Chapter 7 - MAKE A CHOICE

To our surprise, my father as well as my uncle George explained to us that our destinations had already been preselected. We only had a choice between France, Mexico and Quebec (its three destinations being those already chosen by the boys). Olivia and I protested on the spot saying that it was not fair while the others just agreed without saying anything but for Olivia and I it was insane.

At first, their refusal to our request was categorical but following our pertinent and annoying insistence, they finally gave in. Olivia and I were given the opportunity to choose our own destination.

Having noticed that the answer to our request was positive, the others decided to protest in turn but it was already too late, their tickets had already been paid. Gabriella had chosen to fly to Mexico where Camillo was already residing to continue modeling, Anne and Angel left for Quebec to continue their studies in law and also because their older brother Trevor was already living there.

The day of departure having arrived, we accompanied them to the airport Olivia and I, we watched them go away on their various flights, telling us that we might not dream of them for the next 5 or 10 years.

Olivia and I spent a week looking for the country that would suit both of us best and have our different branches of study; we ended up choosing the USA more precisely the city of "Atlanta" in the state of Georgia not only because of our tastes and preferences but also because according to the photos that we had seen it was a magnificent city. . Aunt Valeria disagreed with that choice, she said we had to choose a city where someone you trusted could meet us at the airport and help us find an apartment quickly. We spent three days thinking about it, and Mom remembered having a friend: "Cassandra Calloway," whom she had met in Boston on a business trip and who had recently moved to Atlanta with her family. Mom gave her a quick call and she gladly agreed to receive us at her home until we found a place to stay. Once that was resolved, we enrolled at the University of Atlanta online and received our fees a few hours later. We were finally ready to leave home and say yes to life and freedom.

The day before our departure, we packed our suitcases and spent the evening with the parents at home. The next morning we left for the airport eager to explore Atlanta and start a new life. We dressed like real Americans. Well I have to admit that I was always dressed weirdly as usual but Olivia was super pretty.
