Chapter 22 - Glance of his (22)

Ayesha Point of View

The past few days, I have been occupied with school and studying. It also happened that I didn't have a class in graduate school so I didn't have trouble with how to inform Vener that I still had a presentation to take care of.

We decided to leave early so as not to be overtaken by traffic especially this weekend because it's a long trip. We thought that few vehicles will go over because we left early but there were still many travellers as if no typhoon had happened unlike on weekdays. Often more go home to the provinces than on weekdays. When we got out of the border, the road we were treading became familiar to me. This is the way home to us, as well.

I darted my gaze again at Vener who was driving. Many queries bothered me but I chose to just keep silent and observe the scene along the way. I will never tire of watching the scenery over again as if losing the questions that bother me.

It is beautiful to watch the trees grow and flourish. A science teacher like me, educate every learner about the probable impact of not caring for mother nature. It was similar to love, if you don't do your role to improve and take care of it, it will be ruined and ruined. Even, as with friendship, you don't want to be a reason to miss what started and seems to be like a coffee that is not satisfied with the customer's taste.

I sighed. I didn't even understand my comparison. Whatever.

My gaze drifted back to where Ron was sitting. She sleeps soundly while on my part, I don't know how to take a nap in this situation. I was yawning constantly but that didn't mean I was drowsy.

"This is also the way to your hometown, isn't it?" Vener asked as he broke the silence and I answer him with a nod. "Our hometown is neighbours."

I noticed it.

"You may sleep. I can see the dimness of your eyes," he said worriedly. He opened the stereo and played music. I didn't nap and I manage to stay awake the whole ride.

We got to their house before lunch. Their house is located on a relatively high part where foggy mountains can be seen that fits with the structure of the house and it was a combined traditional and modern rest house.

"Welcome to my home," Vener smiled widely. Ron shrieked as she went near the fence and stretched her hands.

"I miss this kind of atmosphere Ayesha," she said while doing a puppy eyes. I laughed at her gesture as if she was not born in the province.

"Nice view," I remarked. "Your place was quite different from ours."

Vener genuinely smiled and I can't help but smile back. "Let's go inside."

He leads the way and we followed him after.

An elegant but simple interior design opened up to us. You wouldn't think it was so vast inside the house if you looked outside. Many hung on the wall. But what grabs my attention is the photo of the whole family which is a bit old-fashioned, sorts of photos back then way back 1960's or 1970's if I'm not mistaken. I roamed my eyesight inside and I can't help myself to comment in amazement.

"If possible, this is the design of the house I want to build in the future," I murmured.

"Then, prepared a lot of money, girl. It's not easy to build a house, nowadays," Ron replied. I was about to say something when Vener was telling something that I didn't hear. I looked at him asking what but he just shrugged.

Instead, he let us a seat on a couch and called a helper. "Where's mom?"

"Ma'am Beatrice is in the garden getting something to add to the dish. She's now coming after hearing that you've likely arrived," the helper answered politely and went back to the kitchen. She came back with snacks with her

After several minutes, a lady who introduced herself as Vener's mom came along with a girl I estimated we were about the same age. Ron and I introduced ourselves, as well. The name of his mom is Venice and the girl's name is Gia. His mom gave the basket to the helper and instruct her what to do with it.

If you look closely at his mom, you can see from whom he inherited his good-looking features and beautiful smile. She was more beautiful in person than to those pictures hanging on the wall or in a photo frame.

"When did you get home, Gia?" Vener asked the girl beside his mom. His tone of voice likely depicts that he was not happy to see her, a rare expression from him knowing that he's nice to all. I gazed back to Gia. She is pretty and elegant. She has the aura that you can perceive that she came from an elite background.

"Yeah. The other day!" she replied. She still says a lot that I don't bother to listen to. The tone of the answer is normal but I find it sounds childish that I can't understand. She even acts like a spoiled brat. The way he looks at Vener, it's very viscous. Maybe it's nice to pull his eye out. I find it annoying and she's getting into my nerves. Is this what they call hate at first sight? The moment you laid your eyes on someone, the blood runs to the veins boiled all of a sudden.

"Your heart, sister. Don't plot in your mind how you will pull out his eyes and you are also close to skinning him alive. Don't worry the feeling is mutual but I didn't think that way," Ron said in a low voice enough for me to hear since we are sitting next to each other. I shove her slowly. Gia looked at me from head to toe and grinned.

"Madam and sir, food is ready, " the same helper interrupted and she went to the dining table. Aunt Venice leads the way to the dining.

We seat on our preferred chair and sad to say that across to where I was seated is Gia, the childish girl. Gia continued her litany while eating and I can figure out that their family is business partners.

I tried my best not to listen to what she's saying and just eat since the food is very nutritious but I can't help myself not to feel insecure and that I don't have the right to feel this way. She knows a lot about Vener's family and who was Vener as a man. I don't know what happens that I feel this way. I've encountered a lot of childish annoying person but what I felt now is somewhat different. I can not explain verbally.

"By the way, Ayesha and Ron, I'm happy that you visit our place. Sad to say that my husband had a business trip, he won't see our son's friend. I was shocked when my son said that a friend of his will visit. I just find it rare," Aunt Venice said enthusiastically emphasizing the word friend and then she looked at me intently. The way she stares at me in the middle of the meal, I felt a bit conscious of myself. "Now I know the reason, Ayesha."

I frowned at her statement and that made me confused about what she's trying to say.
