Chapter 4 - Mentally process this

"So we're in the car, it's funny because we're in the car right now and in my story we're in the car as well. Shoot whoever is writing this is probably in the car right now."

"What are you talking about Rinai? My hearing may be gone but it doesn't mean I care about what your talking about."

"Sheesh you ain't have to tell it to me like that."

"Your right, I was just thinking we don't have time to waste, I'm just trying to fix my problem but I'm so wrapped up in myself, are you good?"

"Yeah I'm fine but I was also thinking, it's kinda lonely with just the two of us and what if we run low on money?"

"We're not gonna run low on money and if we do we'll handle it when we do, I also agree with you, maybe we'll have someone join us at some point along the way."

"Uh fine."

Just as Rinai begins speaking again, a noise can be heard from outside, well at least Geneva can hear it. As she turns to take a look outside the car window, something is flying in the air right above the car. If they get out then they are gone. What exactly is it?

"Rinai start the car and drive as fast as you can. Get us out of here?"

"Ww..w..why? What's wrong?"

"NO JUST DRIVE JUST DRIVE!"

"OKAY OKAY!"

They speed off, as the car nears the end of the parking lot, Geneva tries to get a good look at what's flying after them in the sky. It's dark outside and because this is a poor neighborhood of the city, the street lamps are out. However the moon light gives off a bit of a silhouette of something moving in the night sky. Whatever it is, it's not a bird or a spaceship or a person. It has no wings, but it appears to be an animal of some kind. It's shape is similar to that of a dog, but then that would just be stupid.

"Is it still behind us? Where do we go?

"Take us far away, we can go anywhere, we can find a motel to stay in for the night."

"Okay."

"Has it stopped chasing us?"

"Yes Rinai it stopped chasing us half a mile ago."

"We've been driving around for an hour"

Rinai and Geneva drive around for another 20 minutes.

"Let's go and rent a room over there in that motel across the street. It doesn't look too bad for an old washed up motel."

"Usually I'm against staying in a motel because it's gross, but I already don't have much money anyway so it will be an adventure." Rinai said.

The two girls get checked into the motel and settles in. When they get bored they decide to go exploring.

"Do you think there are any convenience stores around here?"

"I mean, there could be. On our way in I did see an old arcade downstairs."

"What kind of motel would have an arcade?"

"The arcade is old and the motel is old, they match up perfectly. You know this place was probably very busy in it's day."

"I'm going to drive around a few nearby blocks to see if there are any convenience stores."

"Okay but stay close to the motel." Said Geneva as she heads downstairs to the old arcade room.

When Geneva gets downstairs to the arcade room, there are only four other people there. Of the many cool vintage games she passes by, there is one particular old 1980s game that catches her eye. "In the name of the game" what kind of title is this? Is it psychological?

"In the name of the game" is a game about a city that's set in a fantasy world but it also has some realistic traits in it. For instance if you were in this world you wouldn't even realize that your in it, you would see regular people, regular homes, regular cars, life is regular. There are a few rules in this game though, rule number one is a player cannot control another players actions, it will not work. Rule number two is if you kill a player you have to keep killing for you to survive. Rule number three is that you cannot know that you are in the game. It is still fantasy, in this game all it takes is imagination and the whole world comes crashing down. If a player thought about anything in the world, anything at all, then it would completely come true. This game is brutal, pinning intellectual against intellectual. Are your minds over powered? This game for sure will fry your brains.

"This 'In the name of the game' sounds real pleasing. It's my kind." Geneva thought as she stayed for a few games. She got hooked to the game but after an hour she headed back to her room.

On the other side, Rinai headed out to the convenience store. She found a little old rusted shop, however it was the only convenience store in the area at all, so of course she went in despite having a gut feeling to not go into the shop. If not then what did she do all that searching for. Long story short she did not find what she was looking for.

Rinai went into the store, as she stands there and looks around the shop to see what she wants to buy, a boy around her age walks in. So he would naturally be early twenties. He clearly waits for her to buy anything just so he could rob her.

"Give me that" the boy said

"No, if you can't pay for your things then don't come to shop."

The boy pulls out a gun on Rinai, surprisingly this isn't the first time Rinai has been in a situation like this. So she jumps right up and slides behind the cashier counter. She waits there until someone walks into the shop. The boy is still circling the area. He sees Rinai through a mirror and he lunges at her. What is she going to do? What can she do? She throws down everything she bought and heads for the door but the buy stops her in her tracks.

"What am I going to do with you?" He said

"You could let me go because you don't know me and head after someone who has wronged you"

"Oh so you condone violence?"

"No I was just saying, there is nothing I could do in this situation."

"Pretty smart, your pretty smart. Your not the type of person I would choose to kill. Your not the type of person I would want to kill, but I don't have a choice."

"Why don't you have a choice, you could let me go. I realize saying that doesn't help but..."

"I'm sorry"

Just as the boy was about to shoot Rinai looked up to see what seemed to be the boy paralyzed stuck in a position. His face was emotionless and he still had his finger frozen on the trigger. Rinai was not about to ask "are you alright?" Or "what's going on?" She quickly and immediately ran out of the store. Though she still wondered what happened she didn't stop until she was back at the motel with Geneva.
