Chereads / How To Summon A Monster Girl / Chapter 5 - The woods

Chapter 5 - The woods

Location-abondoned Arkenfel city railway

Billy and Kevin walked along the railroad tracks. The logs on the track were slightly embedded in the ground. They had been abondoned for over thirty years now. The power lines were the reason why it wasn't covered in forrest by now.

The air was cool as they followed the power lines to their home. Billy was nine and had an odd obsession with an mmorpg called Arkbell online. Kevin was ten on the otherhand, he was more into skating. Either way they both managed to be best freinds.

Even now Billy walked beside the tracks holding an Arkbell card in a bag. It was a prepaid card to buy ingame items.

"Dude, I heard theres an abondoned train in the woods nearby." Kevin said.

Billy tightened his grip on his bag.

"So?" He replied.

"So? Dude, we should go see it. Its the least we can do, since I came with you to the store." He said.

Billy gave a look at the woods to their right. It was dark under the trees. As if it were night inside the wooded depths.

"Fine..just promise not to jump scare me." Billy said.

"I promise I wont jump scare you." Kevin said as he rolled his eyes.

They stepped into the dark woods. As they got deeper, their eyes adjusted to the shade and they were able to see more. The sky was now covered by branches and tiny beams of weak light broke though the branches.

"See? Its not that dark. It should be up this way." Kevin said.

Billy jumped over fallen trees, avoiding any weird looking plants. His grandma always warned him about poison ivy, he'd never seen it though. So he just decided to not let any plant touch him.

"So, what happened to your uncle Dale?" Kevin asked.

Billy frowned at his question, but he kept following right behined.

"I just heard he couldn't work and lost his apartment.." Billy didn't want to talk about it.

Every time his parent's had mentioned his uncle, it was always in a negitive light. The dread and anxiety in the room would feel heavy. Billy would leave during those discussions.

"So where does he live now?" Kevin asked as he jumped over another fallen tree.

"He…he lives on the road." Billy said.

"So he's a hobo?" Kevin said with a laugh.

"No! You take that back!"

"But that is funny." Kevin said.

"Its not funny!" Billy tackled Kevin and they both fell on the ground.

Kevin felt a sharp mild pain on his back, but he knew it was just a twig or something.

"You take that back! Its not funny!" Billy said.

Kevin managed to hold the little scrawny kid back. Kevin had grown bigger than Billy, so his strength was enough to hold him back. Especially since he was in football now.

"Dude! Chill! I'm sorry, I'm sorry bro!" Kevin said.

Billy's angry face froze and his eyes widened. Kevin looked up and saw a weird figure. Somebody or something was standing by a tree.

Billy gave two hard breaths, then he got up and started crying. Kevin quickly rolled and got a better view. The thing was humanoid. Almost, except it had large eyes and a skinny body. It wore some kind of tight metal suit, but its mantis like body was clearly visable.

"Its a monster! Run!" Kevin screamed like a girl.

Bily dropped his bag and they both sprinted back to the train tracks.

Kevin managed to run faster than Billy. Passing him by, then a metal clank echoed through the woods. Followed by Billy's deathly howl. He'd never heard Billy yell that before. Kevin looked back and saw Billy's waist and arms tied with a metal band. His body was pulled back to the point he fell. Then it dragged him towards it. Its skinny arms pulled the line attached to Billy. Then it grabbef him by the arm and pulled him up.

The alien began to bite Billy and he screamed again. Kevin turned back and ran to the tracks. Tears and snot kept running down his nose. He didn't know if the bites hurt him or not. It was too dark to make out details, but he had to try to get help. Maybe the police could save him.

Kevin's legs grew heavy and he found himself jogging weakly along the track. Repeatidly saying Billy as he cried.

He finally reached the main road. Without giving it much thought, he ran into the road and held his arms up. A rusty truck came to a stop.

"You alright boy!" The man stepped out of the truck.

It was an old man with a grey beard.

"My freind….it hurt my freind." Kevin cried.

The old man pulled out a hand gun and then he pulled out his phone. Dialing 9-11.

"Yeah, I found a kid crying, saying his freind is hurt, off the rail road in Gord street."

The police sent a search team to find Billy. What they saw was the bloody pool of blood. No sign of anyone, some skid marks, light foot prints, but no Billy Oliver.

"You don't think its that ship?" Officer Kaleb questioned. He kicked the gravel on the tracks then glanced up at the massive shadow of the megaship.

"That fucking thing..when will it damn stop. My only guess is that they drink blood..maybe they eat us." Officer Lee said.

"If they wanted to eat us, wouldn't they just come down and capture us? I'm sure they could. If they made such a big space ship." Kaleb said.

Lee nodded slowly, then his eyes widened as if he realized something.

"They do..I mean, the body harvesters is what they called it. The giant slug that takes people whole. I'm betting these fuckers do eat people." Lee said and looked up at the sky again.

"They should just nuke it..see what happens..if we're gunna die anyway. Might as well." Kaleb said.

"Yeah…might as well." Lee agreed.
