Chapter 24 - A Portal To Monster's Nest, Mission To Save Wendy

This was nearly impossible!  But this was true, what Daniel saw was Sam, a classmate who had been present and disappeared by changing human memory.  A few days ago Sam had disappeared in a very mysterious way, he had also erased the memories of humans about him, except for Daniel of course.

Sam, who disappeared, seemed to be able to eradicate Daniel's spirit immediately because at that time Daniel was so alone and collapsed without any instructions to carry out the proper sweeping.  Sam did suggest doing a sweep in Rakeen Forest, and he said he would give Daniel coordinates.  But to the point of extinction, Daniel didn't get a single clue.

The boy with transparent eyes also suddenly disappeared, or at least he stopped to visit.  Daniel tried to think positively that maybe he didn't need to get healing fluids anymore.  But amidst all this uncontrollable condition, he couldn't suppress his frustrated thoughts.

"You….  come?"  Daniel was unable to say any more, he just froze as he watched Sam, who was already smiling thinly in front of him.

Sam was still the same, a tiny child who always looked frail with thick glasses framing his eyes.  His clothes were always geeky, peasant plaid shirts tucked into his loose trousers.  This time Sam also still looked the same, except for the clothes, he was wearing a black suit or maybe a little greenish.  There was a mysterious aura on his body, which seemed bright but also transparent.  Sam looked new, he was a new creature who had just felt the earth's atmosphere.

"I said I'll give you the coordinates.  And this, it's all on the map.  If you follow these points you will find your cousin."  Sam froze, his expression a little strange and at the same time more familiar.

"Wait, but you will come with me, right?  I couldn't possibly go there alone."  Daniel did not know what was going through his mind.  Usually, he was so brave to go to many dangerous places to scout the monsters.  But now that his courage was starting to recede a bit, maybe the problem was because the current mission was to save Wendy's life.  It's a matter of life and death for a person, and Daniel was sure he wouldn't be able to fight the fake Mr. Parkin alone.

He needed a weapon! Exactly!  His eyes spontaneously widened in search of something that could be used as a bat.

Sam said, "I might follow you, but maybe not.  I will preview the situation first.  I literally shouldn't interfere here, because our missions are different.  But since I have a task that needs to be done immediately, I don't mind stepping in."

Daniel frowned and narrowed his eyes, but he didn't say anything.

"If you look for weapons, I see there is an iron in the warehouse.  Maybe that thing will be of use to you."  Then Sam disappeared, without a trace as if swallowed by the wind or camouflaged in the air.

Daniel was no longer surprised by what he had just seen.  He chose to immediately go to the warehouse to find an iron that Sam was referring to.  It took a few tiring minutes because in the warehouse all the goods looked crowded and mountainous.  Moreover, many items had been placed in a cardboard box to make it tidier and also not take up space.

About twenty minutes later Daniel found a useful iron.  The iron was a half-broken crowbar.  Daniel frowned, scanning the crowbar.  He wondered how the crowbar broke because it basically didn't rust and looked still strong.

Ignoring these insignificant thoughts, Daniel went up to his room to provide himself with various necessities.  One of them was a flashlight.  Who knew if he would need to comb in a dark place later, or comb until it gets dark?  Then Daniel reached for his cell phone as the last resort.

Squeezing all the equipment into his backpack, Daniel sped toward the garage to get his bike.  But unfortunately, his bikes, including Wendy's, were chained up so that he couldn't use them.  Daniel moaned!  This must be Uncle Ted's doing so he couldn't go anywhere.

Then Daniel looked for away.  After thinking then he remembered something.  There was an old scooter that had not been used for long.  The only reason the scooter was in the warehouse was that Daniel and Wendy preferred to ride a bicycle over a scooter.  Finally, it found its destiny.

Standing out with a scooter that he managed to find from the warehouse, Daniel immediately sped off to head to the Rakeen Forest.  He had changed his clothes to a darker one, somewhat in tune with the trees and banyan leaves there.  This might be a good form of disguise.  Monsters were strong, but they could still be tricked if you could hide them properly.

It didn't take long for Daniel to reach the edge of the forest.  He stopped behind a large tree while hiding if only someone else saw him.  His hands unzipped the bag and began to see the coordinates given by Sam on the map.

Damn, this was not just a map of ordinary people because each point was marked in great detail with images that changed like a modern GPS.  There was a red dot on the map drawn on the old parchment, and he believed that the red dot was him.

Ink dots appeared that pop up on the map, directing it towards a single point.  From there Daniel decided to walk and left his old scooter hidden behind a large tree.

Daniel walked a little nervously along with the dots.  In the end, he was directed to a wall in Mr. Parkin's house.  The wall was on the south side, with a small gap that humans would not be able to pass through.  That gap he had found a few days ago.

Daniel thought twice, but after seeing the arrows keep moving toward the gap he tried his luck.  Slowly Daniel stepped off.  It would look ridiculous if someone saw him, and found him still walking towards the wall and banging his head on it.

But it's for Wendy's safe.

Daniel swallowed saliva hard, took as much breath as he could.  Now the gap was getting closer to him, only a few centimeters.  His brain continued to reject, but on the other hand, he believed in Sam.

Daniel's face was about to hit the gap, with a head that might go dizzy if he hit the wall, still moving.  But nothing happened view of the gap in the old, mossy wall suddenly passed, replaced by thin darkness that quickly passed.  Now Daniel's feet were flat on unfamiliar ground, which was covered with stones with a strong smell of sulfur.

Daniel covered his nose with his long-sleeved shirt, blaming himself for not thinking smart to bring a mask.  Maybe Daniel would pass out before he could save Wendy if he continued to be exposed to sulfur gas for a long time.

Daniel must hurry.  His feet walked quite nimbly on the rough, protruding rocky ground.  As he looked down to jump over a fairly high steep rock, Daniel saw a squirrel suddenly run from behind him.

The squirrel looked normal, without holographic shadows on its body.  That meant it was real.  It's likely that he accidentally walked into this portal, like Daniel.

As the squirrel shot up so fast it wasn't long before a scream could be heard, accompanied by several roaring roared amid that gloomy and smoky world.
