For the first time, I saw my own mind scape (or was that Casper's?). It was a cool, dark place with the only light emanating from my body. I decided to search the place for anything but with the darkness, I could barely find anything. "Where am I?" I asked myself as I looked around. All of a sudden, a light shone at me.
I moved towards the light which seemed to be so infinitely close, yet infinitely far. I walked for what seemed to be an eternity before I got to the light. As soon as I touched it, I woke up in the physical world.
Talia and Natalie were tending to me as I seemed to have been out for a while. I looked and said "The second time in less than a month. How long was I out?" Nat looked at me and said "Three days."
"Thanks." I said as I sat up. I still felt dizzy, seemingly because I just got up. I went to freshen up when I ran into Ivy and asked where mom was so we could go see the doctor. "About that, I just got off the phone with her." My mom said as she embraced me tightly "How are you doing?" She asked and I replied "Better."
"She'll be coming within the hour". Mom said as we went to the living room, waiting the arrival of the one who may have an idea as to how to separate us. After what felt like an eternity but in reality was about 20 minutes, the doorbell rang and a voice came through the intercom "Hey Jenny, it's Liz. Would you mind letting me in?" Mom immediately got up to let the person in. After exchanging pleasantries with her friend, she looked at everybody until her gaze fixed on me.
"Haven't seen you since you ran away from home." she said and I looked her straight in the eye "I'll go straight to the point." I said "What did you do to me?" "I don't understand."she replied and I said "Let me put it this way. What did you do to us?" "Us? I still don't understand you." she said and I pulled off my shirt there, pointing to a marking on my chest "This is what I'm asking about" I said.
I had previously thought the marking to be a birthmark until the first time I ceded over to Casper. At that point, what I thought was a birthmark glowed a bright purple shade and inflicted me with such a burning pain that I almost passed out. I showed her the mark and, though she was able to mask it, for a moment she was shocked at that mark so I asked her again "Madam, what did you do to us at birth?"
She still denied knowing anything about it. I then stepped towards her and said "Even if it wasn't you, I'm very sure that you know something about this so I'll ask one last time." As I spoke, I shared with Casper such that my voice came out as a reverberation of two different voices "What did you know about this mark?" At that, she sighed and said "I hoped this day would never come. The day you'll show your abilities." "They're not mine. This power belongs to him and you'll tell us how to separate from one another." At that, she said "The seal on your chest works by sealing everything in you; powers amongst others. I thought you were just unstable as a baby so I used the seal to fuse what I thought was your powers in you. The only backlash was that you couldn't use the abilities unless the seal was undone. We just have to undo the seal and you'll be able to separate yourselves. For that, we'll need to go to my clinic. I don't have my things." She said as she stood up to leave.
I followed her to her clinic, where she took me into a private ward, closing the door behind her. I noticed that as she closed the door, I couldn't sense anything happening outside which I asked her about and she replied "This room is private and sealed from the outside. I do all my Irregular-related work in here so people don't know." As she prepped me for the procedure, Delphine appeared inside the ward.
"Who are you?" Liz asked. "Someone who's here to make sure this procedure is a success. Just behave like I wasn't here." she said as she leaned on the wall, watching us.
As the doctor began, I heard her speak in the same language as Luke and friends. She chanted for a while and then said "Now, we begin the unsealing for the one who's spirit was chained by the mistake of a careless one" as she made some marks on her hand which glowed brightly. She placed the hand on my chest, triggering a pain so sharp I passed out for a moment. When I came to, Delphine was retrieving a dagger from my chest, the marking faded completely and I heaved a sigh of relief.
"It's over, isn't it?" I asked but the reply came "No. The real struggle begins now." Suddenly, I felt a choking pain as I drifted into unconsciousness.
When I opened my eyes, I saw someone that looked exactly like me, only with pale white skin and greenish eyes. He looked at me, smiling and said "I guess it's time we said goodbye." "To living in this place, yes. See you when I wake up, brother" I said as he faded away.
When I regained consciousness, I saw the person I had seen in my dreamscape sitting beside my mom, eyes looking like they had seen everything. He looked at me and said in a jovial tone 'Good to have you back, lil bro." "Yeah. It's good to be back." I said as we thanked the doctor for her troubles as I got up and, with my brother, left the clinic.
