Chapter 5 - Dungeons and Dungeon Accessories

Hey sorry for not updating to the few that are following, work and school kind of picked up out of nowhere. I'll try to update when I can

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Waking up next to the smoldering firepit, I groggily look around my cave. "Open missions tab," I say as I grab the last of the fruits to eat for breakfast. Looking out over the vast landscape but everything is in black and white. Confused for a second, 'Oh, so this is what natural night vision looks like,' I think.

[Mission/s]

Timer: 18 hours 30 minutes 04 seconds

'So the workouts can change, but why planks' I think as I get up to stretch and begin the workout. The sun hasn't risen yet, and judging by the timer. It's five in the morning. 'Of all the habits from the Marine Corps that I picked up, the early to rise is the one I hate.' I think as I wrap my tail around my waist.

After completing all but the run, I climb down and forage for the same supplies and leaves. I set the leaves to soak and decide to practice more ki techniques until the sun rises.

I sit down on one of the larger rocks decide to try to create a blade using ki. I picture a mental image of a short sword in front of me, and will my ki fill the image. The drain trying to fill the image is immense, so I change it to a large knife, then a small one. In the end the I could only make it the size of a scalpel.

[User has trained using Ki to create a technique]

[10 Exp distributed to User & pertinent abilities]

[New technique learned]

-Ki Blade Class F lvl 1 0/5 exp-

The User projects Ki into the shape of a blade. Ki cost: 30 or more; the more Ki added, the greater the blade.

The glow purple blade was the length of my hand, the bottom of palm to the tip of my fingers and as thick of my pinky, Sighing, 'I can't see this tool being worth the price of nearly half my ki pool,' I think disappointedly. In the end, I decided to run some tests to see how useful this thing is. I pull up my missions tab and use the timer to measure the time it lasts. Then, I started carving up the rock I was sitting on.

The scalpel cut easily into the rock, cutting cleanly and smoothly. After two minutes of cutting, the blade showed no wear and tear. Closing the menu some boxes pop up

[Ki Blade has leveled up]

[15 exp distributed to User]

[Ki Blade has leveled up]

[15 exp distributed to User]

~Ki Blade Class F lvl 3 15/20 exp~

The User projects Ki into the shape of a blade. Ki cost: 28 or more; the more Ki added, the greater the blade.

"Ok, it'll be useful but first, it needs to be trained up before I ever use it in combat… The system doesn't give me notices when it's open... interesting," I say and looking at the decent amount of food I have and the confidence I've gained in my abilities, I decided to check out the dungeon tab.

"Open dungeon tab," I say.

[Dungeon/s]

Current Level: 0

If I nearly die to a single Grimm, how am I going to complete a level full of them, 'Ok, so other than it hurting, there is no punishment for trying these dungeons, and I could use this to farm exp,' I think. "I'll go with the Ancient Dungeon, at the very least, I should run into some new abilities, and I don't think I'm strong enough to take on mages," I say.

[Generating Ancient Dungeon]

The cave around me fades away, and blue lines start to appear, drawing an image of a ruined Aztec-like city in a jungle. As if rendering in the lines slowly fills in with color and texture. The trees and ground turn brown, then green foliage sprouted from the ground, and the green climbs up the trees as vines until it creates the canopy above me. Next, the sky turned a blue as rays of light began to shine through the trees. Lastly, the jungle is filled with sounds of insects, birds, and falling water.

Stunned by what I saw, I think, 'Ok, that was cool.' Suddenly a rucksack falls in from of me.

[Dungeon Successfully Generated]

{Dungeon Mission: Search & Exploration}

In the ancient city whose name is lost to time lies secrets only it knows and will only share them with those brave enough to seek them.

0/10 Artifacts Found

Fail Conditions: Rucksack is damaged or destroyed, HP reaching 0

Punishment: Barred from Dungeon for 2x recharge time

NOTICE: To officially collect an artifact, simply put said item into the rucksack

"Well, call me Nathan Drake cause I'm going treasure hunting," I say as I pick up the rucksack and head toward the city.

As I walk down the road into the city, I see multiple Aztec-like pyramids, one big one in the center towards the back, two medium ones to the left and right with small buildings in between. In front of the left pyramid are two smaller ones that stand next to each other with a huge building in infront them. There are two other pyramid-like structures, one small and circler in the center and another one off to the left. Besides that, small buildings cover the areas in between.

Walking through the city, I see full bleach white skeletons with weapons and armor, the armor in either spotted patterns or adorned with feathers. "Well, those are mobs if I've ever seen one. Let's see if I can trigger them," I say as I pick up a discarded spear and aim at the base of one of the skeleton's skulls but an otice pops up.

[Common Spear]

'Ok, so does that mean any item here is an artifact or did I just get lucky,' I think but decide to continue testing the trigger and worry about that later. After thrusting the spear into its neck and severing it, I wait for a second and listen for a change in the baseline.

[Skeleton Eagle Warrior 20 Exp distributed to User and pertinent skills & abilities]

Looking around, the skeletons are still lying motionless. 'My guess is the trigger would be me putting an item in the bag, but it could just be picking up specific items in general,' I think as I continue my onslaught as I go through the city, free exp and all that.

[Skeleton Jaguar Warrior…..

I spend the next few hours just cleaning house on these poor mobs. I switched between my ki and the spear due to me not knowing what the trigger for the mobs is and didn't want to be too deep into a recharge cycle if they ever decided to get up.

My skills leveled a bit and increased my ki during this, some even evolved, and I even got a new one.

~Genius Fighter Class E lvl 3 Exp 5,218/10,240~

To the User, simple strategies and tactics are second nature. The User shall be able to form moderately complex plans more easily.

~Apex Predator Class E lvl 2 Exp 2,099/5,120 ~

The User's natural predatory instincts are the apex of predatory skill. Therefore, the User will naturally know how to perfectly stalk, track, and hunt prey or other predators and instinctively have an absolute inclination for sense of direction, the strength of the target, and the best hunting tactics to apply at all times.

~Ki Orb Class F lvl Max~

Ki cost: 1 or more. This skill is mastered, and thus damage output is doubled.

~Ki Weapon Class E lvl 3 4,195/10,240 exp~

Ki cost: 12 or more; the more Ki added, the stronger the weapon and the less concentration needed to mantain it.

~Presence Of An Apex Class F lvl 1 Exp 0/5~

The User has mastered the way of the predator. The User can now assert that mastery as a force when active prey or adversaries will become fearful of the User and have a chance of being stunned with fear. Allies will feel a strong presence radiating from the User and have a chance to boost courage and confidence. Chance rating: 25%

'I'm a good ways through the city, and nothing has attacked me. So I'm definitely exploiting some kind of loophole. Hopefully, the system won't get pissed,' I think as I continue to stab away at the skeletons. My evolved ki weapon technique allows me to do what I wanted originally and weld any melee weapon I can think of, and it doesn't cost anything to maintain or change its shape.

While clearing the city, I noticed the walls and statues around me depicted Faunus in Aztec garb. "Are dungeons a mix of worlds, or is this an ancient culture from Remnants past?" I ask myself aloud. I notice some of the structures have burn marks, look like they were struck by lightning, or have their walls smashed in. 'There was a battle here, and I don't think the native residence won.

Eventually, through my endless slaughter and wondering, I ended up in front of one of the back pyramids, the left of by the looks of it. I stab the last skeleton insight before ascending the steps.

[Skeleton Jaguar Warrior 20 Exp distributed to User and pertinent skills & abilities]

As I reach the top of the stairs and wonder how much exp I've racked up. I look at the entrance; three pillars stand before the ancient doorway. On these pillars were depictions of Aztec Faunus in the spotted armor fighting what looks like ancient depictions of Grimm. I discard the spear as I don't think I can use it effectively in enclosed spaces.

"I wish I had a camera. This stuff looks amazing," I say as I enter the pyramid. After walking past the entrance, My vision fades to black and white, but past the room at the end of the hallway, it fades away completely, which confuses me. 'Oh right, no ambient light for my eyes to reflect, but I should be able to see further,' I think. I raise my hand, summon a ki orb for light, and see the hallway I'm in has smooth walls and floors. At the end of the hallway is a room with what looks like one pillar. "Wow, this room is definitely trapped," looking at the uneven and bumpy floor of the space compared to the even smoothness of the hallway.

Peering into the room, it actually has two pillars. The far one has a lever pulled downward to a picture of a skull from the side, and on the opposite side above it is a picture of a cat with spots… probably a jaguar if the notices mean anything. To the left half, the wall is littered with faces with small holes in the eyes and mouth, ending just before the lever.

I am thinking of a way to get through when an idea hits me. "Hmm, let's test this on the trap first," I said as I will my ki orb to press into one of the uneven bricks, It slides down until I hear a click and swish as a dart shoots from one of the faces and stabs into the wall on a thud. Next, I hear a grunt from further in the pyramid, followed by footsteps coming nearer.

Out of a doorway at the end of the room, three skeletons come out and see me, two rush me, and the last one goes to pull the lever. I quickly will the orb to shoot through the third one's arm and swing around through its skull.

[Skeleton Jaguar Warrior 20 Exp distributed to User and pertinent skills & abilities]

Because the skeleton never pulled the lever, the others ran straight into their own trap.

The skeletons hit the ground as darts continue to fire into them and the wall. I will the orb to push up on the lever disabling the trap. The orb hits the lever and tries to lift it but isn't strong enough and thus dissipates. "Hmm, I guess one ki point can only get you so far," I say, pouring five ki into an orb, giving it the same order. The orb shoots forward and lifts the lever with ease. "Definitely not Dragonball Ki," I say to myself as I enter the room and will the larger ki orb to my side.

As I enter, a purple hue lights up a room similar to the one I was in except for two hallways going left and right and alot more doorways. The hallway to the left is short, and there is a feathered shield at the end. Looking to the right, the hallway continues beyond the purple light. I hear grunts from the hallway as I look down it and two skeletons step into the light. I also here more footsteps behind them.

I summon a short sword and ready up. The skeletons have wooden paddles with embedded jagged rocks for the blades. Ok, think, 'their reach is triple mine, being twice my size and the length of their weapons. I could run back and use the trap from before, but they are twice my height again, which means they'll probably run me down before they get there. There is definitely more behind them,, so I need to take them out quickly. The hallway they're in is narrow... I'll shoot my ki orb down the middle to hopefully take out multiple targets, then rush the first two and take them down to keep them from spilling out. Finally, I'll bombard the remaining ones with ki orbs.

I will the ball of ki towards the skeletons and rush after it. The skeletons shift to the left and right to dodge the light, but it takes the right one's sword arm and shoots down the hallway. I seize the opportunity and slice him in two.

The other skeleton goes for an overhead swing at me, but I leap back. I will my sword into a spear and thrust it into his skull while he is bent over, sheathing half the growing spear into his head.

[Skeleton Jaguar Warrior 20 Exp distributed to User and pertinent skills & abilities]

I spend six ki points to summon three orbs and shoot two of them down the hallway. As the ki orbs shoot down away from me, they light up the hallway. I see two skeletons left, one with a sword like the others and another with a club and a shield. One ki orb connects with its leg, causing the skeleton to fall forward and crack its skull on the ground.

[Skeleton Jaguar Warrior 20 Exp distributed to User and pertinent skills & abilities]

I was about to laugh at the weakness of these mob when the other one used his shield and bashes the orb into the wall and let out a deafening roar.

[Elite Skeleton Jaguar Warrior has attempted to use Freighting Roar on the User]

[User's skill Discipline has negated the effects of Freighting Roar]

'Ok, it's an elite' I think and need to come up with a new plan.
