Chapter 45 - Oedipus

"Fausto? Is that really you?", cries the voice from the other side. "Baby, please tell me it's you." All of his hyperventilating and sense of confusion begins to melt away at the pained voice of his mother calling for him, pleading for her son to come back to her after an unknown amount of time has passed. Fausto is unable to speak, he just hears his mother telling him, "I'm sorry. I don't know if Rachel told you or not, I didn't get much of a chance to watch over you while you were in the hospital, but... but I did tell Rachel to call me everyday to update me on how you were and if you woke up.." His mother's voice gave him a strange calmness, one filled with dread and an unnerving amount of serenity; like a person who was waiting to die, laying in their deathbed and surrounded by loved ones.
