Chapter 39 - In Between the Leaves

The stillness, it became too unbearable for the soul to carry. Every loud squirm and shuffle of foliage outside of the shed came to an uncomfortable pause. Fausto, Paul, and Rei stood quietly, whatever that was outside was either lost in the dark of the night and left or it is planning a way to get inside to get to them. Only the beat of Fausto's heart was what was filling his ears. So much so, that his heart no longer sounded like a normal rhythmic beat, instead, it was more reminiscent of a ringing. Almost like an explosive has gone off next to his ears, blowing out his drums. Any small noise that came from either outside or inside louden with the absence of sound. The absolute void of space consumed everything and everyone within the shed, there was no verbal communication between the three but each shared the fear that was ever creeping the longer the silence continued.
