Chapter 11 - The Destroyers of The World of Sotah

A tsunami hit Lake Musi, that was what people thought, even though all of the sudden tidal waves were caused by the appearance of a water monster who was now soaring up to a height of more than twenty meters.

Daniel could see that half of the monster's body was still submerged in the lake, while the rest of its body, from head to stomach, was now raging and crashing into the water causing another wave.

Daniel chose to escape from the grip of Serry's hand which was currently dragging him to go to higher ground. Everyone, both schoolchildren and residents, were screaming and running around indefinitely. Some bumped into Daniel, causing him to almost lose his balance to stand up.

"Dan, what are you doing? We have to hurry before the water rises." Serry insisted. Her slightly dark skin now began to turn pale, as pale as her eyes that had started when he saw the striking impact of the water on Musi Lake.

"You go first. I'll come down to check. This was not a tsunami because if this was a tsunami there would have been successive earthquakes that would come first. After all, if this is a tsunami then the waves will go up and crash at one time. But behold, the water is breaking into a place with irregular formations." Daniel tried to put his logic amid all this chaos. One thing he wanted to accomplish now was to stop people from panicking and then screaming because it seemed that the water monster didn't like screaming.

Serry didn't seem to have paid much attention to Daniel's explanations. She was still dragging Daniel, at least in a direction that freed them from the collision of those who were trying to save themselves.

"It's no use giving speeches about earthquake science and lessons, Dan."

Daniel winced because he had never heard of earthquake lessons and science.

"The most important thing is now we have to hurry. The water in the lake was not normal. Even if it's not a tsunami, we still have to stay out of the way until the experts come down and check. So come on! " Serry pulled Daniel's arm back, panting heavily. Now the two of them had started on the incline towards higher ground. From the plain, Daniel could still see the appearance of the water monster.

His head was like a melted human, with thin, pale slimy flesh. There were only a few strands of hair on his bald head, a skull showing at several points where the flesh had been gnawed on by something. The large paws reminded Daniel of the legs of a giant spider. And the monster's stomach reminded Daniel of the starvation conditions of the people in a country. The monster had a tail, which looked like the tail of a dying eel.

Flames gushed from the monster's mouth amidst its rage that was now howling a roar. His paws tried to grab the villagers who were still far from his reach. In the middle of the whirlpool, the monster seemed to be strengthening his strength even more as if it was growing and trying to revive itself.

Daniel still limping amidst the pull of Serry's hand which led him to follow the hurried footsteps of the residents. In the end there, he saw a crowd of people who were running and racing to get to the top of the plain.

As traces of human lived in the lower settlements began to disappear, as the residents began to climb to the top of the plains, Daniel's eyes caught several people who were seen riding diesel boats to approach the water monsters that were still rampaging and triggering high waves in the middle of the lake.

He saw at least five people arriving, with faces that he could not see clearly from a distance. All of them wore various clothes with dark colors and almost blended with the turquoise water of the lake, which was slightly turbid. The men simultaneously attacked the monster, throwing the rope so that the two of them could reach the water monster's head.

Then in one long blow, the monster groaned along with the thick green blood that had been splashing in all directions. The monster's massive body fell, creating the highest of all the waves.

Just then Daniel shook Serry's shoulder. "Sorry, look at the lake! Look who's fighting! "

Serry stopped her weak steps that were already filled with fatigue. She turned her head and frowned at finding nothing. Only one thing she could find was water that had begun to calm down and did not explode again. "Oh, the tsunamis have stopped? Thank God!"

"No! No! It is not that. I meant was people were fighting in the middle of the lake earlier. " Daniel forgot about the fact that he still has to keep his mouth shut about the things he's seen so far, or else he would get the nickname "crazy" again. However, Daniel's appearance was at a loss for his wits and was also at the end of his patience when he encountered the brief battle he had seen just now.

"Is it true? Anyone fighting on the lake? Surely it is our savior angel, right? Come on, sit down! I am tired!" Serry had slumped and fell on the rocky ground. Before she sat down and placed her buttocks, she removed the annoying rocks and gravel.

Looking at the lake, Daniel again froze and at the same time was confused because the five people who had attacked and defeated the monsters had now disappeared. Even though he was looking from a distance, and maybe his eyes were not very careful, but Daniel was sure that five humans had been driving a diesel boat to approach the monster and incapacitate him.

Now everything was gone, without the slightest trace, just like the water monster that had drowned and left nothing but the white scales of its tail which were now seen floating above the water. But in one wave the scales have sunk and disappeared.

Finally, for the first time in his life, Daniel had been seen the destroyers of the world of Sotah in action and carrying out their duties. The destroyers who would later become allies for Daniel to save civilized humans in the future, just like the alliance in the past, some fifty hundred years ago when Algeros was still his be a hero.

Soon, the teams were researching and dealing with the uncontrollable changes in the physical condition, and also the waters of Lake Musi arrived. They were the ranks of researchers who often made valuable contributions to the survival of the biota and natural conditions of Lake Musi itself. The researchers were often referred to as the Musi Lake Team for the residents.

"Oh, they finally came!" One of the residents stood up enthusiastically. His eyes were full of hope, in contrast to Daniel's deep thoughts.

Daniel now was sitting with Serry and also Wendy.

Sometime after the waves calmed down, residents began looking for separated family members, and/or their acquaintances. Serry took the initiative to find Wendy, and she found her at the end of the line in the last row, close to the cliff. Wendy was alone with a shaken body and slightly sleepy eyes.

"Thank goodness if they have come. That means we can quickly go home," hoped Serry, cupping her hands in earnest as he thought about where her family was to look for an emergency shelter.

Wendy, who was fully aware, now bit her lip. "But I'm still worried if a further tsunami comes. Moreover, Daniel and I were alone at home because Uncle Ted was out of town and who knows when he will come back. "

"Isn't there Mrs. Nana who will look after you?" asked Serry, ignoring Daniel, who now had a wry face beside her.

Wendy's voice suddenly became very weak, as if she had just lost her favorite chocolate pie dinner menu. "Mrs. Nana was picked up by her daughter after the tsunami had subsided to be taken to another safer city. I don't know when he will come back. "

"Huh, that means you'll only be alone at home, in these very dangerous conditions?" yelled Serry.

Daniel suddenly became very gloomy in secret. Even though he didn't give any response, he always listened throughout Wendy and Serry's conversation.

'So Mrs. Nana won't be home tonight?' thought Daniel anxiously, because somehow he felt something bad would happen to them tonight if the adults didn't look after them.
