Chereads / Demonic Host Against The Bloodline / Chapter 45 - Curtis Sanders

Chapter 45 - Curtis Sanders

Curtis hovered around him, while Zaiden meditated as he was instructed. But Curtis had to ensure his safety, the butler still didn't trust the demon. Curtis suspected that he was playing tricks and had a sneaky plan.

Undoubtedly his judgement and anxiety was normal considering that the demon had tried to take over Zaiden's body once before.

'I don't understand this master. What exactly is he trying to do? He calls him and then disappears without notifying.'

Curtis was disturbed by Michal' behaviour and the way he was treating Zaiden. The boy was brought up lavishly and with great care, although it was still a mystery how he managed to step in the world of crime. Zaiden seemed to be aged well despite his human years, however in vampiric age he was a child too.

The fact still remained there that he was a child prodigy in both realms. And his life was under constant dangers either way. The butler couldn't bring himself to imagine the consequences of failing the seemingly deadly game.

'If he didn't teach anything useful to master Zaiden then we sure are doomed. I don't want to get stranded here among these blood suckers and...ugh...definitely not with this non-existent body.'

As a dutiful butler he never put his own life as priority before, but upon knowing Zaiden's origin and the troubles ahead...he began to question the reason for his existence.

Curtis never believed in super naturals, until he encountered one. Now that he was aware of their capabilities and the mystical powers, he didn't want to risk his life for nothing. He cast a look at Zaiden who was immersed in finding a way to his subconscious mind once again.

The butler shook his head and hoped for him to achieve a higher level of magic, so they could leave the realm as soon as possible. Curtis summoned the system and an invisible screen appeared in front of him. For Zaiden the panels appeared in the corner of his eyes.

'Let's see how much I have progressed during these weeks.'

Curtis and Zaiden were bound to one thread and they both were required to work together. None of them should die in order to fulfill the mission, and for that Curtis needed to help himself to be able to attain a physical form.

The invisible panel popped up in the midst of the air and Curtis began to speculate his stats. Since he was given an equivalent spot as Zaiden, hence Curtis had his own tasks and stats.

'The heck! It's worse than my school grades.'

The butler had already figured out he could absorb mana energy after possessing them. Although he experimented with the certain ability and concluded that he could only stay within a person for a few minutes.

Back there in the forest Curtis possessed the royal guard for a long time, which constantly drained the man of life source. If Zaiden hadn't killed him by attacking the guard, he would already have died later either way.

Curtis shook his head and experimented with the hidden panels in order to find something new. He had already gotten tired of the existing abilities and despised the system for not blessing him variations. Whereas the seed of envy, one of the sins of the vampire realm had already started to intoxicate him.

ZaZaiden had already been meditating as ordered, but his constant failed attempts to get back into his subconscious zone made him agitated. He could still see the crack above his head in his mind, and the bright light was coming from the other side. But the demon was now nowhere near to be seen.

Master Michal was determined in testing Zaiden's patience for a week, however he was aware that the boy wouldn't risk exposing his identity accidentally. On the other hand Zaiden appreciated and acknowledged his efforts to erase the demonic runes. The second time when he saved Zaiden from Aaron the old man bent the vision of the spectators.

And by seizing the opportunity along with the gained time he erased those runes to keep maintaining Zaiden's identity hidden. He was sure that Zaiden wouldn't risk his life after acknowledging that his emotions were the trigger to exposure.

Zaiden waited for him to conduct a session but once again Michal didn't show up. He stood up after constant defeat from some unknown mystical seal in his subconsciousness. Zaiden decided to confront his incompetent master, when Anna approached him with a box.

She was on her way back to the dorm and thought to check up on Zaiden. Anna wasn't concerned about him, rather she was interested in what happened two days ago. Zaiden forced a smile on his face upon seeing her, he committed the thought in his mind forcefully. Zaiden wanted to attain every existing power and had already figured out that he needed to befriend the people related to the authority.

He couldn't afford to offend or refuse Anna and why would he, when they both were planning to curry favors from each other. Curtis didn't like her presence but he knew that endurance in that particular moment could lead them to a big victory.

"Hello, Anna."

Zaiden unwillingly tried to sound cheerful as if he was expecting her already. Whereas Anna seemed to be satisfied with his response to her sudden visit.
