Chapter 12 - Fire Magus

Meanwhile in a military outpost where the Jo'ku geniuses were gathered. Piles of Jo'ku corpses were strewn everywhere across the ground. A large scale massacre has just happened here.

A human man was floating way above the military outpost, his hands and spear drenched in the blood of the young Jo'ku.

Similar scenes were taking place at every outpost where younger generation Jo'ku were gathered. Needless to say, the coalition has decided to break the pact with the Jo'ku nation.

This was because they had a trumpcard waiting to be used. Once they provoked an all out war, they would take the chance to kill as many Jo'ku enemy forces as possible.

After receiving the news about their young geniuses, the Jo'ku were furious, immediately deciding to start an all out war on this habitable planet.

The Human Coalition didn't stop their spaceships from landing on the planet, instead, all human forces were ordered to gather at the main outpost as soon as possible, even at the cost of abandoning their missions.

Acheron and his team naturally received the announcement on their communication devices, still in the middle of battle.

Both Anna and Acheron were now covered in the blood of their enemies, with Anna even having a few injuries. Acheron though, was completely unscathed.

This was because, unexpectedly, after they finished taking care of the late Earthly Shackles Jo'ku warriors, a peak Earthly Shackles enemy appeared, meaning he had the equivalent of Revolving Core cultivation.

Thankfully, even if Acheron was still pretending to be a Foundation Establishment cultivator, he was still able to fend off the powerful Jo'ku, keeping Anna relatively safe.

After all, his Qi density was different from normal. To the point where he could fight Revolving Core warriors even while being in Foundation Establishment.

The peak Earthly Shackles Jo'ku obviously had some deep hatred against humans, considering he was willing to disobey orders and attack them. Too bad he picked the wrong group to mess with.

As the Jo'ku was secretly charging up a powerful attack, he was suddenly interrupted by a vicious kick to his groin, leaving him in pain so great it caused him to interrupt his attack. Acheron naturally noticed the energy fluctuations of the incoming attack through his increased perception.

Seeing the Jo'ku like this, Acheron sneered a little before smashing his sword directly on top of the enemy's head.

Blood and brain matter splattered everywhere. He died instantly.

Anna naturally noticed the cultivation of the Jo'ku. Needless to say, she was shocked at Acheron's combat prowess.

After Hol and Gara finished off the fleeing enemies, they regrouped with Anna and Acheron, both having pale faces. It was obvious they've just finished emptying their stomachs. Despite this, neither Acheron nor Anna disdained them for this. This was a normal reaction for most people.

They decided to return back to the outpost they came from, where they could take hoverbikes and travel towards the main outpost.

A few hours later, they were met with the grand sight of a very orderly large army. Many Heavenly Ascension cultivators gathering in the sky, along with a mysterious figure wearing black robes and a hood.

The figure scanned the new arrivals and his gaze happened to stop on Acheron for a few good seconds.

'I seem to have discovered a buried treasure. Master will be overjoyed if I manage to rope him in.' thought the figure, slightly excited.

Many kilometers away, the army composed of battle hardened veterans and young students watched as hundreds of Jo'ku spaceships descended on the planet.

The human army simply waited as the enemy armies gathered together, readying themselves for a relentless assault and a bloody battlefield filled with carnage.

While the soldiers were a bit nervous, the Heavenly Ascension cultivators seemed to be calm, maybe even slightly excited.

As the seemingly endless Jo'ku army marched towards them, the figure in black robes gets into position, and begins channeling a strange attack. It was a method Acheron has never seen before. It was strangely mesmerizing to him, as if a new door to more power was being opened in front of him.

As he was thinking, Acheron suddenly receives a mental transmission from the floating black robed figure.

'Watch carefully, this is the supreme power of magic. This is the power of I, Fire Magus.'

Once the enemy army has gotten close enough, Fire Magus whispers to himself.

"Grand Fire Nova."

A giant sun-like sphere of fire condenses in front of Fire Magus's outstretched palms. It was so gigantic that it seemed to dwarf the entire human army. As the various Jo'ku warriors are filled with terror, Fire Magus launches his spell directly in the middle of the Jo'ku.

An insane explosion shakes the heaven and earth. Great carnage is unleashed as hundreds of thousands of Jo'ku lives are snuffed out seemingly instantly. The closer to the sphere of fire, the faster the death.

Needless to say, those on the outer perimeter were facing the most gruesome end, burning alive.

Not sparing a glance to the dying Jo'ku army, Fire Magus travels past them, quickly reaching the space above the various spaceships. Hundreds of similar spheres, just smaller this time, are launched towards the Jo'ku spaceships. He clearly didn't intend to spare anything from his onslaught.

Just like that, the Human Coalition dealt insane damage to the Jo'ku nation without having to lift a finger. Their losses reached a point where even Planetary Subduing warriors might be forced to join the battlefield.

After the Fire Magus returned, he asked the general present if he could have a private talk with the human teenager that caught his attention, Acheron.

While Acheron was wondering what the mysterious figure wanted with him, he listens patiently.

"You have great mental strength and unnatural willpower. This is perfect for becoming a Magus, just like me. Join our organization on Minocus Planet. Our planet is hidden from the radars of the coalition, only visible to the naked eye. These are the coordinates. Whether you agree or not, think about it carefully." said Fire Magus. After that, he flew off towards his personal spaceship without bothering to hear what Acheron had to say.

The coalition already had a plan after this massacre. The entire army decisively scattered. Boarding the spaceships they came with, the students get ready to return. The coalition will send more workers to gather the resources abundant on this planet.

There was no more war on this planet. It suffices to say, that the students' experiential training was over in one day, as clearly, the Human Coalition had other plans.

Once they boarded the military spaceships, Anna offered Acheron her contact details, which he accepted without much of a reaction. After that, they split up and went into their separate rooms.

While the battles he fought didn't teach him much, he still managed to reap some benefits this time. Just the talk with Fire Magus was more than enough for him.

Acheron calmly sits on his bed and enters deep meditation. He remembered how awed he was by the power Fire Magus displayed. If he gained that kind of power, he would be able to travel the universe unhindered.

Magic seemed to be very different from the strength gained from cultivation. He felt it was more similar to the system magical beasts used. After all, they all had a so-called magic core.

Since he's studied magical beasts, Acheron was aware that they'd gain magic abilities once they broke through to the Heavenly Ascension realm. The only problem was that these magical abilities were limited by the beast's affinity with the elements. He figured it may or may not be different compared to when humans try to learn magic.

Was Fire Magus specialized in fire magic, or was he limited by his magic core. Anyways, Acheron would be able to find out soon enough.

All he had to do was wait for the holidays. Then using his Crimson Dragon points, he'd obtain his own personal spaceship. He would have plenty of time to learn and train as a magus once he reaches Minocus.

Acheron was confident in his learning capabilities, even when faced with magic.

After remembering something, he calls out in his mind: 'System.'

"Host name: Acheron"

"Race: Human"

"Genetic Locks Broken: One"

"Life Force Gathered: 12%"

'It seems I'll have to kill many more lifeforms before I can break the second genetic lock.' thought Acheron.
