It had been a only a couple of hours since they departed, the terrain changed from a small forest and then to a mountain range. It was refreshing seeing the beauty of nature without lamp posts, roads, or through a screen.
"Never thought I'd see this scenery again!"
Daniel took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.
'I forgot you weren't from a city boy, how was china?'
'Asian isn't just china you know!'
"Well anyway, It's nice seeing nature again."
Although he was moving at an extremely fast pace with his [ Soldier ], it felt like he was sliding down a hill with palm leaves. This gave Daniel nostalgia as a smile that was, rarely made, sprout from his face.
They've been running for days and the [ Soldier ] seemed to started showing signs of exhaustion. Daniel wanted a place to experiment with their new strength, power, and abilities without problems and this was exactly the right place.
Tapping the side of it's neck, Daniel got off. He wanted to order the [ Soldier ] but it did so before he could talk.
"Looks like they can act my will without being told, neat."
'Now i remember!'
'Remember what?'
'Xenomorph!'
'Oh yeah!'
While the two voices was talking to themselves, Daniel was busy having his second [ Soldier ] and two [ Worker ] come out from the [ Colony Nest ].
"Hunt down prey to eat... and live prey as well. No specific species, both of you capture while you kill. Now go!"
All of his hatchlings ran in separate directions. The bigger one used its superior sense of smell to hunt prey while the smaller ones used their large insect eyes and keen sense of smell to search for prey they can capture.
"Hey guys..."
'Yeah?'
'Hm?'
Sitting down with the tree at his back, Daniel stared blankly at the fallen branches around him.
"Do any of you know how to start a fire?"
'Eh? No. Do i look like bear grills?'
'IT'S BEAR GRYLLS NOT BEAR GRILLS! And no, i don't have the slightest idea of how to start a fire.'
Of course they know friction can create heat there for fire, however it was easier said than done.
'Actually pretty sure you can create fire right now.'
Suddenly, Jeremy, the forsaken one, grew an idea.
"Im listening?"
'You have tentacles right?'
'Its more of a tendril really as it doesn't have suckers.'
'Anyway, pretty sure you can use your tentacle like the bow strat in making fire'
Using a bow to create fire was very simple. A bow had a string in which one could use a stick and entangle it on it. After that you move the bow left to right while the stick is on top of dried wood. The stick will be forced to rotate incredibly fast as the string that surrounds it is turning it and after several minutes the friction of the stick and dried wood should have created heat. One could break apart dried leaves to use as fuel or keep spinning the stick until it is fully engulf in flames.
Although the idea seemed reasonable, it was impossible as his 'tentacles' couldn't really act the same as a string. It was way too thick and finding a stick with a similar size would be more problematic. However, now that he remembered he had multiple limbs in one hand mean spinning the stick by 'hand' was possible.
A normal hand creating friction with the stick would be tiring and extremely hard. The amount of effort, energy, and time spent wasn't something he could afford. He stored some food in the satchel however it was already bellow half, getting to any form of civilization without food from the middle of nowhere was impossible, unless you're superman.
"I could use them with two moving at opposite direction... hold up, didn't it grow?"
Daniel untangled his hand, the five thick, long, and fleshy tendrils were waving side to side, up and down, left to right upon Daniel's orders.
"Shrink."
He didn't really know how to fully control it given as he was used to having a normal human limb. However, his hands followed his command. It stretched until the edge of the arm was as thin as thread.
'Pretty handy huh'
'Why...'
As Jeremy and Stephen argue about Jeremy's sense of humor, Daniel was already trying to make a fire. Using the thread like hands to create fire.
(AN: Squids have hands as tentacles are the ones that have suckers so ill be either call it tendrils or hands and not tentacle.)
It didn't take long as Daniel never thought his hands were so powerful and fast. The stick was spinning at an alarming speed and created embers at the bottom of the stick until it was completely burning with flames.
Although Daniel was stumped on how to create fire out of nothing, he excelled in keeping the fire going. Gathering a few dead leaves around, he laid them on top of the flame to which it devoured quickly. then giving it a few sticks and some branches to make sure it stays burning. After that he simply cleaned the area where it was burning from leaves and used rocks to surround the flame.
He didn't experience camping however, when you live in a forest, you'll understand that it's actually easier to survive in the wild then at the city.
While the fire was busy eating the branches that Daniel gave it, He simply stood up and fetched more. He didn't have to walk far as it was littered with them everywhere.
"You, go hunt down something small."
It had been an hour since they rested and [ Soldier ] finally woke up to which Daniel gave it an order. It may have been cruel to order someone or something just right after it woke up but these were monsters and most importantly, they were only loyal to the ruler of the colony.
Without delay the [ Soldier ] rushed in a direction sniffing for it's prey.
"Hopefully well get something."
***
It had been roughly two hours now and all hatchling had returned.
The two [ Soldier ]s brought several animals. Considering their body, they seem to be monsters. Although they were similar to earth's animals, they had a bit of mutation that earth's animals didn't have. On the first one had a large moose like animal, however it had four eyes, ble crystal antlers, and instead of having the brown camouflage fur, it had a naval blue fur that had sky blue spots. And it held another on it's tendril. A predator of sort as it had a long tusk on it's lower jaw, sharp teeth, bulky body similar to a bear, but had large stone like platings on the side of it's back. It's fur was like powdered snow except for the blood splattered as a hole on it's neck was visible from Daniel's angle.
To him it was questionable if this was edible however, thankfully he wasn't the one eating them.
As for the other one, it brought a chicken like animal on it's tendril the only difference being it's comb was made of crystal similar to the moose. On it's mouth however was a normal looking boar besides the multiple eyes. There wasn't anything note worthy on the other [ Soldier ] catches but it was still bizarre none the less.
As for the two [ Workers ] they caught only one thing. A large bird like creature that resembled the ancient Argent Tavis. It could only be described as a large sized falcon.
Looking at the bird struggling to survive made Stephen pity it, however, in the end it needed to die for their cause. Using his hands, Daniel fracture the wing bone abd thigh bone of the bird. After using his skill [ Impregnation ] he only allowed it to live a slow and painful death until it was eaten alive from the inside-out.
"Hmm."
Processing meat was not Daniel's forte. Skinning the boar without a sharp object was certainly a hard challenge until his own hands acted on it's own based on his will.
It broke off one of the 'bear' tusks and used it as a knife to skin the boar. It seemed proficient in skinning that from the sheer sight of it, one would mistaken Daniel as some sort of processing expert. However, what Daniel didn't know was that the tendril opened one of it's eyes around his shoulder. This was [ Seeker's Eyes ] which would give him insight. Insight is the ability to understand and comprehend anything, to which the tendrils understood the anatomy of the boar then carefully processing it.
After that it was stabbed on to a large branch and roasted on top of the fire.
"It's so much easier."
Life in the forest is completely easier than living in the city for Daniel. The city had everything you needed but you need money, to gain money, one must work. Easy right? However how does one work? The process of earning money is more complicated than simply saying it. When you're on the wild life, you're constantly on danger. Animals that can kill you are everywhere either their venomous, poisonous, or out right powerful however, he was already accustomed to it. He would create slingshots with spare rubber and shoot down birds, or he would simply hunt small animals with a stick.
In the end, both side need skills, skills in which others may or may not have. For Daniel, hunting was his favourite past time.
"Eat."
While waiting for the boar to roast, Daniel gave his hatchlings dinner.
*Crunch* *Rip* *Crunch*
It seems as their is a natural hierarchy on the colony. The two [ Soldiers ] were eating while the two [ Workers ] were simple watching. They ate and ate without end until the moose was left with nothing but bones with chunks of flesh left to them. But they were still hungry and began eating the bear, the only got half to it till they were finally finished. Only then did the [ Workers ] feed, unlike the two [ Soldiers ], they had smaller appetites.
And after Daniel ate his fill on the roasted boar, he sent them away on his [ Colony Nest ] and slept without worries. Although he left one [ Soldier ] to keep him safe.
Ch: End.
