Ayesha Point of View
I woke up because of the sunlight hitting the window.
I got up from bed and went near the window. I look around. The surrounding are clear and it seems like there's no trace of the typhoon. I was thankful that after the heavy rain, it doesn't bring any casualties to the area. The pleasant scent of moist earth refreshes the surrounding area after it rains and it seems to want to invite me to take a deep thought. When the sun rays strike on the water droplets on flowers and foliage, glisten, adding to the natural beauty.
When it rains, the dark rainy clouds dissipate, revealing a bright and clear sky. This also implies that the rain of issues will fall in our lives as well. But once it's over and stopped, our lives become brighter and clearer.
I reached my phone on the study table to see what time is it. There's one hour left to go and I'll be late if I won't hurry up to prepare myself.
"You may now eat," Ron offered and we both ate our breakfast after I took a bath.
As soon as we finished eating and preparing to go to our work, we rushed into the shed. It's a good thing that as soon as we arrived at the station, there was a ride and we're ready to go. Ron and I separated one block away from the school I'm teaching.
I was relieved that I was not late. I can't afford to see my performance rating below.
I didn't attend my classes because we are informed that all faculty staff has a meeting regarding the upcoming events in school so I just gave a seat work to my classes. We are in the middle of the meeting when I was call in nature. I made excuse and went straight to the restroom. As soon as I was done and headed back to the conference room, I hear a familiar voice. I'm not planned to hear the conversation but I suddenly got curious about it. Vener's expression looks dark and serious and it's my first time seeing him in this kind of tone.
"No mom. You know, I can't just change my decision. I can manage the two. I know what grandma wants and I'm willing to take it over. Can't you see that I do not have a problem? The coffee shop was in a good state. I can't quit teaching just because you said so," Vener said firmly over the phone. There's a response from the other line but I can barely hear it.
"It's my final decision. Let's personally, not in call mom. I may now end this call mom, I just stepped outside. I'm in the middle of the meeting," he said and put back the phone in his right pocket. He walked and went inside as if nothing had happened.
I followed him after not making any unnecessary moves that made him notice that I heard a conversation with his mom over the phone. I got on to my usual seat.
I took a look at Vener. He's seated next to Sir Jeffy. He looks calm and I didn't expect that kind of load in his shoulder. They want him to quit but he's determined not to because he wants to teach. He has a good future and everything. He has no reason to stay in this kind of work and just focus on their business but he chose to stay. Another side that I envy him. No one can stop him because he knows what he wants.
"Yes Ms Sandoval, anything that you can suggest," our school principal asked, Mr Del Gado. I blinked twice why he's calling my attention. All eyes were on me waiting for me to speak. "You're raising your hand, Ms Sandoval. Any opinions or suggestions on what are the contest were going to organized."
I calmed myself silently and speculate an answer. What a stupid thing I did and got into this? The next thing I know was I'm not raising my hand. "For the contest, I think that it's quite good to hear some suggestions or opinions from SPG officers and other students what they want to since this upcoming event was organized for them. We can let them proposed and it's up to every club advisers to approve that proposal. Let's also allow the students do gimmicks in their respective booths."
I didn't mind if what Mr Del Gado will say. But to my surprised, he agreed to what I said and I'm relieved and others give also suggestions right after before the next agenda. I pay more attention not causing any more trouble on my part. The next thing I know, the meeting was finished as early as expected and we're heading back to the cafeteria to eat lunch.
"It was a brilliant idea that you said those during our meeting. I didn't know that you have that side of yours given that our principal has an attitude like that," Marga, one of the teachers, stated in a low voice minding if someone can hear what she said.
"Yeah. You see, we are dismissed as early as usual," Danice added, one of the teachers as well.
I looked at them and smiled. I do not suppose to say those. It was supposed to be the last thing I can do but I did the other way around rather than humiliating myself for being mentally occupied. What if someone asked why? I can't stand myself saying it's because of someone else.
Vener looked at me but I looked down and sip on my drinks. I blushed.
"Why are you so red? Are you okay?" Marga asked when she notices my face.
"No, I'm okay!" I said but it's a lie because it seems that I invaded someone else's privacy. I was supposed not to eavesdrop on others conversations. Why is it my fault that I even heard their phone talk with his mom?
The rest of the hours came to be shorter than usual. I didn't make a single moment for Vener to talk to me so as soon my class ended, I went straight home. I do household chores and Ron was not yet around. I cooked food for dinner and eat. As soon as I finished, Ron was exactly arrived and offered her to eat. I decided to went to the rooftop and my surprise, Vener was there.
Why do things appear when you don't want to catch a glimpse of them?
