May 28th,
The wind was gone. The scent of maple and cinnamon was gone. The golden glow was gone. It was just a bright sun with plain green leaves on trees. Nothing about it was special anymore. The sheds were gone too.
We were both running out of time.
Holding each other's hands, Emily and I both walked through the woods until we found the endless road. On the other side of the road were fields of grass and a familiar looking car off in the distance.
I felt Emily's grip on my hand tighten a little. Probably from the sight of the car.
"Are you ready?" I asked her.
"Ready as I'll ever be." She nodded.
After many deep breaths, we crossed the road and headed towards the car in the fields.
The tall grasses immediately acted just like last time and large strands of them stretched out towards Emily. Emily didn't flinch though. She looked like she was ready, but I still couldn't help but feel uneasy.
But I couldn't do anything. Not until Emily does her part.
The strands of grass finally reached Emily and mercilessly yanked her away into the car. Both doors shut and locked themselves like last time and the silhouette of a man in white clothes came into view. I ran over to the car at full speed, waiting for Emily to say the words.
Emily didn't say anything. She sat their, a face filled with terror. She quickly covered her face and remained still.
It took every bit of self-control I had in me to keep myself from bashing at the window again. I wanted to help, but I can't intervene like last time. Emily has to be the one to decide whether she wants help or not.
She had to decide whether she wants to go home or not.
The Man in White grabbed Emily by the neck with one hand and pulled out a knife with the other, pointing it close to Emily's eye. I bit by lip as hard as I could and scratched at my arms to keep myself from smashing that damned window.
Come on Emily! You can do it! Remember what we did back in the woods! Please... You have to try... EMILY!!!
~Why do I have to hide behind my hands? Why can't I just get over it already and scream for help? Why do I have to be so afraid of this man. Come on, just scream for help already and get it over with!
The Man in White held his knife close to my eye as his grip on my neck tightened. He was trying to choke me to death.
I want to go home. I want to leave this place with Alex and this Cole person that he loves. I want a family who loves and cares about me, not one that keeps me locked away for their own disgusting reasons.
I want all of this, and yet...I...
"EMILY!!!!!"
...Alex?
No, I can't give up. If Alex sees me die, then he'll lose himself again. I can't let that happen. Alex is my new dad, so I have to make him proud. I won't lose to this man! I won't lose to my sorry excuse for a father or my ruined mother.
I'm going to get through this! I'm not going to just sit here and die for nothing! You want me to just lay down quietly as you have your way with me? Well, too bad!
I grabbed the man's knife and yanked it out of his hand. I cut myself from grabbing onto the blade, but I didn't care. I was too mad to notice.
This man. This man in front of me made me look like a fool. A hopeless, pathetic fool. I'm so frustrated right now that I could scream!
"HEY," I shouted at him as I revealed my face again. "FUCK YOU!!!"
I stabbed him in the eye with the knife. He let out a bloodcurdling scream as he tried to reach out and grab me. I pulled the knife out of his eye socket and kicked him away.
"HELP ME ALEX," I screamed as I turned around to Alex. "I CAN'T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!!!"
The car doors suddenly opened back up and I quickly dashed out of the car towards Alex. Alex already had a large rock in his hands, ready to strike.~
~The Man in White stumbled out of the car. He covered his right eye with his hand as blood dripped down onto the grass. I charged at him with the rock in my hands and bashed him to the ground.
I got a few good strikes at his head with the rock, but he suddenly kicked me away. I stumbled backwards, but felt no pain. I quickly got myself back up, but the man's hands grabbed my by the neck and lifted me high into the air.
I lost my grip with the rock, so I was completely defenseless. However I wasn't worried.
I smiled a cocky smile.
"You're so fucked." I said to him.
The man tilted his head, but the blade of a knife suddenly went straight through the man's neck and was pulled back out quickly. The man let go of me and stumbled around for a while, trying to stop the bleeding with his hands.
He fell to his knees and I took that opportunity to grab the rock and bash his skull open. With a disgusting *CRACK*, the man fell to the ground dead.
A few moments later, his body turned into the familiar black ashes and were blown away with the wind.
And with that, it was over.
I dropped the rock and ran to Emily, my arms wrapping around her tightly. She welcomed my hug with open arms and a warm smile.
"You did it Emily!" I whispered to her through my joyful tears.
"I couldn't have done it without you!" Emily said through her joyful tears.
"I'm so proud of you! Next time, let's do the same thing to you father, but without the killing since that's illegal even to him unfortunately."
"There's no need," Emily said. "A life sentence in jail is good enough for me. Besides, you'll be my new father from now on anyways."
I felt my smile grow bigger from that last sentence. I never thought that I would be happy to be a father, but this girl deserved much better than the life she was given. I hope that I'll be able to give her all the good things that life has to offer.
Suddenly, a golden glow engulfed Emily. Her body started to turn into golden ashes that were being blown away into the wind. I panicked at first, but then my smile came back when I saw the color.
"What about you?" Emily asked, her hands caressing my cheeks.
"Don't worry," I said, holding those warm, bloodstained hands. "I've got a daughter waiting for me in the real world, so I won't go dying out there."
All Emily could do was smile. She kept her smile all the way until she was completely gone. I let myself fall to my knees and bawled my eyes out until morning. It was my turn now.
I took a few deep breaths and...
"Alright," I said, wiping away my tears. "Here we go."
Headed straight for the endless road.
