I returned to Charlotte academy as a new person (or was it with an extra person?). Casper, with his longer hair and skin so white it looked like he was dyed in milk, walked with me as we walked in. We went through the enrollment process and Casper officially became a student.
Our life there was mostly uneventful ful save for my training sessions with Casper and Annabelle which usually ends up with one or more of us getting so bloodied that we would need to be carried out.
In short, it was fun.
We went on like this for quite some time, training me to use my abilities as Casper had said that the seal the doctor put on me sealed him in me along with my abilities. We continued training until the day Casper got his first mission.
I had quite expected it but it still came as a surprise when he said he would have to pick a team to go with on his new assignment.
"I know I don't need to ask you, but will you come with me on my mission?" he asked me.
"Why ask when you know the answer already?" I countered.
"Of course we're coming with." Annabelle said as she stood up. She charged at me but luckily, I saw through her early enough to dodge and come up with a punch which she blocked. Casper, seeing us turn towards him with a grin, immediately warped space around himself, going invisible as we went for the second round of training that day.
The next day, we had gotten ready and left. We had barely gone out from the school when we were attacked. Casper immediately warped space around us all, making it appear as if we had disappeared. It helped us evade some unnecessary battles but it wasn't to last long. We were found out by an Irregular whom we were to discover could warp space as well.
He had focused his gaze on us all, I and Casper especially. I saw that and asked Casper "What do we do? It seems he has caught onto us."
"We keep moving" Casper said "Act oblivious to them. We'll lure them away."
We kept walking, not betraying the fact we knew we've been noticed while we went on but I soon felt something move around me and in a moment, seven people were on us, attacking from all sides and angles.
I called Casper and asked "Do we go?"
"Stop asking when you already know the answer." came the reply as I focused. My vision turned red as Casper's turned green and we charged.
It was something of a child's play for us who took on the main force but the Trickster guy closed his eyes. I noticed he was trying to call for backup and made to impede him but the other guys did a good job of keeping me busy while he called.
While his backup came, he turned to us and, pointing at Casper, he said to his companions "Leave that one to me. I'll handle him." which they obeyed without question. This gave me the impression that he was a powerful one but I was to be shocked.
He chanted in the same language as Luke and co but strangely, I couldn't understand what he said. Casper laughed and chanted in the same language as he sprouted wings and took to the sky. At that point, I realized it was Casper translating it in my head. I suddenly missed having him inside as I hated feeling left out of discussions.
They were in the sky, exchanging blows with each other while I struggled with the ones facing me. "You think you can win against us when the strongest among you struggles with a Trickster?" one of them taunted which took me off guard "Trickster?" I asked.
"Yes" they answered, laughing "Even though he's our commander, he's still a Trickster, just that he has a unique ability." "Which is?" "Oh, you'll find out soon enough." they said and got back to thrashing me.
Casper was above, fighting the other guy when, suddenly, he lost his wings and fell with such a force he made a crater. He warped space around himself in a bid to shake him off but it was cancelled immediately after he casted the spell. He then fired an attack at the guy but his attack was cancelled right after it fired. The guy laughed and said "There's no attack born of magic that can affect me. I was born to counter magic in it's entirety." "So you're an Opposer, a being that doesn't have a specific affinity but counters the magic of your opponent. But, in the end, you're only a Trickster." Casper said as he warped himself in space which was obviously countered but he immediately followed up with a left cross which could not be avoided. "I thought as much. While countering a spell, you cannot do anything else." Casper said as he dealt another punch which was blocked.
At this, they entered the second round of their fight, this time on land. I faced the ones against me, feeling angry and frustrated since I could barely fight toe to toe against them. I closed my eyes, feeling myself falling until I landed somewhere dark but strangely familiar. I groped through that place until I placed my hands on a lever. I pulled it and a bright light filled the room and suddenly, I opened my eyes in the real world. My vision was clear, strangely so but they all cowered at my sight.
I sped past them, surprising myself as much as I surprised everyone there except Casper, who smiled knowingly and said "Shall we do this, little man?" "Don't ask when you know the answer already." I said and his pupils, which were green, turned white as the white part of his eyes turned green.
I couldn't tell if it was due to the power I exuded, but I could tell it was a similar power he was releasing while we both moved faster than anyone else. We took out the mob in less than a minute but the Trickster was following our every move.
"I don't think you're our usual Trickster." I said.
"No I'm not." he said just as I launched a fireball at him but, out of nowhere, a ball of water with the exact power quenched the fire.
"Wow!" I exclaimed "Let's see how long you can last." I said. I wasn't really sure of it but I could tell he couldn't do it forever so I released a wave of flames. Casper had previously moved Annabelle and friends to another dimension such that while they could see what was going on, they weren't affected by it.
He laughed and just like with the fireball, a tidal wave appeared and was dealing with the flames when suddenly, the tide receded and the flames washed over him.
