Chereads / Archon: Three Souls / Chapter 4 - Monster's Will

Chapter 4 - Monster's Will

The two victims had eyes that sought out hope from seeing Daniel. They were practically begging. Tears were dripping from their eyes, but Daniel was torn apart from helping them and making sure that him, Stephen, and Jeremy lived.

*Drip* *Drip* *Drip*

Tears and blood dripped from the two individuals in front of him.

Hesitation and Justification filled Daniel's thoughts. He knew what had to be done, but could he really do it? Slowly walking towards the mangled victims, Daniel stared at them with cold eyes.

'Thrisix... How do i use my abilities...'

[ The host must need to learn and activate the skill [ True Form: Release ] in order to use the talent abilities. To learn the skill the user must go through several hardship but the director has given you the privilege to unlock the skill just by muttering the skill whether verbally or consciously. ]

'[ True Form: Release ]'

[ Please state the name of the Host ]

'Daniel Orbiso'

[ Error, the entity Daniel Orbiso is currently in unreachable dimension. ]

'huh?'

It wasn't just Daniel who was confused but all three of them. They were currently here, currently breathing, living, and regretting their life choices. Yet Thrisix say's that Daniel was in another dimension?.

'Perhaps... where no longer our selves...'

Daniel just stood there flabbergasted and was more confused but waited for an explanation from Stephen.

'We made a deal with lucifer in hell. But no one can leave hell unless you are pardon from your sins... or something like that. So basically-'

'Our souls are still trapped in hell, while our memories are here in the world of the living!'

Before Stephen can finish his sentence, Daniel's unamused inner thoughts completed what he wanted to say.

'So we're soulless?'

Jeremy was confused at the entire situation. He wasn't too keen in mumbo jumbo philosophy or myths.

'Let me explain, so Satan gave our memories to another soul presumably souls he created himself. It's like saying we are computers that were thrown out, he took our software and gave it to another computer, which were hand made.'

They weren't soulless as a soulless entity is basically dead, and would render their contract useless.

'Hmmm. Yeah i get it now.'

Now another question popped inside Daniel's head. Who is he?

Dealing with Satan has given him massive headaches now, from questioning what reality is to now questioning his very own existence.

'Don't over think it Dan, we're just us but different bodies or souls. Doesn't that mean we're people who just don't have names anymore? Just give yourself one.'

Mentally face palming himself, Daniel was stupefied at himself. Jeremy was right. Just because it isn't his soul anymore doesn't mean it's no longer him. He was just nameless, a name was given to living beings either by birth or by something else. In this world he had no Identity, no name, meaning he is no longer Daniel even if Stephen and Jeremy called him Daniel. "Daniel Orbiso" was the name of the soul, but it makes three things to make a living sentient creature. Mind, body, and soul. He was the mind, the soul was in hell, and his body was crushed. He is, in a way, still "Daniel" and also not. But now was not the time to have an existence issue.

Now He just needed to name himself and do the deed, a name befitting of a sinner.

"[True Form: Release ] Adam"

Hope vanished out of the two people's eyes. The word's that Daniel spoke was a skill, a skill only Demons and Monster's knew.

Lines appeared out of Daniel's body until his human shaped body was dismantled. His head was that of a invertebrate, like a worm. A crack was formed on where his lips were meant to be down to where his neck. He had no eyes on his head, and only around the flesh made tendrils that made up his body. As for legs and limbs? the tendril made up those important parts as well.

On its back were long, thin, like quills that more or less worked as antennae and a large flesh like wings on its back.

Jeremy and Stephen tried to voice their thought's but they couldn't speak.

The monster moved it's head towards the two humans. Raising two tendrils out of the hundreds it had and stabbed it through the chest of the humans. It was not long after he pulled them back up and began to do a long screech as the bodies dropped.

*Flap* *Flap* *Flap* *Thud*

Landing on the ground, the demon bowed it's head and kneeled in front of Adam. Without missing a beat the flesh like tendrils constricted the demon and began ripping it apart. It then raised the large chunks of flesh up and swallowed the chunks whole.

*Crunch* *Crunch* *Gulp* *Crunch*

It devoured the demon without hesitation and it was no laughing matter, the scend was as gruesome as it gets.

Opening his eyes, Daniel was awoken to find the starry night sky once again.

'You okay Dan?'

'Feeling hungry?'

Although some of his memory after using the skill felt blurry, he still remembered the part's where he ate the demon and impregnated the two humans.

'Dan?'

He stared at the night sky without any thoughts. He felt relieved, happy, and at peace. As for his heart? he didn't feel pained at all.

'Dan... is that still you?'

'Dan...'

"Yeah, Im fine."

Daniel sat up and stared at the two humans. They were definitely dying, especially after using [ True Form: Release ] his mind was no longer clouded with guilt and helplessness. He figure that it crushed his human implanted core instincts and replaced it with his new monster like primal instincts.

'What... are we gonna do with the two of them...'

It was clear what was gonna happen to the two humans, but Stephen wanted to ask and hear the answer out of Daniel's mouth.

"Simple, they die and become nurishment for my hatchlings."

'Isn't that a bit...'

After using the skill [ True Form: Release ], Daniel learnt a lot about what he can do. Which meant he knew what to do and what would happen.

"Steph, you're the one who suggested the idea we kill in order to survive. It's either us or them who gets to live."

'I know but...'

'We're gonna do it someday Steph, might as well start now... it's wrong but, we're the devil's henchmen now. We'll be doing thing's like this in the future.'

"Look, im a monster now and you know how other's feel about the strange and unknown. I won't lose myself Steph, like i've said. Your all my family and you guys are my top priority, these two are just... necessary sacrifices."

Stephen was conflicted. He knew that he'd or they had to kill for the contract but he also feel's compassionate and pained about others suffering.

In the end he just sighed and braced his heart and mind, what could he do? unless he was some sort of omnipotent being then its nothing more than a foolish though to save the two lives in front of him.

'Fine...'

'I know it's wrong but we have to grow accustomed to death now.'

Daniel stood up and walked towards the wagon. He opened a create to find broken pieces of porcelain products. On the second crate was filled with food such as sacks of vegetables and dried meat. The third was obviously filled with wine as the bottom of the crate was soaked on a red coloured liquid with a fruity aroma. And on the last one was filled with clothing and pieces of armour. Some were to flashy and colourful, which was too vibrant for Daniel.

'Hey i just noticed... your arm is still broken.'

Jeremy mused. He was quite amazed at how strong the tendrils were.

His left arm was no longer a limb. Instead it was five different flesh made tendrils intertwined to create the basic form of an arm. The end of every tendril functioned as a finger.

Reaching out towards a rock on the ground, the tendrils unraveled itself, stretched and grabbed the rock and then reassembled itself into an arm once again.

"Neat."

It was useful as it no longer needed a bone. He bent it back wards and it didn't even hurt. As for strength, it functioned normally when he was opening the crates so it can be estimated as the same strength as his regular arm.

*Swooshh*

Cold air brushed passed him giving Daniel chills.

Without delay Daniel rummaged through the clothes to find what he deemed suitable. And after minutes of searching he was finally satisfied. He work a dark green sleeveless shirt, brown pants, hard leather boots covered with iron platings and greaves on his shins, and a knee guards. He also wore a gray overcoat and an iron gauntlet on his right arm.

*Clank* *Clank*

His boots were extremely noisy when he moved as he was checking his new outfit.

"Pretty nice."

'Grab that satchel as well, we need a way to carry thing's around.'

"Good thinking."

Jeremy and Daniel were planning on what to bring. They or more precisely Daniel grabbed a handful of fruits, and edible vegetables and stuffed it in the satchel. He ate some and found a water skin inside one of the barrels.

They needed to prepare for a long journey towards their target. Stephen saw what Daniel and Jeremy was doing, and now he was mentally cringing.

'Place them properly you dolts! Maximum capacity is achieved through proper placement!'

Organizing their bags was Stephen's job purely because he manages to get triggered everytime he sees their disorganized bags back then.

Another hour of preparation passed by and the satchel was full of food and water. Daniel was about to ask them a question when suddenly.

[ Hatchlings have been successfully incubated ]

All of them stared at the dying humans. Daniel felt indifferent, Stephen felt Conflicted once again, and Jeremy didn't much seem to care. He never really gave anyone any interest or pity if they were close to him.

"Open."
