I grabbed it from my pocket and looked at the name.

"I'm sorry I have to take this," I said.
He nodded and I got up to walk outside.
While I was walking the group of men started catcalling me and making very specific vulgar remarks again.
I rolled my eyes and walked out the door.
It was dark and raining when I got outside so I stayed close to the diner so I wouldn't get wet.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Hey, are you okay?" My asked
"Yeah I'm still at the diner"
"Okay, well I won't be home tonight because I got three more emergency surgeries. I'm sorry sweetheart."
"It's okay mom you don't have to apologize to me," I said.
"I know but it's just that, I'm barely at home and I don't want you to think that I'm—"
I looked to the side window and saw Nathan and one of the guys who were catcalling me were face-to-face.
The old man ended up pushing Nathan and in returned Nathan pushed him back. Then the other guys stood up.
"Ok mom I'll be home in a few," I said
"Uhhh ok text me when your there then," she said, and with that, I hung up and ran inside.
I walked up to the group of men. "Hey, hey let's talk about this like adults. What's going on?" I asked.
They were all having a staredown with each other.
"Nothing they were just leaving." Nathan countered.
"This is not over. We will see you again" the man that pushed Nathan said.
They turned around and left the diner.
I grabbed Nathan's hand and walked him back to the booth.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah are you?" Nathan asked
"Yeah, they didn't push me. What happened?"
When Nathan opened his mouth our waitress popped up.
"I'm sorry but we do not condone any type of violence we're going to have to ask you to leave," Sara said
"No it's fine ma'am can we have the check?" I said.
"Yes here you go" she reached into her apron pocket and put it on the table.
Nathan grabbed it before I could and put the money inside.
"I'm sorry about what happened. Keep the change." Nathan said and the waitress smiled.
We got up and out of the diner and ran to the car. It was pouring.
I got in the car and wiped my face then put my phone in the middle of the glove compartment.
I was nearly soaked.
BANG!
I looked to my left and Nathan wasn't in the car but instead held on the door by the man who pushed him.
I quickly got out of the car and ran over to the man and Nathan.
"HEY! HEY! YOU NEED TO LET GO OF HIM NOW!" I screamed as I tried to pry him off. But the man just pushed me with one hand and I landed on the ground. There weren't many cars out there.
Nathan struggled to get the old man's hands off his neck.
I got up and tried to grab the man again but then I was grabbed by one of his friends.
"I told you we would see you again." the old man said as he threw him farther away from his car and started to beat him along with the rest of his friends.
I yelled at them to stop and struggle to get out of the man's grasp but it was no use.
I realized the only way to get out of this is if I hurt the man holding me.
I turned my head to the side and bit his bicep. Hard.
The man screamed, picked me up, and threw me against the car.
My back and my head collapsed with the car window cracking it.
I fell on my stomach grabbing my bleeding head.
I could barely keep my eyes open.
"You bitch! I'm gonna have fun with you later" the man said as he walked to me.
I looked at Nathan and his mouth and nose were bleeding.
The old man and his two other friends were kicking Nathan in his stomach, back, and legs.
Everything just felt slow for a moment.

I raised my fist and slammed against the ground as I screamed "STOP!"
This blue light blasted everyone in the parking lot.
Two of the older man's friends went over the parking lot and across the street one of them hitting the light pole. Nathan and the old man that pushed him earlier flew into the car across the parking lot denting the whole side, and the man that grabbed me went through the glass window of the cascade diner.
I stared at my hands shocked.
What the hell just happened?
What am I?
