him, it kinda makes him felt less confident.
"Since that was too easy, if you can reach a thousand degree celcius, I'll give you a reward. Just stop if you can't, okay?"
"Really? I'll try then"
"Yeah. If you did it called me out", he went to Vyrut, he was focused on the target. From the way he pulled the bow string, he know he's still uncomfortable holding the bow.
"V. What are you doing?", the sudden voice from Ray made his arrow missed the target. He gave him a sideway stare.
"What?", Vyrut said as his hand reach another arrow.
"Why are you Practicing archery? You used rapier right?", he knows that his older brother is an archery master. He must have been teaching him.
"So? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be teaching him right now?", He let go the arrow. It manage to hit the blue part of the target.
"I gave him a homework. I told him to try reaching a thousand degree celcius", he said with his arm crossed.
"What?! Are you out of your mind?! What if he got hurt. Even others couldn't reach that high", if he made a mistake, he could get a terrible burn.
"Wait. Calm down. I just told him to try and stop if he couldn't do it", he rarely sees him this worried.
"What are you standing there for then! Go!", he said exasperatedly. He should be watching him right now. Although the training hall has fire resistant system and sturdy against second class Genshi, someone can still get hurt.
They run under the roofed passage that's a hundred meter away from the hall.
"Adam. Are you okay?!", said Vyrut. Ray just arrived from behind. V ran so fast like he's in the olimpic event except for the bow in his hand.
"Eh? Err... I'm fine", he said with a clueless face. Why did brother came? And he's running too.
"What's the temperature right now?", ask Ray. Looks like his fire is still just like before he left.
"It's 500° Celsius", he take a look at the number.
"500?!", said both of them. It hasn't been that long when he left him. They glanced toward each other.
"Are you feeling dizzy or tired?", ask Ray. It's a sign that means overused genshi. Better to stop if you felt any of these signs.
"I'm fine. Why?", did he missed something?
"Nothing. That's good. Do you think you can keep it up?"
"I think so"
"No. You should stop. What if you got hurt?", said Vyrut.
"V. You worried to much. Even if something did happen, you have your water genshi. We can both take immediate action if something goes wrong. Besides I wanna see how far he can go", explain Ray. He is excited to see if he can get the temperature.
"Sigh... Stop if you can't"
Ray nods to Adam. He held out both his hand. The flame is between his palm as he slowly raise the temperature. From 500 to 600 ° celsius.

He started to feel tired when the temperature hit 950° celsius. Adam will not stop halfway. With only a tiny amount of gemshi left, he slowly let it flow through. At 990° celsius his head throbs, it feels like there's a needle goes through it.

"You can stop now", said Ray. Looks like he need to keep his promise.
He fall flat on the floor. Vyrut give a bottle of cold water. Adam drinks until only a quarter left. He's glad it went well. Vyrut stride to Ray with a murderous look.
"Do this again and you will not see tomorrows light", his ruby eyes that glitter with a hint of killing intent scares Ray.
"I will. I'm sorry...", he put up both his hand. It is his fault as well. If only Adam could attend the academy, he would be in the Noble: Level Zero, a special class for talented students. He would love to offer his family scholarship. The empire values talented people more than those worthless status.
'Haha... That hurts', never thought he will see V glaring at him like that. Honestly, his heart couldn't take it.

"You should take a rest. We can continue this afternoon", he look worried. Why is he feeling a bit jealous? Maybe because his attention is always for him. Back when they used to train together a lot, he always bring first aid kit and ice to treat his burn.
He shouldn't be feeling like this. Isn't he his new little brother. Maybe they adopted him recently. It's nothing new since his family always adopted a lot of talented people into their families. Including Adam it's the seventh time.
"You should head back and get some rest. I'll be back after an hour"
"Okay...", both if them look at his back as he walks away.
After changing, he went to take some sleep.
