Early in the morning the sound of catwalk in heels could be heard all across the office, it was Diana entering Order and Justice Law Firm after a long break which she highly needed. Vanessa couldn't believe what she was seeing in front of her, it felt like a dream to see Diana coming back stronger than ever - and happier.
"If it isn't the widow of the year..." Vanessa made a joke and Diana chuckled softly.
"How you doing?"
They hugged and Vanessa threw a simple peck on Diana's cheeks "Good, and you?" she asked.
"Can't complain"
"It's a good thing you are here today, we have a case going on at the court. Frank and Letitia are representing our client. Do you wanna join them?"
"Yes, of course. I would love that"
"Lemme fix up the schedule for you"
"Thank you Vee"
Vannesa walked back to the office and prepared paperwork for Diana, half an hour later Diana was out and she was on her way to the court. Marcus arrived an hour later but Diana wasn't there, after what went down last night Marcus wanted to apologize to her.
"Where'd she go?" he asked.
"To the court Mr Orlando. Would you like to wait for her?"
"What court?"
"Um... the supreme court"
"What's going on in the supreme court?"
"A client Mr Orlando, he is... convicted"
"For what?"
"For murder sir"
Marcus exhaled, then he seemed lost for a while. The murder case brought up what he and Martin did to Jacob. "Why would Diana be so interested in a murder case? She shouldn't be taking such cases considering... she just lost her husband to shooting this will trigger her" Marcus thought out loud.
"Mr Orlando..." Vanessa called out to a seemingly lost in thoughts Marcus. "Where'd you go?"
"Huh?"
"As I said early on, Diana isn't here"
"Oh, yeah of course. Thank you Vanessa" said Marcus and then he slowly walked back to his car and then to his office.
The supreme court was filled with prosecutors and defenders for the case of Glory Johnson, a congress woman in her early sixties who was said to have killed a young man in his early twenties inside her room after having sex with him. Glory looked nothing like her age, he was far from being old and she was full of botoxes and plastic surgeries to remove the wrinkles and look younger, her wealth made her afford all the medicines and operations to change her body. Justice and Law Order Firm came first in line as the best lawyers in New York and Glory knew it was the best firm to keep her out of jail.
Diana tried to defend her at court, alongside Frank while Letitia was out gathering more evidences. Glory wore a dazzling pink fur coat on top of a red short dress, with black heels and black shades. She wasn't worried about anything, nor was she scared even though the young man's body was found dead inside her room three days after she checked out of Ritz Carlton. Glory Johnson was termed a "murderer" by the whole America and the main suspect of the case, even though she denied it.
The judge dismissed the case because the prosecuters didn't have much evidence, it was scheduled to next week. Diana was anxious to know what really happened inside that room between Glory Johnson and the young man, hence she waited to ask what happened. As soon as they were out of the court, the press was waiting - Frank and Diana were right behind Glory.
"Senator, senator..." the press screamed for Glory and wanting her to stop so she can answer their questions. "Keep going, don't say a thing" Frank told her and he was rushing her to the car.
"I have to speak to my people" Glory hesitated.
"Your people? This isn't funny, you don't need to say anything. At this point I'm afraid what will come out of your mouth"
Frank made sure Glory got inside the car, a white limousine and Diana walked inside it too while Frank went to the front. They left the supreme court while paparazzis and press followed them behind.
Glory opened the fridge inside the car and took a cold water soda and she had a sip, then another one until it was done and she tossed the bottle to the side.
"You don't want any?" she asked Diana. Diana shook her head "No" and she didn't seem interested in having any sort of conversation with Glory, and the congress woman noticed it.
"What's your name?"
"Diana"
"Just Diana?"
"Diana Mil..." Diana stopped halfway, then she remembered her husband died hence that also meant the name died with him. "Diana Davis" she replied.
"Why did you stop at Mil?"
"I used my husband's name before, Miller but he died"
Glory acted like she cared "Oh, my deepest condolences to you. You must be relieved"
"What?"
"I mean husbands are a lot of work aren't they? Mine we got divorced on our first year, I was twenty four at that time and I never got married again. I just didn't want someone living inside my house, can you imagine the most stressful situation like coming back home tired and all you want is a nap and hot shower, but then you gotta ride someone's cock and getting fucked" Glory took a cigarette out of her purse, then she gave one to Diana.
Diana refused "I don't smoke"
"I never met a lawyer who doesn't smoke. It's a pitty, with all those stresses honey you should smoke"
Glory opened the window and lit up her cigarette, the inhaled the smoke and then again, and the third time she coughed for a while and then exhaled.
"Did you kill him?" Finally Diana asked what she wanted to ask ever since she was at the court, somehow Glory looked guilty about everything, however she wanted to be sure.
"The boy?"
"Yes, did you kill Daniel?"
Glory stared at Diana and she noticed that fire rage inside her, she inhaled the cigarette smoke and then leaned back on the seat.
"How old are you?"
"Thirty"
"Just thirty?"
"I'll be thirty in September"
"Oh! I see... you are a Virgo. That explains the rage and the daring"
"I'm a libra"
"Twenty five?"
"Twenty seven"
"Ooh, born on twenty seven September. Same date as my son, he's forty" Glory inhaled more smoke from the cigarette while still her eyes were fixed at Diana. "Tell me, were you happily married?"
"Yes of course" replied Diana but then she looked outside.
"Liar..."
"What?"
"You are lying Diana Davis, look at your eyes... you don't really look like a woman who just lost her husband. It's giving, hey dickhead I'm glowing while you rot vibes"
"I loved my husband. More than anything, and more than myself. I am nothing like you"
"Honey you are not fooling anyone. So here's the piece of advice, get fucked sweetheart. Live your life and travel the world, move on from that fucker he's gone. You look like a young woman with big dreams and ambitions, you deserved better, and get a botox or something... you look stressed"
Glory went back to smoke her cigarettes while Diana was awestruck and shocked about what Glory said, then she questioned herself about whether she was right.
"Did you do it? Kill the boy?" asked Diana.
"Yes, he didn't give me the orgasms I needed and he was rude. He talked trash about my pussy, which I paid millions to keep it fresh and juicy... he said I couldn't feel orgasms anymore because I am old. Who did he think he was talking to...?"
The limousine parked and Gloria sighed, then she locked eyes with Diana. Suddenly the car stopped and the door was opened. The first thing Diana to see was Marcus standing firmly beside the limousine in his sharp black suit and a bowtie, then a mansion which possibly belonged to Glory and it was out in the wild far away from the clustering of the city.
"Marcus?" Diana's eyes widened with amazement.
Glory got out of the limousine and she was shocked upon seeing Marcus's lean and fit figure "Mr Orlando..." she said charmingly.
"Senator Johnson, a pleasure" Marcus reached out for Glory's hand and kissed it. Glory pulled him in a tight hug as Diana watched.
"How long has it been?"
"Not that long, probably five months"
"Well, I gotaa find a way to win this case. I may pay you a visit when I'm free. What are you doing in my house anyway?"
"I came for my girlfriend... Diana" Marcus said it proudly.
"Mmh-mmh" Glory smiled looking back at Diana, then she winked at her.
Marcus turned Glory to his side "Let's have that coffee senator, as you promised" he said.
"Anytime you want Mr Orlando..."
Glory kissed Marcus's lips and then she walked inside with Frank who told Diana that he was going to train Glory for court next time, Diana nodded then she and Marcus remained standing at the entrace of Glory's house.
"You wanna go home?" he asked.
Diana sighed "Take me home and then fuck me, I don't want to look stressed anymore. She said I look stressed" she replied and Marcus had that huge smile on his lips.
